Stuck out arms tend to break

*March 10th 1972*

Unsurprisingly, it was quite difficult to get the “marauders” as they were calling themselves to quiet down on their friend, Remus’s birthday. They’d formed a brotherhood, those boys. They’d been parading around all day with their friend, sticking arms out shouting “make way for the birthday boy!” And Remus himself, blushing and apologizing quietly to people as they walked by. It truly was a sight to see. In class they attempted to convince Minerva that she shouldn’t give them homework as it was “cruel” as they put it. She still assigned it. During lunchtime they had told the ghosts that they should start flying around singing happy birthday. Only one ghost, Peeves agreed to and did it.
“I’m worried for those boys. With all that rough housing it’s only a matter of when I have to see one of them and I already have to see Mr. Lupin enough.” Poppy told her at dinner.
“Agreed. I can only keep them safe for so long.” Minnie agreed.

Later in the evening Minerva could hear faint noises of a Gryffindor birthday party as the first years had not yet learned their silencing charms. Knowing it was most likely all good fun and not disturbing her sleep she let it continue and got herself ready for sleep. She combed her hair and got into her pajamas, Before going to sleep. As she was just begging to drift off to sleep, she was able to hear a a small crash filled by the clambering of students. As the head of Gryffindor she knew something was wrong. She grabbers her wand and quickly casted a spell to get her back into her robes before leaving her dorm. She figured she could just walk past the Gryffindor tower to make sure nothing was seriously wrong. She walked quietly and quickly through the corridors in the direction of Gryffindor tower. Before she even got there, however, she was greeted by the four noisiest boys in her first year transfigurations class. With concerned looks on their faces they saw her and started looking at each other to figure out what to do. Before she gave them the options they could decide from she spoke up.
“Boys. What are you doing out of your dorms in the middle of the night. You do know there is school in the morning as well. Please explain.” She asked. She knew they were awake. She was truly more concerned for the well being of the boys.
“Oh, Professor, you see, James here had a small accident so we’re just bringing him to Madam Pomfrey to make sure it’s alright, now have a nice night.” Sirius explained. He never calls her professor.
“Mr. Black. Please enlighten me and try to explain what has happened.” She asked with an emphasis on the try. All four of them started looking at each other not knowing what to say.
“Mr. Potter. Please come here.” She asked. He looked to his friends shortly before stepping forward. His left arm being held delicately with his right.
“What has happened.”
“I hurt my arm.” James responded. He was upset and clearly in pain.
“He thinks it’s broken.” Sirius said after going a record breaking five minutes quiet. Peter promptly elbowing him in the ribs.
“Well then, I will walk him to Madam Pomfrey and you boys go back to the tower and sleep.” She told them.

Minerva and James then started the walk quietly to the infirmary before Minerva asked him,
“How is your mother and father doing?” Minerva asked the boy.
“They’re well. My fathers been doing a small amount of work for the Ministry and my mothers been up at St. Mungos.” He told her. “Do you know them?” He asked.
“Yes. We were good friends during our own years as students.” She told him.

They got to the door of the infirmary and Minnie knocked lightly to wake Madam Pomfrey. The sleepy nurse slowly opened the door.
“Deeply sorry to wake you Poppy, but it seems here Mr. Potter hurt his arm. Do you think you could have a quick look at it?” Minerva asked.
“Yes of course.” Poppy whispered back, ushering the two in the door.
Poppy looked over James arm before declaring what she noticed.
“Yes it does seem to be broken, however I can easily fix that it just might be uncomfortable for a few moment, alright?” Poppy told him.
James nodded his head in acknowledgment.
Poppy took out her wand before casting a spell to fix his arm.
“¡Dios Mio!” James shouted as she did. His face let the two know he was still in pain for another two or so minutes before his arm felt better. Minerva thanked Poppy for helping the boy before walking James back to Gryffindor tower to send him to his dorm.
