Gelly the Jellyfish

Gelly the Jellyfish

„Albus, you stupid idiot!“, he sprinted towards the shore of the small lake behind Godrics Hollow. Albus Dumbledore was kneeling by the water, his breath ragged.

“What did you do, Albus?!”, he reached for him and turned Albus’ head to look at him.

“It was just some water, Gellert.”, Albus lulled, his eyes half closed.

“Just water!”, he exclaimed, “you, my friend, are the Master of Understatement.”

Gellert grabbed Albus and steadied him.

“Elemental magic is not a toy! We agreed to do this together!”, he raged as they were slowly making their way back to the main street of the village. That is, the only street.

“You could have caused a storm-flood, a hurricane or even worse things. Godrics Hollow could have become the new Atlantis!”

Albus struggled to keep standing upright and only said, grinning, “I managed a small hurricane.”

Gellert stopped them and looked at him critically.

“You are high.”

Albus giggled, “Really?”

“You moron, Albus! Your brother will kill us!”

“Nah.”, he slurred, “he’ll understand.”

“Your decision making is obviously influenced, Albus.”

“That proves our theory then.”

“I did not intend to prove it like that, Albus. The high magical density could have killed you!”

They silently made their way to the Dumbledores small house. Breathing heavily, Gellert managed to get Albus through the front door without them falling all over themselves.

“What have you done to him?!”, demanded Aberforth, glaring accusingly at Gellert. He quickly drew his wand and pointed it right at Gellerts face.

“He’s high on magic.”, Gellert said resigned.

“How did that happen?”, Aberforth snarled.

“You don’t really want to know. He should just sleep it off.”

With those words he began pulling Albus upstairs and into his room. When they sat on the small bed together, he said, “Say, Gelly?”

“Please, do not call me that.”

“Are you a Jellyfish?”

“What?”, he gaped at Albus.

“Your animagus form.”

“I am shit at transfiguration, Albus. I do not have an animagus form.”

Albus’ face slowly morphed into worry.

“You’re going to die!”

“No, I assure you, we are perfectly safe.”

“You could turn into a Jellyfish anytime! They don’t survive on land! We’ve got to go back to the lake!”

“I am not a Jellyfish.”, Gellert said annoyed.

“Not yet, Gellert!”, Albus started to climb out of his bed, slightly hysteric.

Thinking quickly, Gellert proposed, “We could go to the bathroom and if this happens against my expectations, you simply put me in the bathtub.”

“…mh, okay.”, Albus relented.

Sighing, Gellert halfway carried Albus to the bathroom down the hallway.

“You’ve to sit in the tub, Gelly. I don’t have a shovel.”

“Whatever for would you need a shovel?”

“To put you into the tub when you’re a Jellyfish.”

“Fine. I will sit in the tub.”

So Gellert reluctantly climbed into the tub while Albus sat on the ground in front of it.

“Do you think you are venomous?”

“Possibly.”

“Or maybe you can electroduce your prey.”

“Sounds cool.”

“Can you turn your arm into a tentacle?”

Gellert blinked, “No.”

“But that would be cool.”

“No.”

“Imagine you are a Jellyfish with tentacles ten meters long that can shock or poison people.”

“I always thought your brother was the more vicious and murderous one of the two of you.”

“That would be so cool.”

Gellert sighed again.

“What color do you think you will have?”

“I am not a Jellyfish.”

“Maybe pink.”

“No.”

“The more colorful the animal the more dangerous it is!”

“Maybe red.”

“There are no red Jellyfish, silly.”

“What a pity.”

“Oh no!”

“What now, Albus?”

“Your hair’s white! What if you’re transparent?!”

“So what?”

“I won’t be able to see you to turn you back!”

“I am sure I will be fine.”

“We’ve to color your hair!”

“No.”

“I can’t let you remain a brainless animal!”

“Thank you so much, Albus.”

“Jellyfish don’t have a brain, Gelly, they just wobble through the ocean.”

“They drift.”

“We need salt.”

Gellert waved his wand and summoned the salt from the kitchen.

“Good.”, Albus emptied the whole box into the tub.

“Now your hair.”, he insisted.

“No.”

“I won’t lose you like that!”, he waved his wand and Gellerts hair turned a bright pink. For good measure, he decided to color his arms as well.

“Stop that!”, he snatched Albus’ wand from his hand.

“Now I’ll be able to see you.”

“Fine.”

“Can you try not to sting me?”

“Maybe”, he said darkly.

“That’s nice. Can I have your legs?”

“No, I would prefer for them to remain attached to the rest of me!”

“Thanks. They make a fine pillow.”, he climbed into the small tub.

Relieved, Gellert exhaled and slung an arm around his back. Then he let his head rest on the edge of the tub.

“You make a shitty pillow.”

“Why?”

“You have a hard exterior, but a soft Jellyfish inside. The opposite would be better.”

“I am not a Jellyfish.”

“You are like a snail or an egg.”

“Sure.”

“I’ll be careful not to break your hard shell. You need it to protect you.”, Albus let his head rest on Gellerts shoulder.

“Ah.”

“Most snails die when their shells are shattered.”

“Lucky then, that you are a softie.”

“Mh. I’ll make a good pillow then.”, Albus smiled and crept even closer to Gellert.

“Like a golem.”, Gellert joked.

“Mh.”

And finally, Albus drifted off to sleep.

“Gellert, why are we in the bathtub?”, Albus moaned confused.

“You were quite insistent.”

“You are having me on, aren’t you?”, he asked unsure.

“Since you were high on magic and feared I might turn into a Jellyfish, no, I am afraid, I am not.”

“Well, you would make a fine Gelly-fish”, Albus smirked.

“Please, don’t.”, Gellert groaned.

“Your hair looks”, he searched for the right words, “pretty.”
