Chapter 10
Severus was in awe. As his eyes scanned the entrance hall, Avis continued to excitedly chatter beside him. He strode in time with their hurried footsteps, finally focusing on the imposing desk occupied by an imposing woman when their chatter came to an abrupt halt.
"Well Severus, this is the end of the line for me! If you have any more questions Lucinda here is the gal to ask! I'll see you around!"
Severus blinked as Avis pivoted and started back toward the entrance gates before he could get a word in.
"Bye...?"
Severus blinked once again before turning to the woman who had been watching the exchange with a blank stare. He gave an awkward grimace smile combo to the woman, who continued to stare blankly.
"Hello... My name is Severus Snape and I am here for enrollment. I have previously faxed over the required documents stated in Ilvermorny's student guidebook, but it took me a while to get my OWL's back."
The woman grunted an affirmative noise before turning to her computer and beginning to type at a dizzying speed. After a couple of seconds, she turned back to him with her hand outstretched. Severus put the paper in her palm. She scanned the paper, looking between what he guessed was his initial application and his OWL's report. Finally, she handed him the paper back and spoke in a warm comforting tone.
"Your application is now complete and you have been accepted into Ilvermorny. Because of the OWL form your application process has been slightly longer than most however it is nothing that can't be fixed in a day or so. Minding that, tomorrow instead of orientation you will spend the first half of your day in the infirmary receiving a medical and mental checkup followed by an hour break for lunch then you will spend the following half of the day going over and testing on the required material for the advanced 6th-year classes."
She pushed over a piece of paper with a schedule newly written on it in elegant handwriting.
"I have just provided you with a paper that details your schedule for the following days. All students will arrive at the Ilvermorny campus in precisely 48 hours at 12 pm on Wednesday, September 3rd and the academic term will officially begin 10 hours after that, however classes will begin at 9am and span to 4:30pm with an hour for lunch slotted in the middle, starting precisely at 12:15 pm "
Severus nodded along with the woman's words, hearing what she was saying and storing it for processing later.
"Now, you will get your full academic schedule after your examinations tomorrow, and you will officially be added to your professor's roster and be eligible to be sorted at the sorting ceremony at the welcoming feast on Wednesday."
Severus nodded and picked up the schedule eyes taking in all that he had missed.
"With that sorted the only problem should be housing. You will, obviously, live in your house when you get sorted but for the time being, you will stay in the infirmary. The guest room has been cleared and is open to you at your convenience. I recommend dropping your trunk off and introducing yourself to the Head Matron before you continue with the free time you have today. To find the infirmary just tap your wand on the map at the bottom of your schedule and arrows will point you there. Once for activation and twice for deactivation. Now off you pop."
Severus thanked the fast-talking woman then looked around for a bench to process the information that he had just received.
