Daughters of a Raven and a Rose
Raven and Summer fell in love and got together in this AU after Beacon. Things were good between them for a time, and Tai donated his sperm so that they could have a kid because dust triggered cell fusion wasn’t successful enough for them to consider it. Yang is born and they continue with their lives. Then, through a leap in tech, dust triggered cell fusion becomes much more stable, so they use it for them to have a child, Summer being the one who’s carrying. However couple months before Ruby was born Raven goes on a spy mission and sees Salem for the first time. She sees how she was unkillable and how she could control Grimm. Salem was going after the Spring Maiden at the time. Raven causes a distraction and gets to the spring maiden, but then one of Salem’s acolytes mortally wounds her. They get out of sight, and spring dies, making Raven the new maiden. She panics and goes into hiding knowing that Salem will come for her and that she can’t risk going back or Salem might discover them and kill Yang and Summer, who is already at risk because of her silver eyes and Raven knows people like that are hunted by someone. She pieces it together and decides it is safer if she just stays away.
about later however she feels her bond with Summer fading and creates a quiet portal to her using her bird form to travel. To her horror, Summer is gravely injured at the hands of Salem and her grimm. Raven changes back, and the two begin working together, Raven fully using her maiden powers. However they are quickly getting overwhelmed. They eventually hide behind an outcropping of rocks while Salem and her grimm horde prepare to wipe them out. They know Salem won’t stop until they are both dead, and that’s when Summer comes up with a plan. They dump out all the dust they have, then Raven uses her maiden powers to set it off in a massive explosion, teleporting them away to Yang at the same time. Everyone is shocked by this, but the focus on saving Summer before asking any questions. Once Summer is stable, Raven explains that she is the spring maiden and why she disappeared to her as well as Tai and Qrow. They are still upset with her, but they understand that she was just trying to protect them in her own way. Summer contacts Ozpin, and tells her to use his connections to hide any mention of Ruby and Yang, and she and Raven decide to remain hidden at their house on Patch while letting the rest of the world believe they are dead.
Afterwards Raven reveals herself to Yang and Ruby, explaining that she is their mother. They are shocked and confused, and Yang asks why she wasn’t there with them. Raven tells her that a very bad person was hunting her and that she had to leave or they would hurt them. The kids are confused, but they slowly begin to accept Raven and bond with her. Once Summer has recovered she joins them and the two start raising Yang and Ruby together.
After a year Summer will bring up having another kid with Raven, as she missed out on raising Yang and Ruby because of what happened with Salem. Raven is hesitant at first, but she eventually agrees and the have another kid using the dust triggered cell fusion, Raven carrying. They have a third daughter, Sapphire Rose-Branwen, who has silver eyes and black hair and looks like a perfect blend between Summer and Raven.
Yang and Ruby are much more competent in this AU because both Summer and Raven know they have to be in order to survive Salem gunning for them. Yang still uses Ember Celica as her main weapon, but they’ve been modified to have extendable blades in them and she’s less prone to rash action as Raven drilled into her head the dangers of it. Ruby still uses crescent rose, and while she’s still shy and nervous around new people, she also won’t let them talk down to her.
Summer’s weapon is Silver Thorn, a sniper halberd. Her semblance is Rose Vanish, a short range teleport where she disappears in a puff of white rose petals and reappears a short distance away in another puff of petals.
Sapphire’s Semblance is Aura Bond. She can create a bond with people, allowing them to share aura between them and use each other’s skills, knowledge, and semblance, though she can only activate one bond at a time. They can also communicate telepathically. She has one with Ruby, Summer, Yang, Raven, Tai, and Qrow. Sapphire is homeschooled, as her parents don’t want to risk word of her getting out. She is training with Raven to use Daishō dust enhanced blades. She hasn’t created her weapons yet.
