New Friends
Harry woke up at exactly 5:40. He quickly cursed Jayden’s stupid schedule and got up.
The eleven year old decided to quickly unpack. Before that, though, he put some anti-access wards around his room that would probably hold.
Harry discovered that the ominous door in his room was a bathroom with a small walk-in closet. This was great.
After showering, changing clothes, brushing his teeth, and putting a few charms on to make him smell better, he was ready to face the day.
The savior casted a quick Tempus.
It was 6:30 in the morning, and he could hear some of the new Slytherins just now getting up.
Damn it.
Harry sat down in the quite cozy chair at his desk and took out an inkwell, quill, and parchment. Writing quick letters to Remus, Jayden, and Gabriel, he sent Hedwig off with them.
That was, after she stopped pecking the innocent snakes on the walls. Thorn stopped after that too because he didn’t want to fight Saphira alone. She was quite a scary eight foot long snake.
He finally stood up and was somewhat prepared for the day after triple checking his bag. Another Tempus revealed it to be merely 7:00. Harry got his bag, said goodbye to Thorn, let Saphira crawl up his sleeve once she shrank down to two feet, and walked into the common room.
Several older Slytherins were already milling around the room. Most of them happened to be reading near the fire, so Harry found an empty sofa and followed their lead.
Harry managed to read for a few minutes before Draco, Vincent, and Gregory found him. They made themselves comfy before speaking.
“We’re leaving in a few minutes,” Draco announced promptly. “I was talking to Flint and found out. It seems rather early, but Slytherins have to remain proper and all. Apparently that means we go to breakfast at seven thirty every day.”
“Even weekends?” Harry questioned. He wasn’t really surprised, honestly. Or disappointed. This was better than Jayden’s schedule already, even though he at least got Sundays off. Sometimes Saturdays, too.
Draco nodded. “Even weekends,” he whined. “I understand that proper houses are always proper, but I just want to rest a few days. This hair doesn’t get styled from nothing, you know.”
“Unfortunate,” Harry drawled out his sympathy. “Truly, it is.”
“Harry!” the blond gasped. Apparently he was offended now. “I’ll have you know, it took an hou-“
Harry was saved from answering by a prefect older than Flint announcing they were leaving. He happily walked off to breakfast after he snatched his book and his bag.
Draco shoved his way after him. He was helped by Vincent and Gregory, who were on his left and right as they pushed their way to him.
Nearly skipping, Harry avoided them all the way to the Great Hall. He slipped into a seat and started putting a normal amount of food in his plate.
A certain heir to the Malfoy line appeared in front of him, fuming and so red in the face he looked almost like a tomato.
“Merlin, Potter, I will end your life.” Draco swore.
Harry smiled a cheeky grin. “So its Potter now, Malfoy?” This resulted in a smack to the head from the mentioned blond.
The rest of the first years slowly made their way towards them. Blaise, Vincent, Pansy, and Gregory soon joined them.
“I think we should befriend more girls,” Pansy announced. “No offense, but I feel rather left out. If this continues I swear I will unintentionally become a feminist.”
The only first-years in their house that they haven’t talked to was Theodore Nott, Millicent Bulstrode, Daphne Greengrass, and Tracey Davis. Greengrass and Davis appeared to be the best of friends already. Nott and Bulstrode appeared to be rather lonely but didn’t talk to each other. Pansy ended up talking to all of them.
“Hello,” Pansy started. “I’m Pansy Parkinson. Do you want to be friends with my group and I?”
Bulstrode eyed her skeptically but complied. The rest followed suit.
Daphne Greengrass was a girl with striking blue eyes and blonde hair. She was pretty, but not pretty enough to be considered beautiful.
Theodore Nott was tall and gangly. He had brown hair and blue eyes- nothing remarkable.
Tracey Davis, like Theodore, was not very noticeable either. She had plain brown blonde hair and brown eyes to match. She was rather short and not very pretty at all.
Millicent Bulstrode had pimples and zits all over her quite plump face. She also had brown hair and eyes. Harry was pretty sure that Millicent was what people would consider an ‘ugly girl’, but he was not around them enough to find a difference.
“Introductions!” Pansy clapped her hands happily. “You already know me. Why don’t we go clockwise and say our names and something about us?”
Harry huffed. Blaise was right next to a certain menace of a girl, so he glared at her and said, “I’m Blaise Zabini. I enjoy charms a lot, I guess.”
“Vincent Crabbe.” Vincent started. Harry was surprised. This was the first time Vincent had spoken. “I suffer from a disease called cerebral palsy that makes speaking, moving, and seeing things quite difficult.”
The group expressed their noises of sympathy. Harry didn’t understand why Draco didn’t tell him this earlier.
Gregory went next. “I’m Gregory Goyle, and I also have cerebral palsy.” Short and to the point. He wondered if it got more painful the bigger and older you got.
Draco shifted uncomfortably. “Well, I’m Draco Malfoy. I absolutely despise red apples and will only eat green ones.” Interesting, interesting.
“Daphne Greengrass,” this one was the first that Harry hadn’t met yet. “Flying on a broomstick is my worst fear and I will hex you dead if you make me get on one.” Tracey Davis, who was beside her, nodded approvingly.
The same girl spoke, “Hello, I’m Tracey Davis, and I might just spill your secrets in my sleep because I sleep talk a lot.”
“Millicent Bulstrode. I have anxiety due to private matters I will not be sharing.” Harry was beginning to think that every Slytherin had some sort of mental or physical disorder.
Harry was next, being sat across from Millicent. “Uh, well, I’m Harry Potter. I have a habit of adopting random pets.”
Pansy nodded in approval. “Now that that’s done, I think breakfast is a necessity we all need right now.”
