Everyone says he looks like his father. With the hair, the eyes, etcetera. But he went away, and he was left to grow up on his own. To learn, to think, to age, to develop, to discover.

Then, there's his mother's side, and from that side of the family he got kindness, empathy, fierceness, and the ability to be mendacious. Most things he kept bottled up, and not even his closest friends knew. Especially, one thing that would break his family and friends if they found out.

"You're just like your father."

"I knew your father."

"Your mother was special."

"You're as good looking as your mother."

"Perfect blend of your parents."

"Your mother was good at Charms. Your father much preferred DA."

Truly, he is his parent's child. From the sarcasm, brashness, opinionated personality, to the skin, the eyes, the facial structure. But all he's ever wanted was to be his own person. To be loved, to be put first, to have this relationship where you just know they'll never leave because he loves you. He can't forget nor forgive, because now he's scared that everyone that loves him will leave.

And so he tried to be the opposite, but no matter what he did he was always, always, compared with his parents.

Early childhood on through teenage development, it's hard to put into words how family days always hurt. Like the twisting of an already painful stab. A pain that has always been there, that you learn to deal with, and it being set to max level when he sees all those happy children with their parents. "Mommy! Daddy! Look what I made you!" Kids would enthusiastically tell their parents, who would beam in return with genuine love and interest. The boy always wondered what that felt like.

Growing older, he was a kid still. Young, supposedly joyful and blissfully ignorant. But that never meant clueless. He knew his family was different from the rest, but never really knew what to do about it. Knew what was a lie and what wasn't, and knew when he should lie and when it was okay to relax.

So, one day, these two boys with similar stories saw each other past their family lines and really looked. Looked at the rare grey eyes, and the brightest green iris'; at the silver hair and the messy bush; and his fair skin with his tanned. They fell in love with each other, despite their Family Lines.
