Regulus snuggled into James. They had decided to watch Stranger Things because season 4 just came out.
“Is it scary?” Regulus asked.
“A little. But it's okay! I'm here. I won't let anything happen to you,” James responded, his arm around Regulus’ shoulder.
James was not joking when he said “a little.” It wasn't until season 3 that really got Regulus.
“This is gonna hurt like hell, okay?” Johnathan said to a crying El.
Regulus could have guessed what he would do with the knife he disinfected, but he still buried his face into James’ chest, unable to bear the sight of Johnathan cutting open El’s wound and trying to remove the thing.
James turned down the tv, gently running his hands through his fiance’s hair to calm him down.
“Hey, it's okay. I know you don't like gore. I don't like it either. It's okay.” James continued to mutter words of comfort until Regulus felt better.
“Do you want to watch something else? We can binge Heartstopper instead?” James asked. “We can finish this later, okay?”
Regulus looked up. “Yes, please.”
About an hour later, Regulus was practically lying in James’ lap, sleeping peacefully.
James paused the show, gently picking up Regulus and taking him to bed. Regulus stirred when he could no longer feel the warmth emanating from the older boy. But before he knew it, James was cuddling with him again. And that's how they stayed for the rest of the night.
