Chapter 5
Ollivander moved around his shop getting everything fixed up. He was still moving slow, but it felt good to be back in his home.
Voldemort's people had really made a mess of things when they took him, but everything was at least still salvageable. Except for the wands. They had to be replaced. He had a lot of work to do before he could even think about opening again.
Just then the door opened and Harry stepped in, followed by Ben and Rey. Ollivander smiled as he limped to greet them. "Good to see you three."
"We thought you could use some help but also, was wondering if you could get Ben and Rey wands" Harry said.
"I would love some help, but the wands may take some time" he replied. "They've all been destroyed."
"Well Dumbledore told me I could use this one more time before it went back to where Voldemort got it from" Harry said with a grin. "May I?"
Ollivanders eyes lit up as he nodded. "Go ahead."
He then moved back to stand next to Ben and Rey as Harry got to work. In the blink of an eye, the shop was back to the way it used to be and the wands all repaired and in their rightful place.
"Thank you my boy. Now, you said something about wands?"
Harry chuckled. "Yes. Ben and Rey need some. Can you help them?"
"Absolutely. Ben. Come with me."
As Ollivander measured Ben's arm he started climbing the ladder and pulling boxes down as Rey and Harry watched. "I will be right back" Harry whispered. "I need to return this."
Rey nodded as she continued to watch.
Harry walked to Dumbledores grave and took a deep breath. He moved the cracked stone and repaired it then snapped the elder wand in half. "I know this probably wasn't what you expected, but if anyone finds out they could always come and steal it again. We don't need that." He then placed the two pieces inside the tomb and pulled out his own wand that he had repaired. He took one last look at the professor who had been there for him one last time before moving the stone back over to rest on the grave.
He then turned and apparated back to Diagon Alley.
Ben was looking at his new wand when Harry walked in. Ollivander was handing wand after wand to Rey to try out.
"So how does it feel?" Harry asked.
"A little strange but I like it" Ben said.
"What's it made out of?"
"Dragon heartstring and the core is from a acramentula."
Harry's eyes widened. "Wow. How did Ollivander get an acramentula?"
"Wasn't easy" Ollivander replied. "Now Rey, this one is phoenix hair and the core is a dragon heartstring. Try this."
Once the wand was in Rey's hand it lit right up causing Rey to almost fall over. Harry grinned. "Both powerful wands."
"Indeed" Ollivander agreed. "May they serve you well."
"Well let's get going" Ben said. "Kingsley wanted us at the ministry as soon as we got our wands."
Kingsley was sitting behind the desk in the ministers office going through some paperwork when Harry walked in followed by Ben and Rey. "Got your wands I see " Kingsley said. "Well, first things first. You need to learn how to use them. Harry will teach you. He's the best one other than Hermione. While you're learning, you will both train for the Aurors. With all that you know, you will do well. Gawain Robards, the head, will get you both squared away. Also, Harry, I would like to speak to you privately. Ben. Rey. Robards is waiting for you. Tonks will show you were to go."
Tonks was waiting outside the office for them and she smiled when they came out. "Robards is excited to meet you both, but I will warn you, he is really strict."
"We're used to that" Rey said.
"True" Ben added. "My uncle was a piece of cake compared to Snoke."
"And Unkar was worse than Luke" Rey added.
Tonks laughed. She hadn't spent much time with them, but she had heard some of their background. "At least you are no stranger to strictness. He reminds me a lot of my mom."
"How so?" Rey asked.
Tonks laughed. "It was not long after I had finished my auror training. I decided I was going to do this one case by myself. This was when Rufus Scrimgeour was still head. So late one night I decided to just leave. I thought I could handle it. After I got out of Mungo's, trust me when I say this, Robard made my mom look like a flea. Makes sense really, seeing how Moody trained him and all, but I never did that again."
Just then Robard came out and saw Tonks with his new recruits. He nodded and motioned for them to follow. "Solo, you will be partnered with James Potter. Rey, don't you have a last name?" He asked.
Rey froze and looked at Ben. "It's ok, Rey" Ben said. "No one here knows about him."
"It's Palpatine, but I would prefer just going by Rey" she said.
Robard nodded. "That's fine with me. You remind me a lot of my own little girl. Your partner will be Tonks. Trust me when I say this, you will probably be the one needing the help more often than not."
Tonks rolled her eyes. "I'm not that bad."
"No, but you are accident prone. Poor Rey here will probably be in mungo's more than anyone else."
Tonks growled causing Robard to laugh. "I'm just teasing. Hopefully. So we are a little tight on office space, so you will be sharing an office with your partners. Tonks, make sure you take Rey to the fitters to get the robes she needs. James will take you, Solo. Now. Before you begin your training, we have decided that you will attend Hogwarts for one year to learn everything you can. McGonagall will owl you your letters in a day or two. Or whenever the school gets repaired. So until then you will be going through manuals and learning basic things with your partners."
With that Robards left and James motioned for Tonks, Ben and Rey to follow. Once in the office, James closed the door. "Tonks and I have agreed that we will show you the ropes together. After the battle of Hogwarts, I realized that you two fight well together. So hopefully you can learn together as well. It's not easy being an auror, but it's also very rewarding." He smiled as Harry walked in. "My son has decided to also become an auror, but has chosen to finish his last year at Hogwarts. He will be the one training you there. McGonagall already gave the ok for that. Hermione Granger will also have a hand in the training as will Bill Weasley and Charlie Weasley. Fred and George wanted to, but outside of tricks and jokes, I'm not sure that would be best. But then again, they do come in handy in a tight situation. Anyways, let's get you both squared away on the attire then we will begin. Any questions?"
"Just one" Rey said. "Couldn't we just learn everything from you and Tonks without going to Hogwarts?"
"You could" Tonks said. "But McGonagall and Horace Slughorn wanted you both there for a reason. Slughorn teaches potions and he is top notch if I say so myself. He will tell you how to spot the deadliest potions and how to get rid of them. McGonagall is the transfiguration professor. She will help you both to be able to transfigure yourselves if you ever need to. You may not have to take all the classes, but Potions and transfiguration is required."
"Will be nice to go to a school where your own uncle doesn't teach" Ben said.
Rey nodded. "And hopefully there won't be one who will slap your hand with a twig."
"Snape might" James said. "But don't worry about that now. Come on. Let's get going."
