Summary
History proves the winners write the story. The glamour of being the one who came out on top of the conflict and stands victorious over their enemy. What the books don't show you is what happens to the people on both sides after the war is won. Harry knew this to be true as the papers wrote of the glory of being the savior but all he had was the hollowness.

Hello my lovely ones. This is another transfer that I did not realize I had missed. Somehow the docs didn't download right when I moved computers and messing around on Fanfiction the other day I was like 'wait... what is this?'! I never leave a fic incomplete so I felt terrible that this one had been forgotten about. As such, I am reposting the beginning chapters and have been working diligently to finish it for my readers who have been waiting for way too long.Always~Dash

Chapter 23

xoXOXox

Blaise leaned against the wall near the fireplace as the occupants of the room chatted away with each other and Dr. Quinn. The session had ended on what he would consider a positive note since everyone was either smiling or outright laughing at Ron’s confession that he felt like a complete moron around Pansy but didn’t really care because he loved her, and she made him happy. Pansy, for her part, had lovely little spots of pink along her cheeks still as she snuggled into the taller redhead and grinned at whatever Drake was saying to them.

His eyes roamed again and stopped for what felt like the hundredth time today on the Gryffindor Princess. She was sitting on the arm of Headmaster Snape’s chair and the two of them were talking quietly to each other. There was exaggerated gesturing to the book the man had been reading before the session and every time he seemed to make a very serious point, head nodding and expression stern, Hermione would roll her eyes and laugh before making some new point that had Snape rolling his own eyes but then giving that small smile of his.

It made his chest tight and his stomach roll and he didn’t understand why. She was happy. Hell, they both looked happy and entertained and engrossed in whatever topic was being discussed and yet he wanted nothing more than to walk over and garner her attention and steal it for himself. Jealous. He was fucking jealous and he had no reason to be.

Right behind the dawning realization came guilt. He had someone. Someone he loved so much it was hard sometimes to breathe around the feeling. He had wanted Theo for as long as he could remember so why the hell was the need to get Hermione’s attention so damn strong? He didn’t understand it and he hated not understanding something.

He jolted in surprise as a body wiggled its way under his arm and into his side. The smell of Theo’s shampoo and cologne met his senses even before he turned his head to look into his beautiful blue eyes.

“You okay, Blaise?”

He tried, desperately tried to give his usual carefree smile but he knew the moment Theo’s brow furrowed in a frown of worry that he had failed. Sighing at what was obviously the end of his ability to lie with his face and body to not upset the status quo, he leaned further into the wall and pulled Theo fully into his arms. Resting his chin on Theo’s shoulder, he nodded with his head towards the two people that had his attention.

“What do you think they discuss when they are with each other? I can’t imagine they have a ton of topics in common beyond the schoolwork and whatever the fuck the two of them are reading.”

Theo chuckled softly before turning his head to nuzzle his nose against Blaise’s cheek.

“You’re jealous.”

The tone was playful, the words a jab at the confusing emotion. He sighed again, nuzzling back at his lover as he gave up trying to ponder the issue himself.

“Yes. And I don’t know why. It’s driving me up a wall.”

Theo pulled away enough to turn and face him. Tipping his head just enough to meet his eyes, he cupped Blaise’s cheek gently, running his thumb over his cheek.

“Of course you know why. You just don’t want to admit it.”

Blaise groaned, leaning into the touch.

“No, I know why but I don’t understand it. I have you. Fuck, Theo, I’ve wanted you since our fourth year if not sooner. I love you. So yes, I know I’m jealous that Snape has her attention. What I don’t understand is why I’m jealous when all I’ve ever truly wanted is in my arms.”

Again, that soft chuckle falls between them. He has the urge to pinch Theo’s side in retaliation but manages to reign in the response to listen to the quietly spoken words that come from his lips instead.

“What you’ve wanted is someone who sees you exactly as you are and thinks you are more than enough. You’ve wanted love so deep and so encompassing it would render your ability to be nonchalant moot even as you told yourself it was never meant to be and shied away from it. You want someone who knows and can hold all your broken pieces and someone who can lift you up to your greatest potential while also keeping you surprised and on your toes and engaged.”

Blaise bit his lip, wondering if this was the moment Theo told him that he wanted too much and he wasn’t worth the effort. He had been waiting on it since the first time they kissed. Which is why the next words from the wizard’s mouth had him gaping at him in shock.

“I want that too and I want her too. So, the question now is, how do we go about convincing her that she wants us just as much?”

He sputtered. What was it about Theo suddenly being confident and cocky that had his tongue tying in knots in his mouth. It was fucking ridiculous. Salazar he wouldn’t change it for the world. On his toes, indeed.

“Are you serious?”

Theo looked up from nuzzling along his neck to meet his shocked gaze.

“When have you known me not to be serious? You started wanting her months ago when she engaged you for the first time and called you beautiful. I wanted her the day she told me she had been shielding me since charms class and to relax before I passed out from overusing my magic. It only got worse for me the night she held me, ran her fingers through my hair, and made sure I slept through the rest of the night. And my feelings for her only solidified when the next morning she not only pulled the rug out from under your feet without any effort but then pushed my own boundaries until I backed you into a corner and you kissed me. Fuck, Blaise, she is perfect for us. So how do we get her to see that? You’re the tactics guy, not me.”

His mind blanked as he realized everything he could ever want was staring him in the face. He felt those old fears well up. He wasn’t going to be enough. They would both tire of him. He was never going to be someone’s first pick or their forever choice. He was just a dressed-up fraud who could only play at being the one but whose facade would crumble the moment he let his heart get involved.

It wasn’t Theo that pulled him from his spiral but a melodic voice that had been haunting his sleep for weeks now.

“Zabini? What’s wrong?”

Both of their heads snapped to stare at Hermione as she made her way to their spot. Those chocolate brown eyes were filled with worry and anxiety as she reached out to place her hand on his arm and around Theo’s waist as if she had been doing it all their lives.

“Gr.. Granger… it’s um it’s nothing. I’m… we’re… everything is fine.”

The worry turned to hurt as she dropped her hand and stepped away from them.

“You don’t have to lie, Zabini. And you know that I can tell. You could have just said it was none of my business.”

Taking another step back, Blaise felt like his whole world was doing exactly what he thought it would, crumbling right before his eyes. Once again, it was not his ability to hold it together in any known situation that saved him but that random overconfidence that Theo seemed to get when he was falling to ruin.

“He is having an internal crisis because he is used to expecting only shit to be handed to him or happen to him and having me and knowing we agree on a certain point has thrown him off the deep end into a swirling vortex of self-doubt and pessimistic taunts. It’s rare that it happens but like me with my nightmares about losing him, he seems to have lost that perfectly put together shell and is finding out that he is in fact human after all.”

Blaise frowned at Theo’s last statement.

“Fuck you, Nott. I’ve always been human.”

Theo grinned up at him, cheeky and mischievous.

“True but you like to pretend you aren’t and later, love, that would be unseemly in the common room with everyone around.”

Blaise gasped and then stuttered Theo’s name as he felt his pants get a tad tight at those sultry words and the implication behind them. The light giggle brought his attention back to the witch that was causing his head to spin.

“Oh. Well. That makes sense. Anything I can do to help?”

He watched as Theo started to clam up only to straighten his shoulders and give her a heart melting smirk.

“Actually, Hermione, there may be. We are trying to solve an issue we are having. Care to lend a hand?”

He watched Hermione perk up at the idea of being able to help and he couldn’t stop the amusement that flowed through him mingling with the surprise at Theo’s boldness. He was absolutely going to reward his lover later tonight for getting this ball rolling. Pulling Theo back into him and matching his playful grin, he let his eyes roam from the top of her head to her cute little white trainers before finding that sultry tone of his own and using it without any guilt.

“It would mean the world to us if you would, Princess.”

He watched her flush as she always did when he turned on the charm even as she tried to keep her wits about her.

“Sure. If I can, I will.”

Theo chuckled and the sound was low, husky, sin incarnate. Blaise had to hold back a groan as his hips twitched and rubbed his ‘very much interested in this development’ cock against Theo’s ass. Theo let out a soft groan of his own before settling more heavily against him.

“You see, Blaise and I, we have come to realize that while we are unbearably happy we finally have each other, we are both wanting something just a bit more. There’s this witch…”

Blaise nuzzled against Theo even as he kept his eyes on Hermione’s and continued where Theo left his perfectly timed pause.

“She’s beautiful and smart. Full of so much kindness and love. She’s protective and generous and really everything a guy could want in a woman. But…”

He ran his hands down Theo’s sides, sliding them to rest on his stomach, pinkies playing with the hem of his shirt as Theo picked up where he left off.

“Well, see, we don’t know how she would feel about being with both of us but Merlin, we crave the very idea. Any thoughts on how to go about approaching her, asking her on a date, convincing her to take a chance on two broken and snobbish pureblood shitheads?”

Blaise barely held in his laugh as Theo laid it on thick, adding his own thoughts to the matter.

“Reformed snobbish pureblood shitheads, love. Don’t forget the reformed part.”

He kissed Theo’s neck as Theo murmured ‘right, reformed’ with a groan. Hermione’s mouth opened and closed a couple of times before she cleared her throat, shifting restlessly from foot to foot.

“Well, I mean, do whatever the hell it is you're doing right now when you ask her out and I think she might be too muddled in the head to contemplate any other answer except yes.”

Both he and Theo turned heated eyes to her as her words tumbled over each other. Perfect.

“In that case…”

Blaise leaned down to nibble along Theo’s neck as he spoke, letting the breathy groan from his lover pull one of his own from deep in his throat.

“Will you consider going to Hogsmeade with us this weekend, Princess?”

As Blaise posed the question to the beautiful witch in front of them, Theo ran his hand up into his hair, pulling it just enough to have his eyes fluttering closed in pure bliss as he spoke.

“It would mean everything to us if you would.”

Pink infused her cheeks as she tried to hold in a gasp of arousal.

“Me?”

They both looked at her again, letting her see the affection and hunger they had for her.

“Yes, love, you.”

She shook her head, trying to clear it, Blaise hoped, and not as the answer to their question. Her mouth opened and closed twice before she bit her lip with a groan.

“That is some underhanded, Slytherin shit if I ever saw it. Reformed, my ass!”

Blaise and Theo both laughed as they stood up straighter. As if they had planned it, Blaise moved to bracket her left side as Theo moved to her right.

“And it’s a lovely ass, indeed, Princess. Is that a yes?”

She glared at them both before once again sighing, cheeks getting just a tad darker in color.

“Yes, Zabini, that’s a yes.”

He knew Theo's grin matched his as he leaned down to speak directly into her ear.

“I think it’s about time you called me Blaise, Hermione.”
