Rabbits on the Blue Moon
Summary
A collection of snippets of works which I have - ideas which I will, someday, hopefully get around to posting in full (after I finish some of my works I already have up, that is).If one of my prompts/premises inspires you, then please feel free to run with it.(or; otherwise, a glimpse into the many, many ideas swirling around in thatdamnuchiha's head - really it's a wonder I get anything done with the amount of plotbunnies hopping around - welcome to the rabbit hole, darlings.)
Note
Hi All,This is a collection, as such, of at least part of the first chapter of some of the works I have rattling around in that brain of mine. In time, I will hopefully turn all these plotbunnies into full-length works, but as I mentioned - I'd like to reduce my ongoing work count before I do such a thing.Of course, if you've read any other of my works, you'll know how little self-control I have for posting new works up (this 'work' compiling these ideas is hopefully to circumvent that problem), though comments are a welcome motivation for me to write more on these works before hopefully posting them up with an update schedule which has thus far eluded me.Hopefully you enjoy these little teasers of what's to come - and if you get inspired by one of these little plotbunnies, feel free to write your own take on it and let me know about it.Hope you enjoy!

A Melody of Iron and Ash (Silmarillion/LOTR/Naruto Crossover)

Starlit skies above her were marred with ash and iron, the melody of that world ringing in her ears as she took her first breaths in a world where she stuck out like a sore thumb. That was only to be expected though.

Nothing made through Melkor’s hand could ever be without its thorns.

(or; in which Sakura grows up as her father’s greatest creation, his beloved daughter, whose very existence is a spite to Eru.)

chapter one • the little iron queen

There was a juxtaposition between life and death; existence and nonexistence, and what it meant to come into being once more with nothing more than a whisper of a melody and a song of power.

From nothing into something she went, bare feet set against the cold stone ground at the dark altar upon which she had been made. She was bare, unclad aside from the skin she wore, huddled up with her knees against her chest. Pink hair fell around her, long and puddling around her small form. Her eyes opened, burning amber irises looking around ever so curiously.

She had been in pieces, but then she was whole.

She had been alone in the dark, but then she wasn’t.

She had been dead, but then she was alive.

Air found its way into her lungs, warm and smoky, and Sakura looked up, aware then of eyes on her. Mirror images of her eyes looked down on her, and she wasn’t entirely certain of what was going on, instead there was only one certainty before her.

“Another failure,” the shorter figure she had almost not noticed spoke up, the words coming out in a completely different language which she understood for some strange reason. Never mind the fact that he had called her a failure – something she never wanted to be again. Amber eyes which didn’t resonate with her own gave her another passing glance, something like distain hidden in their depths, before that stare was gone, fixed instead on the sole other occupant of the large room.

There came a grinding sound, like the earth was cracking and reforming, and then those amber eyes too much like her own left her. Emptiness filled her at the loss of that gaze, amber eyes wide as she watched the hulking back begin to retreat.

Sakura stumbled to her feet, almost tripping over her much too long hair as she took a few paces after what could only be her—“Father!” her voice came out much too high-pitched, her limbs far too small as she chased after the being who’d made her feel at home in that strange, unfamiliar place. “Father…” she murmured, coming to a stop after a few paces as the larger figure paused mid-step. “You are my father, aren’t you?”

Burning amber eyes locked upon her, breath catching as those eyes seemed to take in every inch of her tiny, bare form. Skin which almost seemed to have a purple tinge gleamed beneath the faint embers of light which illuminated the dreary room. Teeth revealed themselves in a grin, and Sakura felt oddly warm and fuzzy at the idea that she had pleased her new father. “Daughter,” he spoke, voice as great and terrible as the mountains.

A smile curled at her own lips. “Father!” she proclaimed once more, racing to catch up with him as he stood there with his… colleague? Amber eyes flickered over the one who’d called her a failure for a few moments before they turned back on her father. Part of her wasn’t entirely certain of why she felt so very attached to the figure before her, what with how she’d had one father before. She’d also had a mother before.

She didn’t have a mother that time around. Sakura tilted her head, pondering on that thought for a few moments, some small voice in the back of her head whispering that such a creation of existence was impossible. At least for a human.

Looking up into those amber eyes of her father, those thoughts raced away, the part of her which had undeniably imprinted on him like a baby bird happy to place her tiny hand in his much larger one and follow him as he led her through the dark, winding halls.
