Not So Happy Campers Part 2

As some of the campers looked towards the end of the cliff, already terrified of jumping, others watched Chris, waiting for the explications. "Okay. Today's challenge is three-fold. Your first task is to jump off this 1,000-foot-high cliff into the lake."

"Piece of cake," Bridgette says confidently.

"If you look down, you will see two target areas. The wider area represents the part of the lake that we had stocked with psychotic... man-eating sharks. Inside that area is a safe zone. That's your target area, which, we're pretty sure is shark-free." Chris continues. "For each member of your team that jumps and actually survives, there will be a crate of supplies waiting below. Inside each crate are supplies that you'll need for the second part of the challenge... building a hot tub. The team with the best one gets to have a wicked hot tub party tonight. The losers will be sending someone home. Let's see, Killer Bass, you're up first."

"Oh, wow. So, who wants to go first?" The pretty blonde asks, standing near the end of the cliff. The rest of the team only looks away, clearly not wanting to jump.

"Hey, don't sweat it, guys. I heard that these shows always make the interns do the stunt first to make sure it's survivable." Owen tells his teammates, not seemingly stressed.

"So, who's up?" Eva asks, not necessarily wanting to jump first.

"Ladies first." The punk says with a smirk.

"Fine, I'll go. It's no big deal, just an insane cliff dive into a circle of angry sharks." The blonde surfer says before jumping into the water and signaling that she's okay.

"Okay, that was hot." (Y/N) comments.

"She did it. Yeah! Yeah! I'm next. Cowabunga!" Tyler says excitedly before jumping and landing on a buoy making everyone cringe.

The members of the Killer Bass all start jumping, or not, and Izzy and Katie switch places.

"Okay, so that's nine jumpers and two chickens. Screaming Gophers, if you can beat that we'll throw in a pull cart to put your crates on."

"Nice. Okay, guys who's up first?" Trent, a dark-haired guy that (Y/N) hasn't talked to yet, says.

After seeing the awkwardness surrounding the group, (Y/N) decides to speak. "Okay, so I guess I'm not totally on your team, but I kinda like risking my life so I'm gonna go."

"I'm not holding you back." The host says, enjoying the drama.

The Screaming Gophers watch as the (h/c) in an (f/c) bikini turns to the team, waves at them, and jumps in the water. "She's definitely stupid," Noah says while rolling his eyes.

When she's completely immersed in the water, (Y/N) feels like the world stops. It’s calm and even if she’s often described as the opposite of calm, she feels comfortable in this moment. She doesn't know if she's in the safe zone but the only thing she cares about in the moment is how the water which, let's be honest is probably not really clean, seems to shine because of the sun. Unfortunately, her lungs don't have enough air anymore so her head pops out of the blue lake. (Y/N) rubs her eyes and takes a big inspiration. She also realizes that she's in the safe zone so she swims toward the boat.

The Screaming Gophers seem to argue considering that nobody’s jumping and the members are practically yelling, so the boat drops (Y/N) on the shore. The (h/c) spots Bridgette with another guy so she decides to go talk to them.

"Hey Bridge, what you did earlier was so freaking cool!" The girl with (e/c) exclaims while gesturing with her hands.

"Oh, hi (Y/N)! You talk about when I jumped?" The surfer responds with a smile.

"Yeah, you looked like one of those super hot lifeguards in movies!"

"I'm a surfer so it's pretty normal." Bridgette chuckles.

"You have to teach me how! I'm horrible at surfing."

"Hey, if you want I could also show you, I'm a pretty good surfer." The guy with a cowboy hat says.

"Oh, I have an idea, both of you could teach me. Like a private lesson!"

"That works for me." The green-eyed smiles at the cheerful girl.

"Deal." Geoff fist-bumps (Y/N).

When (Y/N) wants to speak again, a voice interrupts her. "(Y/N), come here!" The (h/c) turns to see Heather calling her with Lindsay by her side.

"Hmm, I'm gonna talk to them, bye guys!" (Y/N) says before sending a flying kiss and walking away.

She walks to the black-haired girl who looks extremely annoyed and the blue-eyed girl who waves way too intensely at her. "Hey, babes, what's up?" (Y/N) grins. Lindsay blushes at the pretty (h/c) in front of her while playing with a strand of her straight blonde hair.

"Why were you talking to them?" Heather glares at (Y/N).

"Wow! You really are the jealous type."

"I-" The tall girl is rapidly cut off.

"Don't worry, it's kinda cute. But I swear I was only being friendly!"

Heather huffs. "Can you just shut up?! You want to be on this team, right?"

"Yeah, I think I made it pretty clear."

"Then stop talking to the enemies. If you want to continue flirting with them, just stay with the losers. Nobody wants a traitor, right Lindsay?" The black-eyed teenager takes the arm of the girl in a red bikini who previously wasn't listening to the conversation very attentively. After catching a glimpse of Heather’s stare, Lindsay immediately shakes her head in approval.

Before (Y/N) can respond, the sound of Chris’s microphone makes all the campers focus their attention on him. "Okay, campers, there's only one person left. You guys need this jump for the win. No pressure, dude." The host looks at the big blonde. "Okay, there's pressure."

All the Screaming Gophers, including (Y/N), start encouraging Owen. Some in a meaner way than others. The reason for all the acclamations starts to prepare himself with his arm floaties.

Confession Room: Owen

"Oh, I was pretty darn nervous. See, the thing is, I'm not that strong a swimmer."

End of Confession Room

Confession Room: Geoff

"I'm looking at this guy and thinking, "There's no way he's gonna make it." " Geoff says, seeming to find the situation amusing.

End of Confession Room

Confession Room: Gwen

"I actually thought, if he jumps this... he's gonna die.” The goth says with genuine concern.

End of Confession Room

"Take a good run at it, buddy. You can do this." Chris's encouragement seems slightly fake.

"I'm gonna die now. I'm going to freaking die now." The overweight blonde looks stressed but definitely determined.

"Come on, big guy!" Leshawna who was now standing between Gwen and (Y/N), says slightly concerned but still very competitive along with her teammates.

Owen jumps in the water while yelling and immediately regrets his decision. The impact of Owen's slightly concerning weight creates a sort of big wave that scatters everyone on the sand. Everyone, including the sharks, look kinda pathetic while the big blonde cheers for his own success.

"Yes! Yeah! Oh, yeah! Who's the man?" Eventually, the Screaming Gophers realize that they won the challenge and start to cheer with Owen.

"The winners, the Screaming Gophers!" Chris yells in his microphone.

Owen starts to suspiciously look into the water. "That was awesome, dude."

Trent seems to realize that Owen suddenly doesn't seem so excited. "What's wrong?"

"I think I lost my bathing suit." All the contestants show their obvious disgust.

After that, all the teens gather in front of Chris and are told that they will have to transport big boxes to the camp. The Screaming Gophers will have a thing to put their boxes on and transport them more easily while the Killer Bass will have to transport their boxes with their bare hands. (Y/N) looks at the Killer Bass with pity, she really feels bad for them and even thinks about helping them but she sees how Heather is staring at her and dismisses the idea. It may look stupid how she was being pushed around by Heather but she just really didn't want to have a problem with anybody for once. The (h/c) always had a problem with people being mad at her or just not liking her in general. They always just saw her as a pretty girl and treated her like an object or thought she was a troublemaker which was kind of understandable. Being accepted into the Screaming Gophers made her feel validated so if supporting Heather for a bit would help her stay on the team longer, she was going to do it.

Heather stops looking at (Y/N) when she sees that the girl got closer to the group. The (e/c)-eyed girl looks at the other team one last time, then starts walking beside Gwen. She really hopes that nobody will get hurt while moving the boxes with their hands.

After a couple of minutes, the whole team start transporting the boxes with ease while singing a song. (Y/N) would often try to look for the other team but they were obviously struggling and probably still at the starting point.

"Even if you keep looking, they're not going to appear, you know." Gwen who stayed quiet beside her finally speaks up.

"Whoah, you scared me!" (Y/N) puts a hand on her heart, really surprised that Gwen, who haven’t said a word to her during the fifteen minutes they were beside, finally spoke up, even if it didn't seem so friendly.

"Hey! I know you popular chicks are pretty and all but no need to be rude."

"No, no, no. I didn't mean to say that you were scary, you're actually really pretty. It's just that it’s the first time you’ve talked to me so it surprised me a bit."

"Is it so surprising that the "emo girl" talks to you?"

"No! Stop trying to make me say something I didn't say. It's just that you don't seem to like me very much."

"I don't hate you, I actually thought you seemed cool when you arrived.”

"And what do you think about me now?'

"I'm pretty confused because I was always good with analyzing people but you seem to have a contradictory personality. At first, you were friendly and even a bit... flirty. I honestly thought that was it, but after some time it was evident you stood up for yourself and others. What confuses me in that is that even if you stand up for yourself, you always make sure that people still like you. I also saw you hang out with Heather and Lindsay as if you were the mean trio in a dumb movie."

"Well, you definitely seem to observe me a lot, babe." The (h/c) smiles at the other girl and looks into her eyes.

"And you seem to be a very confusing girl, (Y/N).”

The girls' staring competition is interrupted by Beth. "Hey, look, there’s the campground."

"That was pretty easy."

"I'm pleasantly surprised."

The happy smiles of the team are erased when Chris tells them to open the crates with their teeth. This bitch even had the audacity to tell them it was his idea.

"Aww come on, I didn't have braces for two years only to ruin them by opening crates. (Y/N) complains while some of her teammates start digging their teeth in the wood of the crates.

"You had braces?" Justin asks before sitting on the stairs, because a model like him could obviously never do any hard work

"Of course sweetheart, look at these teeth." (Y/N) dramatically smiles at the boy. He smirks and takes one of (Y/N)'s wrists so she can sit beside him.

"Don't worry, I'm aware that you have the best smile here beside me. It's just surprising to know that someone like you has something in common with Beth." He chuckles.

"Someone like me?"

"Someone pretty."

"She's cute too!" (Y/N) looks at the small girl with glasses.

"If you say so..."

"Well, don't you want to help the others?" She briefly looks at the majority of the team who seem to have a hard time with the boxes.

"(Y/N), we don't have to worry about that, they can do it themselves, besides, we were having an interesting conversation right now." He winks at her.

"Sorry honey, but I think they need help." (Y/N) awkwardly removes her wrist from his grip and walks to one of the boxes that still hasn’t been opened.

Before she can open the crate, Izzy’s cry makes her turn to the red-haired girl. "Ow, ow, rope burn on my tongue."

"Omg, are you okay?!" (Y/N) takes Izzy's chin in her hand to examine the burn.

"Of course! Why wouldn't I be?"

"Well, you just-" She stops her sentence when the green-eyed girl licks her cheek.

"What did you just-"

"Oh, it looked tasty."

"Huh. I'll be right back... Glad you're okay!" Before the other can retort, (Y/N) runs to the box she had previously chosen. To her surprise, it was already opened. Her confusion stops when a voice behind her speaks.

"Oh, sorry if you wanted to open it but since you were talking to Izzy I just thought I would help you out with this," Trent explains to her.

"Well thanks! But you know, I really don't mind helping, I want to be helpful to the team." (Y/N) smiles. She looks around and sees that pretty much all the boxes are open. "Let's see what's inside then."

"Hey, check it out, I got wood!"

"I've got some tools here and what looks like a pool liner."

Even though (Y/N) just said that she wanted to be helpful to the team, the sight of Lindsay and Heather talking in a suspiciously nice way to Leshawna takes her attention away from the insides of the wooden boxes. Before she can go up to the blonde and black-haired girls to know what just happened, (Y/N) notices that the Killer Bass just arrived. She decides to go up to Courtney when she sees that her eye looks like it's about to explode.

"Hey princess, what happened to your eye?" The (h/c) girl tries to not make a face when she sees the ugly sight of the eye from up close.

"Nothing, just an allergy," Courtney responds with a fake smile.

The homeschooled dude then makes a comment about how it's getting worse and Courtney tries to make him understand her apparent strategy.

"Bae we're not blind, you obviously got stung by an insect or something. I got a cream for that in my luggage. You should come to my cabin tonight." Even though what she's saying is innocent, the (h/c) says it in a tone that's insinuating something more.

"Huh, I'm fine thank you (Y/N).." The freckled girl looks at her shoes trying to hide her blush.

"Well, you do you." The confident girl says while walking away.

After her little interaction with Courtney, (Y/N) and the Screaming Gophers manage to find a way to construct the hot tub in a peaceful manner which is surprising considering the personalities of some of the members.

Confession Room: (Y/N)

"I was actually surprised to see that Heather was able to not be a bitch for five minutes."

End of Confession Room

The Screaming Gophers teamwork seems even better when it’s compared to the Killer Bass who had nothing going well for them. When both teams finally finish their hot tubs, Chris arrives and to the surprise of absolutely no one, proclaims the Screaming Gophers as the winners. (Y/N) cheers with her friends even though she feels bad for the team who really looks pathetic.

"Gophers, you're safe from elimination and you get to rock this awesome hot tub for the rest of the summer. Bonus!"

The cheers get even louder for the winning team. A hot tub in this crappy camp? Definitely the best gift u could get.

The host announces that the elimination will take place tonight at the bonfire. Even if it doesn’t concern her, (Y/N) makes a note to herself to herself to go take a look.

“We won! We all get to stay here for another three days!” Lindsay excitedly shoots. Her, Heather and (Y/N) all hug, feeling proud of themselves. Even if the (e/c)-eyed girl isn’t technically part of the team, she really feels like she belongs in the Screaming Gophers.

Owen who’s still naked hug the three girls leaving them traumatized for life.

It’s time for dinner so all the candidates start walking towards to the main lodge. Once arrived (Y/N) chooses to sit with the Screaming Gophers once again. She sits between Lindsay and Cody. Today they’re eating a white unidentifiable mixture and the sight is really making the (h/c) want to throw up.

She considers proposing her meal to Lindsay but she remembers that the girl told her she was on a diet so forgets the idea. The sight of the big blonde guy in front of her gives her an idea.

”Hey Owen! Want my meal? I’m not going to eat it anyway.” The big boy nods enthusiastically.

Before (Y/N) can give her meal to the smiling guy, Lindsay grabs her arm excitedly. “Oh my god (Y/N)! Are you also on a diet? You should give me tips, you have an amazing body!”

”Well damn babe, i’m flattered.” The flirty girl winks at the blonde. “But no, i’m not on a diet or anything I just don’t feel like eating this nasty thing.”

”Well if you’re not going to eat, I’m not going to eat either!”

“God what is this, the starving club?” Gwen rolls her eyes.

“Well maybe you should join it, it looks like you need it.” Heather snaps.

”Guys what the fuck? I’m going to eat the meal, why did this even turn so dramatic.”

”Because everything’s dramatic with you.” Noah says with a smirk.

The girl sighs then turns to Lindsay. “And you’re eating too bae.”

Dinner time continues casually with everyone eating their respective meals. Before everyone realizes it, it’s already time for the elimination. While the Killer Bass is finding out who’s going to leave tonight, the Screaming Gophers are enjoying their hot tub.

(Y/N) has a cheeky dark red bikini on and when she sees Lindsay she excitedly grabs her arm. “Linds! We both have red bikinis on, we’re twinning! Aren’t we so cute?”

The blonde automatically blushes seeing the pretty girl so close to her with so little clothes. “Well let’s join the others.” The (h/c) adds seeing her friend’s flustered expression.

Once in the hot tub, (Y/N) sits between her friend and Cody. The skinny boy turns a dark shade of red just looking at the charming girl. “H-Hi (Y/N), you really look g-great!” The boy manages to get out.

”Sweetheart?”

”Yes, (Y/N)?”

”My eyes are up there.” The girl giggles while Cody’s head rapidly snaps back to look into the pretty girls eyes.

(Y/N) notices that the goth girl is standing beside the tub with her clothes on so she playfully asks. “You aren’t going to join us?”

”Being in a hot tub with strangers isn’t my cup of tea.”

”Well don’t worry, we aren’t going to be strangers for long.” The girl adds with a wink.

The team members that aren’t enjoying the hot tub are dancing for their victory and (Y/N) notices the losers shamefully walking towards their cabins. She totally forgot to go check out the elimination! She doesn’t see the homeschooled guy walking with the rest of his team so she assumes he was the one eliminated, which is not surprising considering the sexist comments he made earlier. Courtney is talking to a camera but the (h/c) is too far to actually hear what she’s saying.

”Wait guys i got to do something, i’ll be right back!” (Y/N) says before standing up.

”Leaving so soon?” Justin adds with a smirk.

”Sorry babe.” The girl says back before sending a kiss his way and getting out of the hot tub to go talk to Courtney. Heather watches the girl walk away with a suspicious gaze.

“Hey Courtney!”

The girl with a chicken hat turns towards the sound of the voice.

”Come with me, I really have some cream for your eye and I don’t want it to get infected.

”Thanks (Y/N), but it’s fine u don’t have to do that..”

”Nonsense! Come with me, you’ll feel much better I swear.” She takes Courtney’s hand and lead her to her cabin.

”Aren’t you cold?” The freckled girl asks shyly, looking at the other girl’s lack of clothing.

“Don’t worry i’m fine! I live near a beach so i’m used to walking around in a bikini even when it’s a bit more chilly.”

Courtney nods. They both arrive to the cabin and (Y/N) leads the other to her and Lindsay’s bed. “You can sit here, I just need to find my cream.”

(Y/N) opens her bag and takes a white tube in her hand. She puts a small amount of cream on one of her fingers. “Okay so you just need to close your eyes, it might hurt but you’ll feel better in a couple of hours!”

The brown-haired girl closes her eyes. She bites her lips, feeling pretty vulnerable, and before she can expect it a delicate finger touches her eye to apply cream. It does hurt a little, but the pain is bearable, so she only winces a little before biting her lips harder to avoid any more sounds from getting out.

”Here, it’s done! I hope I wasn’t too rough.” (Y/N) smiles at the girl.

”No, it was fine! Thank you so much, i really appreciate it.” Courtney lowers her eyes, feeling shy in front of the other girl’s gaze.

“No worries honey! Tell me if you need anything.” And just like that the pretty girl leaves the cabin, going back to the hot tub and leaving the brown-haired girl blushing alone.
