Day 0
The time has come. Me and my family hauled my trunk to the train station, to platform 9 3/4, I said good bye and carried my trunk on to the train. The next time I saw them would be winter break, I would be sorted into my house and would have met my roommates who I would be living with for the next seven years of my life, hopefully there nice and I make at least one friend. I sat in an empty corridor in the train and put trunk in the overhead compartment and sat down on the seat. I took out a book and started reading as I waited for everyone to board. Eventually the train started to leave the station, I was a bit sad when I realized that nobody sat in the corridor with me. I wasn't too hung up on it and I continued reading, almost ten minutes later there were two people in the hallway, I overheard them talking about trying to find another corridor to sit in. From what I heard the people who they were sitting with before were extremely rude. I was so excited, for once I had a chance to meet new people, make new friends I put my book down and opened the door to my corridor, there were two people in the hallway, a redheaded girl and a raven haired boy. the girls hair was about waist length and was neatly kept down and she had striking green eyes. The boy on the other hand had shoulder length hair that was clearly unkempt it was messy and greasy he had brown eyes. I offered them a seat in my corridor and the conversation was as followed.
I said "Hey, I overheard you guys were looking for a seat. If you want there's seats in here."
They both looked at each other as of they were asking for the the other what they wanted after a short period of silence the boy stomped away practically dragging the girl with him with them gone I decided it sit back down and continue reading, I kept the door open in case they decided to sit but seeing there reaction I doubted it. About thirty minutes later I heard a girl's voice, I took me a second to realize she was talking to me. I looked up to see the same people from before.
The girl sheepishly spoke "ex- excuse me, but can we still sit here? I- its the only one left."
I nodded my head yes and they came in, They put their trunks in the overhead compartment and sat down. I went back to reading and they started to talk to one another, the girl was complaining about how her feet hurt from walking around with the heavy trunk, meanwhile the boy was complaining about the people they were sitting with before, it was annoying to listen to but this would probably be my only chance to make friends in other houses. In order to make them my friends I would have to interact with them so I put down my book and tried to make small talk, I hate making small talk.
"So, what are your names?" I said.
"Im Severus Snape, and this is Lily." Said the boy gesturing to the girl on the last part.
I recognize his last name almost immediately, he was a half blood, but he didn't say the girl's last name, I wonder why? To try an ease the awkwardness I tried to get a smile out of them so I tried sounding as cocky and full of myself as humanly possible.
I said "Im sure I don't have to introduce myself"
"A- actually I don't know who you are." Said Lily
"Oh? You don't?" I was not expecting that, she must be a muggle born, how exciting, I continued the conversation.
"I am Tom Zyler, Pleased to make your acquaintance."
"I- its very nice to meet you Tom!" She said with the biggest smile I have ever seen. I smiled back.
"anyways Lily, do you have a last name?" I questioned
"M-my last name is Evans, I am Lily Evans." She said. After that there was a long and awkward silence until finally someone said something
"so, what house do you want to get?" Said Severus.
"Severus stop, that's what got us kicked out of the last corridor!" Said Lily.
"I don't mind Lily, I hope I get into either Slytherin or Ravenclaw." I said
"Well I hope I get in to Slytherin!" Said Severus proudly
"I-i don't really care which house I get in" said Lily
The three of us continue to talk for the rest of the train ride. Eventually we arrived at the school. We grabbed our trucks and exited th train. When we did the whole first year students were met with a really tall, bearded man.
"Welcome to Hogwarts! I just know you all are going to love it here! Now if all you first years will follow me!" He practically yelled, he gestured for us to follow him, he led us to a giant lake across the water was the school. Along the water front was a pack of boats.
"Now the boats are enchanted, so all you have to do is get in a boat and it will paddle you to the school! Each boat can hold three people! if you need help holler for me."
Severus, Lily and I got in a boat along with the other students, the boats moved in sync with each other, if one stopped they all stopped and they didn't move until whatever the problem that made us stop was resolved. It was very annoying seeing that two students kept saying that they needed help when nothing was wrong it happened so much that one kid who was in a different boat casted a silencing spell the students who saw it laughed and applauded, including Lily and I, while the ones who didn't see just looked around super confused on what happened. For example, Severus who at the time it happened was looking at the water in the opposite direction. After we stopped laughing Lily told Severus what happened and he let out a short laugh as well.
We road the boats all the way to the other side of the giant lake. When every student was out of the boats, the boats Paddled away, I'm assuming to the docks near the train station.
Hagrid, again practically yelling, said "alright kids, follow me to the Great Hall!"
We followed him once again. He led us down a hallway we took a right and then we went up some stairs where we were greeted by a woman who looked to be in her mid thirties.
"The firs’-years, Professor McGonagall," said Hagrid.
"Thankyou, Hagrid. I will take them from here."
"Welcome to Hogwarts," said Professor McGonagall. "The start of term banquet will begin shortly, but before you take your seats in the Great Hall, you will be sorted into your houses. The Sorting is a very important ceremony because, while you are here, your house will be something like your family within Hogwarts. You will have classes with the rest of your house, sleep in your house dormitory and spend free time in your house common room.
"The four houses are called Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. Each house has its own noble history and each has produced outstanding witches and wizards. While you are at Hogwarts, your triumphs will earn your house points, while any rule breaking will lose house points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the House Cup, a great honour. I hope each of you will be a credit to whichever house becomes yours.
"The Sorting Ceremony will take place in a few minutes in front of the rest of the school. I suggest you all smarted yourselves up as much as you can while you are waiting.
"I will return when we are ready for you," said Professor McGonagall. "Please wait quietly."
She walked through the door, About five minutes past when a sharp voice spoke.
"Move along now, The Sorting Ceremony’s about to start." Professor McGonagall had returned.
"When I call your name, you will put on the hat and sit on the stool to be sorted," she said. She led is into the Great Hall, it was so big. There was candles floating in the air, banners hanging from the ceiling, each banner having the crest of the house of the table below it, yellow and black for Hufflepuff, blue and silver for Ravenclaw, red and gold for Gryffindor, and green and silver for Slytherin. Four banners, four tables, four houses, and at the end of the path in between the Ravenclaw and Gryffindor tables wad the sorting hat and the stool that would decide what we would do for the next seven years, who we would hang out with, our friends, and how weather or not my parents would be disappointed with me or not. My anxiety grew as each and every student was sorted into their house. the list McGonagall read students last name alphabetically. To be completely honest I space out so I realy didn't know who was sorted were, I was just listening for Lily's name. The A's went followed by the B's, the C's, the D's then finally the E's.
"Evans, Lily" Shouted Professor McGonagall.
Lily cautiously went up and sat on the stool. McGonagall placed the hat on her head. I didn't know why but I wanted her to be placed in my house, maybe it was her smile, maybe it was her personality, maybe it was the fact that she was muggle born, maybe because she wasn't scared to talk to me, she was so friendly to me for no reason. Suddenly my thoughts were interrupted by the hat shouts.
"Gryffindor!" Screamed the hat.
I don't know why but I was disappointed. McGonagall pointed to the table with the Gryffindor banner above it and Lily happily strutted over and sat at the table. I space out again, so I realy didn't know who was sorted were, yet again, I was just listening for Severus' and my name name.McGonagall carried on with the list. the F's went following was the G's, then the H's, the I's, the J's, and so on and so forth, it was all pretty boring until it go to the S's.
"Snape, Severus" Shouted McGonagall.
Imagine how embarrassing it would be if he didn't get Slytherin he practically was bragging about getting into the house before even getting sorted on the train. Thinking about it I let out a quiet laugh, no one noticed thankfully.
The hat began to yell. "Slytherin!"
I was happy for him, he got the house he wanted. McGonagall pointed to the table with the Slytherin banner above it and an Severus proudly walked over and sat at the table. McGonagall continued reading down the list. Twenty minutes of spreading out past until my name was finally called.
"Zyler, Tom" Professor McGonagall said loudly.
My name was the last one to be called I was so nervous but I knew I couldn't let anyone know I walked up and sat on the stool. McGonagall placed the hat on my head.
"Very intriguing, you want to be a Ravenclaw but you don't want to disappoint your family who are all Slytherins, correct?" The hat said so quietly only I could hear it.
"Ravenclaw!" The hat Screamed.
I was happy, I got the house I wanted but I just know I'm going to get sent a howler from my parents when they find out, but till then I was going to enjoy my new classmates and potential friends. I went to the Ravenclaw table and sat down near where Lily was sitting so we could talk. I was so happy that the Ravenclaw and Gryffindor tables were next to each other!
The appetizer came out first which was chicken noodle soup with an assortment of vegetables, next up was the salads which was lettuce, grape tomatoes, onions, and broccoli, then the Main course came out which was Turkey, along with mashed potatoes and a stuffing, lastly was dessert which was an assortment of any and every sweet you could think of. As soon as dinner vanished Dumbledore started giving a speech.
He said "I have a few words now that everyone is hydrated and fed. First years, as well as a few or our older students should be aware that the forest on the grounds is forbidden to all pupils."
He's eyes looking at the Gryffindor table.
"I have also been ask to remind all of you that there is to be no magic used in the hallways."
This time he was looking at the Slytherin table when he said this.
"Finally, Quidditch trials will be held next week. Anyone interested in playing for their house teams should contact Madam Hooch. That concludes this banque, follow you house prefects to the dormitories."
I was confused because I didn't know who the prefect for Ravenclaw was but as I was panicking everyone just stands up and starts walking like they know what they're doing, but then I hear a voice in the crowd.
"Alright Ravenclaws, follow me! I am Theodore Tonks, Ravenclaws Prefect."
'thank the fucking Lord's!' I think
I stop panicking and follow Theodore he leads us out of the Great hall, we took a Right, and went up a lot of stairs. At the top of the stairs was a door, on the door was a metal raven head with a knocker hanging off the bottom of it.
"Now, this is the door to our common room. All you have to do is knock on the door and answer the riddle that it gives you, like so."
Then Theodore knocked on the door and then the door began to speak.
"There are 100 people in a ship but not a single person is on the boat, how is this possible?" Said the door.
'How the living fuck did they enchant the door to talk?' I thought. But my thoughts were interrupted by Theodore
"Who thinks they know the answer?" He spoke.
About ten hands raised, including mine. Theodore looked at all the kids raising their hands and picked one, that wasn't me.
"You there, what is your name?" Theodore announced, pointing at a student.
"Me?" Said a Student.
Their hair was a golden brown, curly, and short, but still long enough to go in their eyes. Speaking of which their eyes were a beautiful autumn brown.
"Of course you!" said Theodore
"Oh, well Im Moss Reaper" said the student.
"Ok Moss what do you think the answer is?" Asked Theodore
"The answer is that it's possible because all 100 people are in a relationship." Said Moss.
"Let's try that!" Theodore said
Theodore knocked on the door again and it repeated the riddle but this time Theodore answered with what Moss told him. Just then the door began to open.
"Good job, Moss!" Theodore exclaimed.
He led us through the door and we were met with a huge room. The walls were an off white color, the floor was white with a dark navy blue tile pattern that mimicked the night sky, there was this fluffy white chair in the corner of the room, there were multiple couches arranged in a semi circle in two of the corners, circular tables with blue and gold chairs, there was a fireplace on the wall across the door, shelves with lots of books, and huge windows to let in the sunlight during the day.
'To bad I'll have to wait until morning to see the room in all its glory.' I thought
"Alright, the list of you names just got here so there should be 25 first years so when I call your name say here.
"Adeena, Mika"
"Here!" Exclaimed a happy boy with a deep voice, messy black hair, and brown eyes.
"Biggs, Ansel"
"Here." Said a girl in a monotone voice, she had short brown hair with slightly overgrown bangs, and blue eyes.
"Bones, Serenity"
"Here?" Said a girl, she sounded really confused on what was happening. She had her coiled dirty blonde hair in a messy bun, her hair paired well with her light blue eyes.
"Domhnall, Quinn"
"Here." mumbled an androgynous person, their wavy hair was at ear length all around, covering their eyes but highlighting all their other features.
"Edge, Alex"
"Here!" Echoed another strict person, their hair was cut as a short shag and was dark brown, their eyes were a pretty blue shade
"Fillion, Hayden"
"Here" said a boy with dark brown eyes and short straight brown hair sounding as if he was regretting his life decisions.
"Flawstryder, Adrian"
"Here" said a cheerful short boy with dark brown eyes and blond hair.
"Frostbrin, Rue"
"Here"said an emotionless voice belonging to a girl with Blue eyes and straight white hair.
"Grey, Octavia"
"Here"strictly said a girl with Green eyes and curly grey dyed hair.
"Kavan, Raine"
"Here!"exclaimed a boy with green eyes and shot curly red hair.
"Lorice, River"
"Here!" excitedly exclaimed a girl with Straight blonde hair, green eyes, and freckles.
"Monex, Mara"
"Here!" excitedly blurted a girl with long coiled dark brown hair and light brown eyes.
"Monex, Mark"
"Present!" jokingly exclaimed a boy with short coiled dark brown hair and light brown eyes.
"Newport, Allison"
"Here" loudly exclaimed a girl with blue eyes and outgrown red dyed hair and dark brown roots showing.
"Rayburn, Crow"
"Here" piped a sarcastic sounding girl, she had blue eyes and wavy brown hair.
"Reaper, Moss"
"Here!" Said the same person who answered the riddle, Their short curly golden brown hair bouncing up and down as they spoke and poking their light brown eyes.
"Rozel, Kelly"
"Here" confidently spoke a boy with brown eyes and wavy black hair.
"Ruelock, Aura"
"I'm Here" softly spoke a girl, she had blonde hair and blue eyes.
"Sands, Mire"
"Here" lazily said an androgynous looking person with dark brown eyes and coiled black ear length hair.
"Skies, Isabella"
"Here!" Blurted out an enthusiastic voice, it was a girl with curly brown hair and Crystal blue eyes.
"Skies, Piero"
"Here" said an unenthusiastic boy, he had dark brown eyes and thick brown wavy hair.
"Storms, Kyle"
"Here!" Exclaimed a boy with bright green eyes and short curly brown hair.
"Vitale, Lorenzo"
"Here"A boy said in a confident voice, he had deep Brown eyes and curly black hair.
"Welch, Brook"
"Here" softly spoke a boy with blue eyes and long straight brown hair.
"Zyler, Tom"
"Here" I said trying to make my voice sound as friendly as I possibly could.
"Ok, that means that everyone's here! Now, follow me over here to dormitories, Girls are on the left and boys are on the right." Theodore announced while walking us up a small flight of stairs and to a hallway.
"Your names are on the outside of the dorm you will be staying in, if you are having trouble finding your dorm ask me for help." Announced Theodore.
After that I went up the stairs to the boys dormitories, I went to the first year floor, and went to the end of the hallway to look for my name because after a while you learn that with a name that starts with a Z your going to be last for everything. I was right for doing that because my dorm was the last door on the first year dormitory floor. My roommates were Piero Skies, Kyle Storms, and Lorenzo Vitale. These were the guys that I will be hanging out with for the next several years of my life. I opened the door to see my that trunk was sitting in front of a bed.
The room had a carpet with the Ravenclaw crest on it with a silver border around the edges. On each side of the bed were windows, they were about one foot along the bottom and three feet along the sides, at the top the two sides combined to make a triangular shape. On the left side of the bed there was a light blue chair and a desk, on the right was a small dresser.
I went over to the bed and started to unpack my things and put them away, about a minute passed when all three of my roommates came through the door.
'Why did they come here all at once? Were they friends before Hogwarts? Would they want to be friends with me?' I wondered.
I continued unpacking my trunk in silence as my roommates unpacked their trucks and talked about school and joked around with each other. Eventually one of my roommates began talking to me but I was spacing out and focusing on unpacking so I didn't realize at first but I did after awhile.
"Hey you! Hey roommate! Hey guy with the face!"
I looked up to see the boy with pricing green eyes and short curly brown hair staring at me.
"Me?" I asked.
"Yeah you! Who else would I be talking about?" questioned the boy.
"well you do have two other roommates with faces so it could have been one of them." I said.
"True, but I just wanted to ask what your blood status is 'cause I heard that that's important here." He explained.
"I'm a pure blood. What about you?" I asked.
"Oh! um, I'm a mud blood." he said smugly.
"You know that's a slur right?" I questioned.
"Yea but I know your probably going to call me it anyway!" explained the boy.
"Well, I will have you aware that I do not use that kind of language, nor do I hang out with the people who do, but I understand how you might think that." I explained.
"Oh, ok. Well what's your name?" He asked.
"Tom Zyler, and you?" I questioned.
"Kyle Storms" He answered.
"I'm pleased to make your acquaintance." I said
"Why so you sound so fancy?" Asked Kyle
"I suppose it's just how I was raised. Now I'm done unpacking tell me if any of you need help." I said pulling out my book and starting to read. About ten minutes later I heard Kyle yelling for me.
"Hey guy with the face! Can you help me? Please." Asked Kyle.
"Sure." I answered putting down my book and going over to his bed.
When we were done everyone else was ready for bed so we all got into our beds and turned off the lights and I fell asleep.
