The light from the small candle burning inside a carved pumpkin caused strange shapes of light and shadows to follow him as he walked to the street.
Peter looked back and raised his hand in answer to Lily's wave from where she stood in the doorway.
She said she wasn't superstitious, but ever since they'd been forced into hiding she had her own ritual.
She hugged and then watched her friends leave until she could no longer see them. Just in case this time would be the last.
