Hobby Farm's secret

Portal network… though they don’t know it.

On having taken her son’s school to court over the bullying and Quirk abuse Inko immediately looks around for someone where else to go.
Then, a Hero/ Villain fight just happens to rip through their quiet neighbourhood.
It was a good thing she'd been planning to move anyway... even if her boy is sad about the loss of his Merch collection.

Her great-grandmama was a farm girl. Maybe it's time to get back to her roots and it will be good to get away.
The little mountain fishing/ farming village near a beach seems ideal.
There’s a hobby farm there that needs a tourist manager as it’s often used as a retreat or a working holiday.
They’re gone inside of a month.

The farm has a high turnover of caretakers because it’s actually a portal to a Naru vs.
Can only be accessed with her uncoerced permission.

In Minato’s time.
They stash people who need to disappear for a bit through the portal.
The longer they spend on the other side of the portal, the more age they shed on their return. So, if they spend time on both sides, the time loss is minimal.

During the Kyuubi attack, Inko directed people through the portal, anyone and everyone.
There were still heavy losses but not as many as there would be otherwise.

The hobby farm is outside of the local village and it has a lot of space around it.
It has space for them to set up tents and the ocean access has a hidden cove for them to fish at.

It also answers the questions as to where the Uzu refugees went to as well.
Being born on the other side of the portal, despite having Chakra, means they age a native would and their Chakra network is far weaker.
It was treated as a family line Quirk. Those were rare enough but they did happen. The Uzumaki turned their Seal Works into something like that. What they lost in power they made up in precision.

Kushina had wanted to have her child through the portal but been denied. Not by Minato, but by the Bidju within her. It told her it would rip itself free if she tried…
As it’s half the Bidju it once was and exhausted from being resealed, it has NO choice when Inko takes Naruto and Menma across.

The Uchiha have been sneaking their weaker members across for years. As have the Nin Cats. There's a refuge further back in the mountains.

Uchiha Mikoto sent two of her children across.
(Itachi she couldn’t save. Sasuke and Suzuki though. So many infants died in the months following the attack. No one suspected, though they mourned the loss.)

So many of the most vulnerable were lost as the Chakra residue was too much for them, including to the bemusement of all, Danzo Shimura.
The bunker he’d been hiding in was saturated in Bidju Chakra, poison/burning all within.
Dai Might was heavily affected, as was his daughter Gaya (sprout progress) Might. She’s stronger and more resilient but she will likely never be able to have children.
The family he was beholden to was wiped out completely.

Long story short, the Uchiha had a quarter of their family on the other side of the portal.
Mikoto took Itachi to visit whenever she could and the twins were raised much as the Uzumaki twins were, half here, half there and with big brother Izuku watching over them all.
Big brother was training as a blacksmith and learning Taijutsu alongside Gaya chan in the meantime. He was strong, fast, kind and took no shit.

He was also the one who found some stranger with a sack that had a little girl in it over his shoulder and threw a hammer at the man.
The man had dropped the sack in order to fend off the hammer.
Izuku wasn’t ninja fast but he was strong.
Strong enough to break a few limbs and then bind the stranger with a tree with the ninja wire he’d been about to deliver to a client.

The bag had a little girl in it.

He took her to the hospital and a message was sent to her Clan.

Izuku sent a message to the client as well.

As he’d knocked the man out and he’d been picked up shortly after, alive, Kumo didn’t have a leg to stand on.

Izuku found himself quite bemused as the Hyuuga now owed him and keep inviting him around.
Izuku accepts but warns them that he knows pretty much nothing of the highborn manners they might expect.
He doesn’t have any formal clothing outside of summer Yukata either.

Izuku didn’t want to be bothered with fussy things but he couldn’t turn them down either.
Then, he had a brainwave and, asking Sarutobi san and his mother’s permission, he introduced only the Clan Head and his wife to the Portal.
Now they had something over him too and the whole ‘debt’ thing could be dropped.

Even so, his mother was approached and the offer of teaching how to act in a high-born setting was offered.

Inko accepted but only if they’d be willing to help train some of her charges too.

And so two sets of twins and an older teen began their training with the Head’s daughter and her cousin.

It was bemusing but Izuku was okay with it.
Getting Menma and Naruto to sit was difficult though.
Half Uzumaki AND Jinchuriki? The two were practically burning with energy.
It was easier to train hell out of them and then clean up and go for lessons. They didn’t quite have ADHD but it was a near thing.
Naruto was loud, slightly obnoxious, and a ball of energy and sunshine.
Menma was quieter but more of a thinker. His hair was darker than Naruto’s as well though both had the blue eyes and the whisker marks.
Sasuki is serious like a typical Uchiha but has a hidden hint of mischievousness.
Suzuki is a literal fireball. She hasn’t the red hair but she does have a raging temper and unusual dark red-hued eyes.
Mikoto, it seemed, was very similar as a child but it was quickly (crushed) trained out of her.

Accustomed to handling fiery people due to her best friend Mitsuki, Inko is able to help her temper it.
All four younglings were having lessons with their clan on the other side of the portal already but they needed to return to this side for the more Chakra-intensive lessons.

The Village is actually doing decently well as the remaining Root, lacking Danzo sama or a second to take orders from, reported to the Hokage who soon had a box of worms (a can wasn’t big enough for a shit storm of this magnitude) to try and sort and it was very wiggly indeed.
Somewhere along the line, his childhood friend had completely lost the plot. His paranoia and desire for power had actually CAUSED more trouble for Konoha than if fixed.
Wasn’t it just amazing how the agitating against the Uchiha dropped to almost nothing with him gone?

It took a few years but suddenly the Village wasn’t a tinder box waiting to explode.

Everyone knows a new Jinchuriki was made but no one knows who it is.

Also, with their sire’s reputation, both boys ware a henge tag that turns their hair Uzumaki red while on the ninja side of the Portal.
They aren't blinked at twice.
Uzumaki turn up from time to time and Konoha welcomes them. They’re even being trained in Seals and that’s USEFUL.
All Konoha nin are asked to keep an eye out for Uzumaki and issue an invitation to Konoha if they’re open to it.
This results in two from a healing line, a little ink user, a small blacksmith family and a couple of fisherfolk.
The twins are excited to meet cousins no matter what trade their family is in.

Sasuki and Suzuka were pouty that they had to stay secret when Naruto and Menma could be Uzumaki in public… even if they weren’t allowed to tell about the Bidju or their sire.
They were STILL acknowledged though.

Inko san told them to wait and see. See how their older, acknowledged, brother was pushed.
And he was. Pushed hard. At least they just got normal training. Itachi was pushed so hard he could barely breathe and Mikoto wasn’t allowed to help much.
Being in a Clan was very rigid and restraining even where it provided structure and support.
Maybe they were luckier not being fully acknowledged.

Izuku, to his bemusement, got into U.A. as the Principals personal pick.
He would have been content with General Studies or Business Track… or the Support Course but instead he’d be attending bits and pieces between lessons with Nedzu Sensei.

Two sets of twins and one Clan Head’s daughter are terribly disappointed when he goes away for three years to attend U.A. though they are excited to visit.

Nedzu knows of the portal. One of his own parents was from there. A minor Chakra-infused animal who hadn’t lived long away from it but still managed to sire a litter or two.
Nedzu has one other sibling similar to him who slipped back through the portal. Nedzu just had the misfortune to be captured and carted off to the lab before he could too.
Due to that, he’s a bit more accommodating to those from beyond the portal… and those who guard it.

Izuku has no interest in being a Hero… looking at it objectively, it’s messed up and will crumble soon.
Most of his focus was through the portal and the messy if rather less restricted world beyond.
They don’t have phones and radio and pay tv on the shinobi side… and a lot of information is locked down.
They learn so much more in school on the Hero side than they do the Shinobi.
Information flowed so much more freely on the other side of the Portal. It would be hard to go without on the shinobi side.

That was part of what Izuku wanted to fix.
Even brick phones would be better than the crappy radios they had now. What tech the place did have was leaked from the non shinobi side. It was why it was so choppy.
The Shinobi said was DANGEROUS and Izuku wanted to do all that he could to ensure his friends would be coming back ALIVE.
It wasn't too hard to see the parallels between the kid soldiers on the Shinobi side and the 'Herolings' on the other. The Shinobi side just trained them early and was more blatant about it.
Izuku wasn't interested in being a child soldier on either side.

Various foodstuffs/ spices and herbs were carted back and forth as well and the stuff from the non shinobi side sold for a fortune.
The hobby farm provided all they needed so the Midoriyas would never lack for funds. They have a steady stream of gold flowing into their bank accounts.

Nedzu helped hide their funds. The whole village within a village actually.

The tourists coming for their working vacation were subjected to a gentle genjutsu equivalent that steered them away from certain areas and discouraged curiosity about others.

Even with all of that, a section of the Shinobi side Uchiha try and rebel.
They are turned on and suppressed harshly.
The adults and nin are sealed and killed while the children are sent through the portal, never to return.
All knowledge of the Shinobi side is sealed away and the Clan on this side takes them in.
There were only seven or so but it was still a hard loss.
Fugaku Uchiha was among them. Itachi is forced to step up as new head.
This was instigated by something but they aren’t sure what.

There should also be more Uzumaki and half-bloods. Where are they all? What happened?

When the brats want to go to U.A. as well, Izuku suggests Seijin instead as they are more accommodating to shinobi aims.
The brats, all four (six with a run-away Gaara and Fuu) accept.

Three years is a long time but every one of them comes back with their Hero Licence...
Then they go through the Portal again and work on the Shinobi equivalent.
None of them are particularly sure they WANT to be Village nin though.

A freelance lifestyle might suit them better...
They do want access to the Portal though and their family there.
Hmmm.

Wasn't Uzu ALSO supposed to have a portal? What happened to it?
