Inadequate

Secret Keeper

Grey eyes take in the scene in front of him, lush lips curl into a smirk and then Sirius Black bows to Lord Potter and Miss Evans.

He doesn't know exactly what he just interrupted and he really doesn't need to. All he knows is that his friend Lord Potter has been in a foul mood for weeks, and this will surely put an end to his wallowing.

"James, I expect to be your best man. And Miss Evans, once you've found yourself in the Pudding club, I’m the one you want for a Godfather. Don’t even think about asking that inadequate excuse for a man your sister married.”

With a flourish he closes the door behind him, and ambles off, whistling between his teeth.

He considers keeping what he just saw to himself, and let Remus think he lost their bet, but nah, it’s more fun to tell him what he just witnessed, even if it will cost him a few crowns.

He hears shouting and fighting, the sounds of a brawl, most likely all its participants ape-drunk, come from below. It's loud enough to drown out the musicians who are still playing in the ballroom.

Sirius Black frowns, halts and leans against the wall, arms crossed. He has no interest in a drunken mill, and it wouldn't do for any of these jug-bitten idiots to stumble their way up the stairs and cut up his friend's and his lady's peace.

Sirius Black is of the opinion that they deserve their face-making to be private, so he's determined that no one will disturb them, not on on his watch.
