Summary
“Okay.” He whispered, getting up and shaking the blanket off from his shoulders. He shivered immediately as he was standing up, suddenly feeling really dizzy. “Rem?” He whispered.“What. Woah, baby.” He said as Sirius stumbled forward, but luckily Remus caught him. “Dizzy?” Sirius nodded, looking hazily up at Remus.OrSirius black catches a flu and Remus is there to help him

It was Friday night after dinner and Remus was in the library working on some homework, James and Sirius had quidditch practice and Peter went to watch it.

Well, James was in quidditch practice, Sirius was in their dorm buried under blankets. He was sick, but being Sirius black, of course he didn't want to admit it. His head was throbbing, and he was cold. He wanted to sleep, but the headache wouldn't let him.

James has figured out that Sirius was sick and made him skip today's practice. Remus was the one Sirius didn't want to know that he's sick. Foremost he knew that Remus would get worried for no reason, second he didn't want to be sick.

After a while of just laying under the covers and blowing his nose from time to time, he heard the door cracking open.

"Siri? What are you doing here." Remus asked, surprised as their quidditch practice was still going on. He walked closer to Sirius, whose nose and cheeks were red.

"I'm sick." Sirius whispered. Remus crouched down next to the bed he was laying and brushed some hair out of Sirius' face.

"Well, how are you feeling?" He asked, looking worried, as Sirius never really was sick, it was usually the other way around.

"My head hurts like hell and my nose is runny and stuffy, and I'm cold." Sirius explained.

"Baby, Why didn't you tell me you weren't feeling well?" Remus asked.

"I didn't want you to get worried like you always do. Even when there's no reason to." Sirius coughed.

"It's only because you are never sick. Anyway, you have to rest."

"I tried."

"Scoot over." Remus said getting up from the floor.

"But you'll get sick."

"It doesn't matter, let me take care of you." Remus smiled, sitting next to Sirius, his head leaning on the headboard.

Sirius curled up to his boyfriend's side, laying his head on Remus' chest. Remus wrapped an arm around Sirius and gently rubbed his side, with the other he pulled the covers better on Sirius.

"Thief." Remus whispered, barely audible.

"What?" Sirius asked.

"You stole my jumper." He chuckled.

"Well, it's warm and comfy." Sirius blushed, but it wasn't noticed by Remus as his cheeks were already tinted.

"It's ok padfoot. Now get some rest, will you."?

"Okay, moony." Sirius smiled. Being in the arms of Remus helped him sleep somehow, it always did.

Remus kept rubbing his side until Sirius fell asleep, and even after that. He was lost in his thoughts and didn't even notice when James and Peter entered the dorm.

After a while Sirius shifted in his sleep, shot his eyes open and quickly sat up on the edge of the bed. Remus was pulled out of his train of thought, and he turned his attention to Sirius.

"Everything alright, angel?" He asked, but Sirius did not answer. "Was it a nightmare?" And Sirius shook his head, taking noticeably deeper breaths.

Remus shared a worried look with James and Peter, who both were laying on their beds, slowly sitting up.

"Padfoot?" James called. "What's wrong."

Sirius could not answer, if he would speak he would probably throw up. His head was throbbing more than before, he was feeling nauseous and felt like the whole room was spinning.

He got off the bed and sprinted to the bathroom, Remus got off behind him and crouched down next to him. Remus gathered his hair and held them, rubbing the small of his back as Sirius started gagging. He hated throwing up, and tears started to burn in the corners of his eyes.

"It's ok angel, you are ok, just let it out, and you'll feel a lot better, I promise, okay" Remus said softly.

Sirius threw up a couple of times before, leaning down into remus' embrace. Tears were rolling down his cheeks, his eyes looked tired, Remus took some paper and wiped it over Sirius lips.

"Thank you." Sirius whispered, looking at his boyfriend, who had a concerned look on his face.

"Feeling any better." He asked. And Sirius nodded his head slightly. "Are you gonna throw up again?"

"Probably not." He whispered.

"Do you wanna go back to bed?" And Sirius nodded. Remus helped him up from the floor.

"Mhm" Sirius muttered. He was shivering, and his head was hurting more.

Remus smiled. Sirius fell back to his bed and pulled the covers over him. He was shivering lightly, Remus put the lights off to ease Sirius' headache.

"Do you want something to drink?" Remus asked, looking worriedly.

"No, I'll just throw up again." Sirius whined.

"Or it'll make you feel better." Remus said. He crouched down next to the bed. He pressed the back of his hand gently on Sirius' forehead.

"You're burning up, baby" A frown formed on Sirius' lips. He hated being sick.

"How about we'll get you some tea and medicine from madam Pomfrey and maybe something to eat?" Remus asked.

"No."

"You know that you don't have a choice."

"I know."

"You don't have to eat or drink if you don't feel like you can, but that medicine you're gonna take, besides, I want tea." Remus smiled, getting up from the floor.

"Okay, moony." Sirius whispered. Remus got up from the floor.

"James, Pete, can you two go down to the kitchens?"

"Yeah of course." James said, getting up from his bed, followed by peter. They left the dorm and Remus followed.

"I'll be right back, baby." Remus smiled.

Remus made his way down to the infirmary. It wasn't late yet, so madam Pomfrey wouldn't be sleeping. He was just hoping that it wasn't too busy there.

He opened the door and didn't see her anywhere, so he knocked on her office door, and she quickly opened it.

"Hey, Mr lupin." She greeted fondly. "How can I help?"

"Sirius is sick, is there anything that would help?"

"What is he having and how's he feeling?"

"His head hurts, he has a stuffy nose, and he is burning up. Oh, yeah, and he threw up a couple of times."

"Some pepperup potion will do and some rest of course and remember to keep him hydrated." She smiled, turned around and gave me a small bottle of the potion.

"Thank you, madam Pomfrey." Remus smiled. He made his way back to the Gryffindor tower. When he got into their dorm, he figured that James and Peter were still at the kitchens, as they weren't there.

"Hey." Remus whispered softly into the room. He walked up to the bed Sirius was laying. "How are you feeling?"

"My head is throbbing, I'm cold and tired."

"Oh my poor baby, move over, will you?" Sirius scooted over, so Remus could sit down. He sat down, resting his head on the headboard.

"Here." Remus said, giving the small bottle to Sirius.

"What is it?"

"Pepperup potion."

"No. It tastes awful."

"I know, I know. But you'll have to take it, just a couple of sips, okay? You think you can do that for me?"

"Okay moony." He slowly sat up more, so he could take his medicine. Sirius brought the small bottle up to his lips and took two small sips of it. He almost gagged as he took it. Safe to say that Sirius hated taking medicine. He put the bottle on his night stand. He laid back down, pulling the covers over his head.

"I hate you." He whispered.

"No you don't."

"You're right." Sirius muttered, there were still tears going down his cheeks and he was feeling miserable. He really just wanted to feel better.

"Moony?" Sirius whispered from underneath the blankets, trying to wipe his tears away.

"Yeah, what is it, angel?" He asked softly, but still, a worry lacing over his voice. He knew that Sirius got emotional when sick, but his voice sounded so fragile and quiet.

"I'm cold."

"I know, I'll get you another blanket, yeah? And we can cuddle later if you'd like."

Remus felt Sirius nodding under the blanket. Before Remus could get up and go get Sirius another blanket, James and Peter came back, handing Remus a cup of tea and a bottle of water. "I brought him some toast if he would eat." James said.

"I'm not gonna eat." Sirius declared from underneath the blanket. "But give me some water. I want to wash off this taste."

Remus pulled Sirius' blanket down just enough to see his face, only to see his tear stained and slightly tinted cheeks, and still teary eyes. "James, toss me a blanket, will you?" Remus asked, and James gave him one from the empty bed in the room.

Sirius sipped on his water, Remus tucked him under blankets, to keep him warm. "Hey, don't hide from me." Remus said softly, closing the curtains on the other side of the bed.

"wanna cuddle?" Remus asked.

"Mhm." He mumbled.

Sirius shifted, so he was almost laying on top of his boyfriend. Head resting on his chest, listening to his steady breathing and heartbeat. Remus' arms wrapped around Sirius, rubbing his side and back.

"Go to sleep, baby, you need to rest. You'll feel better tomorrow, okay."

"You can't promise that." He mumbled, half asleep.

"I know, but I want you to feel better." He said, and Sirius chuckled tiredly. Remus lifted Sirius' chin up and pressed his hand up to his forehead. "Baby, you are far too warm, if your fever isn't lower tomorrow, we'll have to go to the hospital wing."

"No," he said, his eyes filling with tears.

"Hey, don't cry angel, okay? It's fine, it's ok everything is fine." He said, brushing hair out of Sirius face and caressing his thumb over his cheek. "Just go to sleep, huh?"

"Okay, moony." He said, resting his head back on his chest, closing his eyes. "Goodnight, rem, love you." He slowly muttered, falling asleep.

"Goodnight angel, I love you too."

Sirius dozed off quickly, Remus looked down at the sleepy boy in his arms as his breathing evened out. Remus was worried because he could feel the heat radiate off the boy and usually when Sirius was sick his nightmares got worse, he had dealt with them before, but it always broke his heart to see the boy so scared.

After a while Remus, carefully, slipped out of bed and changed into his pj's. Both James and Peter had both fallen asleep. He crawled back to his bed, trying not to wake Sirius up, but of course, he opened his eyes and looked at him. “Moony.” He mumbled.

“Shh, baby, just go back to sleep, okay?” Remus whispered, petting his sweaty, tangled curls. Sirius closed his eyes and snuggled closer to Remus as he laid back down to the bed. Remus wrapped his arms around the boy. After Sirius had surely fallen back to sleep, Remus let himself fall asleep.

Remus was woken up by Sirius, who was constantly moving and shifting in his sleep. Remus looked at him, with concern, before gently shaking him, so he would wake up. He looked at the clock: 3.30 in the morning. Sirius, opened his eyes and sat up, looking around the room, his eyes trying to find Remus, so he could focus on something.

“Sirius.” He whispered softly as he saw that the boy started to panic, he sat up, resting his back to the headboard. “Shh baby, calm down, yeah? Everything is alright, everything is good.”

“I-i don't feel good.” Sirius panted.

“Calm down, you're just working yourself up, okay? Calm down and you'll feel better.” He said, rubbing Sirius' back.

“Moony.” Sirius cried.

“Are you gonna be sick?” Remus asked, and Sirius nodded, swallowing thickly. Remus quickly shot up from bed and grabbed a bin from underneath his desk and quickly held it up under Sirius' chin.

Remus kneeled next to bed and next to Sirius, still holding up the bin underneath his chin. With his other hand he continued to rub Sirius' back, trying to calm him down.

“Shh, shh it's okay, let's wipe those away, huh?” He said, wiping the tears away underneath his eyes.

“I-i don't l-like i-it.” Sirius said as he started gagging.

“Oh, I know, I know, you don't.” He said, caressing a finger over Sirius' cheek. Only thing he could bring up was just the water he drank earlier.

“Feeling better?” He shook his head and tears started to collect in his eyes again. “I know you feel bad and like you're gonna be sick, I know. But I really need you not to work yourself up, okay? Can you do that, Angel?”

Sirius tried to calm down, he really tried, but he felt so horrible, and his head throbbed more than before, he felt really hot, but he was freezing cold at the same time. Everything felt kind of distant, and he wasn't really sure what was going on.

“Good, so good.” Remus praised as Sirius' breathing got less heavy and his tears started to slow down. “Anything gonna come up any more?”

After a moment, he shook his head and Remus lifted the bin next to the bed. “I'm gonna leave it here if you get sick again, okay?”

Remus climbed back in bed, and Sirius snuggled back close to Remus and rested his head on remus' chest. Remus pulled both of the blankets on top of the shivering boy, he wasn't sure if it was because he was cold or if his body was just so exhausted from all the sickness.

“Before you doze off, can you tell me where it hurts, baby?” He asked, petting Sirius' hair, trying to card through them. After a moment, Sirius finally answered.

"M'head, and stomach.” He whispered, new tears collecting in his eyes. “And throat.”

“Oh, poor baby.” Remus said, kissing his too hot forehead. “Let's tie your hair back, okay?” He asked and Sirius lifted his other hand, where he kept his hair ties and Remus slipped one of them off and Sirius hand fell back where it was, too tired to hold it up any more.

Remus gathered all his hair on to the top of his head and tied it into a quick and messy bun.

“I can braid your hair tomorrow if you'd like?” Sirius nodded against his chest, closing his eyes and sniffing. “But we have to go to the hospital wing, tomorrow.”

“No.” He whispered, a tear slipping from his eye, Remus wiped it off, before he started talking.

“I know you don't like going there, but you're sick, and she knows how to help you the best, okay?” Sirius started to cry, he knew he had to go, and it would probably make him feel better. But he still didn't want to go. He never liked hospitals, if he was the one taken care of.

“Shh, shh, Angel. I know you don't like it, I know. I just want you to feel better, okay, I'm not taking you there to be mean or anything.” He soothed. “And I promise I'll be right next to you, I won't go anywhere, yeah?”

Remus heard some mumbling and Sirius nodding against his chest. “Let's go back to sleep, okay? I'll wake you up in the morning.” Sirius nodded again.

It took some time before Sirius fell back to sleep, he was somewhat restless and Remus couldn't fall asleep himself, he was just too worried. Sirius didn't wake up again, but he kept kicking his blanket away and pulled it back a minute later.

~~

The next morning, Remus got up, trying not to wake Sirius up. He changed his clothes into a jumper and some trousers. He woke up James and Peter because they never wake up on their own. Remus sat at the table as Peter and James got ready.

“How's he doing?” James asked, trying to find his glasses.

“Still sick, worse than last night.” Remus said. “He woke up during the night to throw up.” He said.

“Not good.” He sighed.

“Are you gonna take him to the hospital wing?” Peter asked.

“Mhm, he's not going to like it, though.” Remus said.

“We gotta go, before we're late from breakfast, we'll go by the kitchen and get something for you and Sirius, if he's up for it.” James said, heading out of the room.

He started to work on a potions essay as Sirius slept, he didn't dare to wake him up because he needed the sleep. He didn't get much done, though, he kept glancing at Sirius making sure he was still okay and not having a nightmare, it was easy to notice if he was having one. He would keep moving, but he was sleeping somewhat peacefully.

After an hour or two, Sirius woke up and sat up in bed. “Morning, rem.” He coughed, his voice strained.

“Morning, Angel.” Remus smiled, getting up from the chair and walking over to the bed and sat across from Sirius. “How are you feeling?”

“Bad.” Sirius whispered, leaning forward and resting his head on remus' shoulder.

“Oh, I'm sorry, baby.” Remus said, rubbing his back. “Does something hurt?” Sirius nodded, against his shoulder. “Baby, can you tell me what hurts?”

"M'head, and stomach, and my throat.”

“I'm so sorry.” He said, kissing the top of his head, still too hot. “Still nauseous?” He asked, and Sirius nodded again.

“Alright, baby. Do you remember what we talked about last night?” Remus asked, and Sirius lifted his head and looked at him with his red rimmed eyes and nodded.

“Mhm, yeah.” He sniffed. “I don't want to.” He said, tears, once again, burning in his eyes.

“I know, but going there will make you feel a lot better.”

“I know.” He whispered, ending with a sneeze.

“Bless you, after we come from there I can braid your hair, and we can cuddle, sound good?”

Sirius nodded. “C-could you braid it now?” He asked, looking at Remus, with the best puppy dog eyes he could do while feeling this bad, but his sick look probably gave more effect on it.

“How can I say no?” Remus chuckled. “Of course.” He said, kissing his forehead. Remus stood up and Sirius turned around so his back was facing Remus. He had the blanket wrapped around his shoulders as he kept coughing and sniffling.

Remus opened the messy bun he had done last night and found Sirius' hairbrush from somewhere on the night stand and started to brush through it. Remus tried to be gentle, but apologized every time Sirius said it hurts. It took some time, but when it finally was untangled, he made a French braid in the middle.

“All done, baby.” He said, wrapping his arms around Sirius' shoulders and kissing his cheek. “Let's go, okay? The faster you get your cuddles.”

“Okay.” He whispered, getting up and shaking the blanket off from his shoulders. He shivered immediately as he was standing up, suddenly feeling really dizzy. “Rem?” He whispered.

“What. Woah, baby.” He said as Sirius stumbled forward, but luckily Remus caught him. “Dizzy?” Sirius nodded, looking hazily up at Remus.

“Do you think you can walk?” Remus asked worriedly, Sirius shrugged, squeezing his eyes shut. “Okay, well, how about if I carry you? You can hop on my back?” He suggested and Sirius nodded as Remus turned around and crouched down a little, so Sirius could climb to his back. When he straightened up, Sirius' legs wrapped around his waist and arms loosely around his neck. He rested his head on remus' shoulder and closed his eyes as they started making his way down to the hospital wing.

When they finally got there, madam Pomfrey was with a patient and told Remus to sit Sirius down on one of the beds. He did and sat down on a chair that he pulled next to Sirius, who was starting to get anxious. He kept looking down and played with the end of his jumper.

Remus offered his hand for Sirius to take, and he did, interlocking their fingers. “It's okay, nothing to worry about.” Remus soothed. Sirius looked at him with watery eyes, he knew that Sirius was trying not to cry here because he hated when someone saw him cry.

Soon, madam Pomfrey came over to them and looked at Sirius. “Hey, Mr black, Mr lupin.” She greeted. “What brings you two here?” He asked, looking at Remus instead of Sirius, who she knew wouldn't answer.

“He's really sick, and the pepper up didn't work, so I decided to bring him here.” Remus explained.

“Okay, anything new from yesterday?”

“His fever is higher, he woke up last night to throw up again, he's a little dizzy, is that all angel?” Remus asked, looking at Sirius, who nodded, looking down at his lap.

“Okay, well, I'm going to take his temperature, and probably give him some potion that'll help, but let's start with the temperature.” She explained. Sirius coughed, looking at Remus. He didn't want to drink potions, he hated it even though it would make him feel better.

Sirius tried not to focus on what madam Pomfrey was doing, and he tried to block out the conversation between Remus and madam Pomfrey. He did everything he was asked to do, not that he wanted, but he knew better than not to listen. He didn't look at Remus until he saw madam Pomfrey walking away.

“You're doing good, not long any more, okay?” Remus whispered and Sirius nodded, looking back down to his lap. Remus hated seeing his boy so sick and miserable. He squeezed Sirius' hand reassuringly, trying to tell him it's okay, when madam Pomfrey walked back over to them.

“I think it's just the common flu, just a little rougher.” She said with a sad smile. “He seems to have caught a nasty cough, so here's some potion to ease that, and keep taking the pepper up and lots of fluids and sleep, he should be good as new in no time.” She said, handing Remus two small bottles, which he tucked into his pocket.

“Thank you.” Remus smiled as she left for her office. “Still dizzy?” He asked from Sirius, who was now looking up at him.

“Not as bad when i-” he caught himself with a cough. “When I'm sitting down.”

“Okay, can you walk?” Remus asked, Standing up from the chair, still not letting go of his hand.

“I think, yeah.” Sirius said, slowly sliding off the bed. They started walking up to the Gryffindor tower, and Remus didn't like how much of Sirius' weight he was carrying as the boy leaned into his side. When they finally got back to their dorm, Sirius sat down on the bed pulling the covers over himself.

“First you have to take your medicine, then cuddles and sleep, okay?”

“I guess.” Sirius mumbled.

“Look, I don't want to make you do anything you don't want to, but Sirius please, can you take your medicine?” Remus asked, taking the rest of the pepper up from his night stand and the cough potion from his pocket. He crouched down In front of Sirius, next to the bed.

Sirius thought about it for a moment before nodding slowly. “Okay, and there's water, so you can wash off the taste, okay?” Remus said, handing the bottle of pepper up to him. See Sirius took a little sip and coughed, handing the bottle back. Remus gave him the water bottle and the next bottle.

He took a bigger sip of the water and then looked disgustedly at the bottle then at Remus with pleading eyes, not wanting to take it. Remus gave him a reassuring look and put his hand on his thigh, gently rubbing it. He took a sip from it and gagged at the taste, setting the bottle down on the table and taking his water again.

“Good, you did so good.” Remus said, standing up and kissing his forehead. Sirius blushed at the praise and hid his face into his hands. “Don't hide that pretty face.” He chuckled. “I'm going to get you a cold wash cloth, and then we can cuddle, yeah?”

“Yeah.” Sirius smiled, tiredly. He laid back down to the bed and pulled the covers up better on top of him.

Remus came back and sat down to the bed, resting his back to the headboard. Sirius laid his head down on remus' lap and Remus pressed the damp flannel on his forehead. Sirius immediately relaxed at the coolness that hit his hot forehead. Remus' arms loosely wrapped around the boy, and rubbed his stomach gently.

“Moony?” Sirius mumbled.

“Yeah?”

“Can you read to me?”

“Of course I can, baby.” He smiled. “Let me get up, so I can get a book.” He chuckled, and Sirius recuntacly untangled himself from Remus.

Soon Remus came back with a book, and they settled in the same position as Remus started to read out loud. While he was reading, Peter and James came back and set the things they had brought down to the desk. After a while, Sirius fell asleep, but Remus kept reading out loud, even though Sirius didn't hear him any more.
