The closest, not the cupboard.

They were sat in the living room, his dad was doing some paper work as mum and his siblings were out doing something or other. Ruben wasn't listening when they left.

"Dad? How did you know you were bi?" Ruby asked.

"What you mean, Bud?" Harry replied.

"Like how did you know you weren't straight?" He asked, Surprisingly his dad started laughing.

"I'm the wrong person to ask that question. My bisexual awakening was a girl, actually."

"wait...Really?!"

"I sort've always knew I liked guys, little crushes, or guys I found attractive. Thought I was gay until third year. Honestly its surprising that I've only dated women, given my preference." Harry said, chuckling. "Is there anything else you want ruby?"

"I don't think that I'm straight." Ruby said. "I don't think I like girls at all" He doesn't really know why he's so nervous, Ruben crosses his arms over his chest looking down. His father, walks over to him and sits in front him, putting his hands on Ruben's shoulders.

"Thank you for telling me, Kiddo. I'm proud of you." Looking into his father's eyes.

"I'm gay, Dad." He is then pulled into a strong hug.

"I take it there's a reason you're deciding to tell me now, Rubes?" Harry whispered, Pulling away from the hug to sit next to his son, but staying close. Ruby could feel his cheeks tuning red.

"There may be someone that I like..." Ruben admitted quietly.

"Is this a certain blonde Slytherin by any chance?" Asked Harry.

Ruben felt his jaw open, wide with shock.,

"How did yo-"

"I know my children well." Harry cut in.

"You knew I wasn't straight?"

"I guessed, but didn't want to assume. Coming out is very personal, and I know what its like to be outed. you feel very exposed. I wanted you to come to me on your own terms, not forced out of the closet."

"You were outed?"

"Got caught staring at a bloke by my cousin, told all his mates. Homophobic as well as racist his friends were. Also that photo of me snogging a Ravenclaw lad in fifth year. Nothing much I could do to stop it really."

"I'm sorry that happened, Dad."

"all was well in the end." Harry patted his son on the shoulder.

"Never be ashamed of who you are, it is a wonderful thing to be who you are and anyone who will make you feel anything less than an absolutely amazing kid, does not deserve you in their life."

"Thank you dad." "who else knows?"

"Scorpius does"

"Thought so", Harry laughed

"I love you, bud. Do you want to go get some ice cream?"

"What about the others?" Harry had a sly grin on his face,

"What they don't know, will never hurt them, I feel like we need something to make this an even better day. Don'cha think?"

"Butter beer flavoured?"

"I think that can be arranged." Harry said, before they both made their way to the fireplace.
