The next morning

James got out of bed, walked to the bathroom and spent way to long making sure his hair was just the right amount of messy. On his way back was when he noticed Sirius bed was empty, he never got up early. He looked around the room and saw Remus curled up into a ball in his bed with his head on Sirius chest. He smiled at them before changing into his uniform. By now Peter was up and they were both ready for breakfast. Peter walked down to breakfast while James began with waking up Sirius. Sirius slowly woke up, still tired from the late quidditch game and waking up at two in the morning. He climbed out of bed, careful to not wake Remus.

-” Thought you wouldn’t want to mis breakfast or maybe you would prefer to stay and cuddle with Moony.” James grinned at Sirius who shook his head and changed to his uniform, but he couldn’t help but smile.

-” Shut up mate. Let’s go.” Sirius was already on his way to the door.

-” Shouldn’t we wake Remus?” James looked at him confused, Sirius rarely left Remus behind.

-” Let him sleep, he needs it. He had another nightmare.” Sirius smile had disappeared and been replaced by a concerned face.

-” That’s why you were in his bed.” Sirius nodded in response. “It was that bad?” James got more and more worried.

-” Yea, it’s a miracle you and Peter didn’t wake up. He was tossing around, screaming and he wouldn’t stop, I could hardly wake him up.” Sirius eyes filled with tears. He had stayed strong for Remus and hadn’t really had time to feel his own feelings, he had been so focused on Remus. Now he felt how scared he really was for his friend and worried about him, what had happened in his dream that was so terrible. He quickly wiped his tears away, this wasn’t about him, it was about Remus so he had to stay strong. James walked over to his friend and just hugged him.

-” It’ll be okay mate, we’ll figure something out.”

-” It’s so stupid. I don’t know why I’m reacting like this, I do not cry. I...I shouldn't react like this, we are supposed to be worried about Remus, I’m not important.” James immediately took a step back but kept a tight grip on Sirius shoulders.

-” Don’t ever say that! I realise you’re worried about Remus but that does not mean you can’t have feelings.” James looked at him strictly and Sirius looked down at the floor.

-” Sorry”

-” It’s okay. Just remember that your feelings mater as well, okay?”

Sirius nodded. “Okay, let's go to breakfast. We'll bring Remus a sandwich.”

When James and Sirius reached the great hall Peter was already seated and enjoying breakfast. When he saw them a baffled expression came over his face.

“Where's Remus?”

“We let him sleep in, he needs it. We’ll swing by before class to pick him up.” Sirius answered while they sat down. James started talking about quidditch while he made himself a portion of porridge. It was actually impressive how he never seemed to run out of things to say when it came to quidditch. Sirius would probably have made fun of James for it if he wasn't so deep into his own thoughts about Remus. After having a sandwich and a glass of pumpkin juice he made a ham and cheese sandwich for Remus before they made their way from the great hall to the Gryffindor tower.
