The Child
A family of three sat at a square table. In one chair was Mrs. Lily Evens Potter, her right facing the large window which showed the setting sun. The red and orange from the setting sun framed her face, and caught the squinting of her eyes as she smiled happily.
Next to her was her husband and Lord of the household, Mr. James Fleamont Potter, faced away from the window. The light made his wild hair look as if it had caught fire as he tilted back from the table with a relaxed smile.
Across from Mrs. Potter was a young boy, Charles Evan Potter, who was excitedly telling his parents about the party they were going to throw for him.
This was the apple of his parents eye. The child they loved with their whole being. This child was the Chosen One™.
As Charles ranted about his party, his thoughts centered only on himself, his parents ignored the last, unused seat at the table. The seat belonging to a child that no longer lived in this blissful home. They avoided thinking of this child with years of practice.
And in ignoring this child’s existence, they were unaware of the trials they put him through. Unknowing of the tribulations to come. Ignoring the son with no magic, as they had been told. He’s in a better place. He won’t be jealous of his brother if he doesn’t know him. This is what they told themselves.

On the other side of the country, Mr. Sirius Orion Lupin-Black sat on an old sofa by the fire. He had an empty glass in one hand and his wand in the other.
Mr. Remus Lupin-Black stood behind his husband, also with a glass that was otherwise untouched.
Both men were mourning the same child that Mr and Mrs. Potter ignore with their whole beings. They chase after this child, begging the Potters to let them have the child. Begging them to let them know where he is. But they never do, firm in the belief that he is happy.
Both Mr. Lupin-Blacks know that until they have the child they will never rest. They want their godson Harry James Potter.
But that boy doesn’t know that he has living family. That there are people looking for him. The child calls himself Boy, as it’s all he’s ever been called.
None of these people are aware of the girl who has claimed him as her brother, weather he know it or not.
