Welcome to the orphanage

She found out that she turned into her child self when she entered this world, why she doesn't know.

This hinders things for her, while she has access to her magic fully, the only downside is that she tires easily.

The wraith-like creatures she found herself at home with, seem to mother hen her.

Which she still doesn't know how to react to.

Spending these past few days with them, was… interesting.

Well She's not really certain about the time she’s spent here, time here could be different for all she knows.

If she got hungry, one of them stood on stand-by with food in its maw, where they've gotten the food from, Valeria does not want to know.

She's grateful nonetheless.

And she can't decline it, not with the way they are staring at her in an  imploring way, their eyes bottomless as the void.

A normal person would run for the hills, but Valeria was never a normal 'person', was she?

She found it…adorable, to be completely honest.

And when she would fall asleep, she'd suddenly feel light as though someone was carrying her…

Even though she should be concerned by it all, Valeria can't be bothered in actuality.

It's nice, she thinks.

Being cared for in such a way, for once, even with her independant ways.

Looking at the bright light in front of her, Valeria is confused.

Turning towards her companions, she tilts her head in confusion.

'Are they kicking me out?'

She won't admit to it, nor show it outwardly,  but she's hurt by it.

They stand firmly behind her, with expectant eyes.

"Do you know someone out there, someone you want me to meet?...Your creator perhaps?" Valeria asks in an imploring manner, they nod in affirmation.

Confused by it all, but trusting them nonetheless.  Which, again, might be strange for some.

Valeria then lets out a deep sigh, all the while looking every one of them in the eye for one last time, sorrowful that she has to leave them…for now that is, she'll definitely try to visit when she can.

They can't get rid of her so easily!

She hasn't even gotten to think of nicknames for them, for Morgana's sake!

Shaking her head, she then asks them if she'll know who the person is when she meets them.

They all nod simultaneously, huffing she then agrees to their demands.

And turns around to the light, to humans.

Yes, she doesn’t like socialising much, sue her.

The guards at the entrance of the Fold are bewildered at the sight in front of them.

Coming out of the Fold, was a little girl.

She seems to have lost her memories, and doesn't know how she's gotten in this situation.

Looking at one another, they can't do anything about the girl, but send her to the orphanage, seeing as she doesn't remember a thing except her name.

Valeria Cherniak (Black).

In a small village called 'Keramzin', in the South of Ravka, there is an orphanage.

The matron of the orphanage frowns at the child in front of her doors.

'Another mouth to feed.'  She thinks in disdain.

The girl, Valeria , looks angelic, the Matron admits. With her enchanting green eyes, prettily curled raven hair that envelops her face and polite countenance.

'Pretty things get broken here' , she thinks snidely.

Leading the girl inside, she pairs her off with the Shu girl.

At ten years old, Alina finally has a roommate.

Although very sudden, she can't help but be enchanted by the new girl.

Valeria.

The girl seems to be the same age as her, and isn't fazed by her Shu looks, she isn't like the rest of them .

Those that shun her for it, even though she is as much of a Ravkan as any other child here.

Well, back to the matter at hand, her roommate.

She's very pretty, Alina thinks, and also polite!

After wishing each other goodnight,  Alina smiles into her pillow and can't wait for what awaits her in the future.

She hopes they'll be good friends, she never had a girl friend before.

Only Mal.

She hopes they'll all be good friends and finally closes her eyes.

Valeria Charniak, is a strange girl, the matron concludes.

Although she is very polite and well mannered for her age, the girl is strange .

The way she speaks is as though she’s much older than her physical age, and she also sounds like one of those nobles.

All proper.

The girl seems to be very talented in many areas as well, which should feel as a blessing to the Matron.

But in actuality,  the child unnerves her.

Those eyes of hers…they are the worst of it all, all knowing and oh so very foreboding.

She fears she might have brought a demon under her roof.

A charming demon that can't do any no-good. Not with the way the children, caregivers and teachers are fawning over the girl.

She also seems to be friends with the Shu girl and the boy, especially after the whole spectacle with one of their bullies. Who mysteriously stopped bullying the two children after having met the newest member of the orphanage.  The boy seems to be avoiding the trio, especially the girl , he fears her.

She had once seen the boy leak in his pants, his eyes widened in terror, when he suddenly made eye contact with Valeria, the girl only gave him a bright smile.

'Yes', the matron thinks 'The child is the devil incarnate.'

But she can't do a thing about it, she only hopes the time will soon come when  she can kick them out of her doors.

The sooner, the better.
