Regulus knows everything

april 7th, 1986

“if you guys could choose a superpower to have, what would you choose?” Lily suddenly asked, putting her Pepsi can down.

“invisibility.” Remus said, at the same time as Regulus, who started laughing as soon as they met eyes.

“flying,” Sirius stated, as James groaned in disgust. “what?” James raised his brows at him, making him laugh. “oooh, that’s right, almost forgot!”

James dropped his head, apparently seeing the questions come.

“wait, what?” Mary asked, invested by now. “what’s going on?” Sirius snickered, still looking at a laughing James who was shaking his head.

“our dearest Prongsieboy, is afraid of flying.”

Lily took one look at him and started laughing, throwing an arm around him, kissing his cheek.

“sorry love, but that’s the lamest thing i’ve heard all day.”

“all year, actually.” Regulus interfered, resulting in James giving him the finger.

“thanks Pads.” Sirius nodded proudly.

Remus looked at him for a bit, staring in pure ecstasy. Sirius caught his eye from the other side of the room; smiling. Remus smiled back, once again unable to help it.

“the day you guys stop flirting like this in public, is the day i’ll be able to live peacefully.” Regulus groaned, grinning under his hand.

“the day you’ll stop talking is the day i’ll be able to live peacefully.” Sirius threw his hair into a bun.

for some reason Sirius and Marlene had decided that going to a group mug painting course would be a fun idea, Remus wasn’t too happy about it. seriously,—

“why?” Regulus moaned, as Sirius and Marlene excitingly jumped up and down. “am i allowed to stay home?”

“no you’re not.”

“you’re no boss of me.”

“Reg—”

“i’m staying here as well, i’m not gonna paint mugs. its stupid.” Remus said, brows raised as Sirius threw his arms in the air in protest.

“thank you!” Regulus agreed, as Remus gave him a side smirk. Sirius groaned and snapped his fingers.

“come on Moony! you gotta come.” he pleaded, but Remus sat back further into the sofa.

“no.” Remus said. “it’s stupid, and i’m tired.”

“then go to bed.”

“gladly, but you’re making me come to a stupid mug painting thing, so i can’t.”

“come and i’ll surprise you later.” Sirius winked. Remus started laughing, he wasn’t necessarily embarrassed, he just thought it was funny.

“gross.”

“aw, look at my mug,” Mary gasped. “look at the little sheep!”

Remus laughed, but he managed to hide it after seeing Lily glare at him from across the table. Sirius grinned next to him, raising his brows.

“wow, love it, Mar.” Sirius said, poking out his tongue in concentration, while adding details to the moon he had painted on his mug. “cute, right?” he asked Remus with a smug grin, whose cheeks turned pink.

“love it.”

“i know you do.”

the class was overal not that interesting, nor fun, in Remus’s opinion it was quite literally the most boring thing he’d ever been dragged along to — except for the part when he realized what Sirius was painting on his mug; a moon, with his own star + the constellation next to it.

however, Remus was incredibly tired. he desperately wanted to sleep, to just fall into bed and stay asleep for years.

but the others had another plan—

“CAMPING ON THE TRAMPOLINE!”

“please no, i might get violent,” Remus admitted. “except against Reg; he’s the only one here who agrees with me.”

“i agree.”

“when will you stop flirting with my little brother?” Sirius furrowed his brows, sitting himself down on the sofa.

“he likes me better.” Regulus’s statement was met by a slap on the head, coming from Sirius, as Remus snickered from a corner.

if there was something Remus wasn’t feeling up to, it would be camping on the trampoline;

reason one. it was freezing.

reason two. there would be so many bugs.

reason three. who would even do that for fun?

“come on you guys! it’s fun!” Peter laughed out. Remus rolled his eyes, taking a sip of his coke as he went.

no one thinks its fun to sleep outside, in the cold.” Regulus said, sighing. “literally no one.”

“just say you’re boring and move on.” Peter grinned, making Regulus roll his eyes as well.

“am not.”

despite Remus and Regulus’s complains, they were now building a ford around the Evans’s trampoline. for a second, Remus had to remind himself that this wasn’t a group of eight year olds; they were a group of eighteen year olds.

it was incredibly cold, it seemed to be only getting colder overnight. Remus wanted to die; it was literally as cold as it could possibly be, but the others didn’t even seem to notice.

“not like that!” Marlene yelled from the other side of the trampoline as she came running towards their side. “you need to clip it! don’t make knots in it! for fuck’s sake Mary!”

“i wasn’t the one whose plan this was, so leave me be.” Mary said, making a knot in the cover, ignoring Marlene’s comments. “i don’t care.”

“if we freeze to death, it’s your fault.” Peter snickered, but Mary just threw a pillow at him and ignored his comment. “ouch.”

after a while, a little longer than an hour, possibly; they had finally made a ‘tent’ above the trampoline. Remus already wanted to cry, and they hadn’t even laid there for more than five minutes.

“didn’t you tell me i’d be in for a surprise if i came to the class?” Remus whispered in Sirius’s ear, who grinned.

“yeah?” Sirius laughed. “isn’t this a fun surprise?”

“Not my idea of fun, but whatever you want, love.” Remus grinned, throwing an arm around Sirius while kissing his hair. he honestly couldn’t even be mad.

despite it being freezing outside, the heat of the eight of them in such a small place together, made it more bare-able.

“ugh it’s freezing.” Peter groaned, wrapping himself in a blanket as Regulus threw his hands in the air.

“seriously?”

“i didn’t think it would be this cold!” he protested. “plus, it wasn’t just my idea!”

Regulus sighed and grabbed a new pillow, resting his arm on it. it was quiet for a bit, but Remus felt Sirius snicker against his shoulder, making him grin.

“i miss her.” Marlene moaned, leaning her head against Mary’s shoulder, who stroked her head.

“miss who?” Lily asked, brows furrowed as Marlene just gave her a knowing look. “no way! no way! you actually?—”

Marlene started giggling, bouncing up and down on the trampoline as Lily just stared with her mouth agape. Mary still sat next to her, laughing as well.

“wait, who is this about?” James asked, trying to get the girls’ attention, but they didn’t seem to notice.

“Dorcas.” Regulus answered, grinning. “the girl our Marls has been obsessing over for like, a year?” he looked at Mary for confirmation. “yeah, a year.”

“how do you even know all this?” Sirius snorted, Regulus shrugged.

“i’m around them pretty much twenty-four/ seven. i know everything.”

Lily laughed, running a hand through her hair, that, as Remus noticed, seemed even more red than usual; in the best way possible.

“no you don’t, there’s plenty we don’t tell you.” Regulus let out a laugh.

“there’s plenty you guys don’t even know i know.”
