Chapter 1
‘Regulus’ yells an older girl, walking through the many flowers in a valley. She could barely spot him, the top of his head sticking out as if it were black ink on a colorful canvas.
Regulus looked up to see his older cousin, Andromeda who carefully took his hand and guided him out of the valley. She was the nicest out of the Black family and that’s what made her Regulus’ favorite. ‘We should get back now, father and uncle have some important news for us’.

There was a dinner being held at 12 Grimmauld Place for both the main branch of house Black and the side. Each of the heirs from both sides knew this dinner was not going to go well, it never did. Orion the head of house Black sat at the end of the table with his wife Walburga on his right, across sat his younger brother Cygnus and his wife Druella on his right. Sirius sat beside his mother and Regulus, whilst Bellatrix, Andromeda, and Narcissa sat across from them. The tension in the room was normal but it only grew when Orion stood up to give a speech. ‘This dinner is a celebration, a celebration not only for a marriage uniting two powerful houses but also a celebration for ending the feud with House Armani’. ‘Marriage between who?’ Walburga asked. ‘The marriage is between House Armani’s oldest son and our dear Andromeda,’ Druella said smugly, knowing it will hurt Walburga’s ego. Bellatrix was already engaged to a Lestrange and Narcissa was promised to a Malfoy, but Andromeda was neither, her heart belonged to a muggle. Hogwarts was almost over for her already, she knew if she wanted an out, now was the time. The muggle Ted Tonks was her love and she was his, she would risk anything for him and being a Black would be the ‘anything’ to risk.
The following days the headlining from the Daily Prophet was the announcement of a disowned Black. The question that kept on popping up into Regulus’ head was ‘why, why did Andromeda leave everything she had for a muggle’. Depending on who he asked, the question was answered in many ways, but the one answer that stuck with him was ‘because of love’. The definition of love was ‘an intense feeling of deep affection’, this is where Regulus never understood until him. He was the Sun, a star so warm and golden, well Regulus was simply a smaller one who blended in with the others. James Potter was his soulmate, his first love, and his first heartbreak. He was Regulus’ right person and not enough time. The heartbreak was unbearable for Regulus and he was sure he would not be able to make it out alive. The pain swallowed Regulus whole, but that was the only thing that reminded him, he was alive. That was the thrill of being with James, the story of two people falling in love knowing they can never be together. Regulus and James were a pair of stars, who were simply waiting for the gravitational force to cause their destruction. This was the beauty of heartbreak, it was so heart-wrenchingly beautiful that all Regulus could do was savor this moment knowing his own end was to come.
