Chapter 3
Nicholas’ POV
Dinner went well once Charlie got over the shock that Harry Potter was our cousin. We pointed out that his name was Potter-Preda as our parents had adopted him formally once we got him out of Britain, everything was handed over to the British ministry when we did that so they could change their records although I doubt that they did. Our summer flew past as well and we were soon back in England in Diagon Alley to get our school supplies. Dani and I had decided to divide and conquer to get all our supplies for all three of us. She would get our books and go to the apothecary to get everything we needed from there while I would take Harry to get his school robes and see what else we could find before we would reconvene to all go get Harry’s wand even though I had wanted to get him one made back in Romania instead of using the pre-made ones that were sold in Britain. Harry and I walked into Madam Malkins to get him his robes and I got a few new things for myself and Dani since we had been starting to wear some things out or outgrow them.
“No offence to you and your abilities Madam Malkin, but do you have anything that isn’t like two centuries out of date?” I asked.
She chuckled. “I have more modern things in the back Mr. Preda for anyone that is visiting Britain and just happens to stop by for something. If you would like to take a look once I am done with your cousin I would be happy to show you both my other selections.” She says.
“Thank you Madam Malkin. I know that you work hard to please the people here with their outdated views.” I say before going to look at a few different pieces to replace parts of our uniforms.
“What you see here is strictly to please the British with their outdated views. I also do mail orders around the world and have a wide selection for any foreigners that come into the shop. It surprised me that Hogwarts had accepted foreign students when you and your sister came here in your first year.” She says.
“We came to honor our mother’s family since she was originally from here and attended Hogwarts. That is also the only reason that our names were even down for Hogwarts, Harry on the other hand had both his parents go to Hogwarts.” I say.
There were a few extra things said as she measured Harry for his school robes. When she was done we headed into her back room and looked at what she had to offer. After picking out a few things to get custom made I paid for everything and we left since the custom stuff wouldn’t be ready until we were at school so she would be mailing it out to us. Harry and I did a little more shopping and we stopped in the book store to see if either of us wanted anything outside our school books. Harry picked up a few books about various things to do with Wizarding Britain while I stopped at a shelf that had a bunch of books all featuring my cousin doing absolutely ludicrous things. I had let Dani know that we were at the book store to let Harry pick out whatever extra books he wanted so it didn’t surprise me when she seemed to materialize beside me.
“I noticed these too. Are you planning on doing something about it?” She asked.
“Yes. My first order of business will be getting as much information on the authors as I can before sending cease and desist orders to the printing companies before filing lawsuits against the authors for illegal use of the name of a minor without consent either from the minor or the minor’s guardian. Not to mention that it is just plain slander against the house of Potter. Mother would be appalled to see this if she was still alive, she might have been a Preda when she died but she was still a Potter until her dying breath. That’s why we came to this Enyo and Eris blessed country.” I say making sure to keep a little quiet so as to not draw attention to us.
Dani laughed. “I couldn’t agree with you more Brother.” She says.
I smirked and we moved to the front of the shop to wait for Harry. While we were waiting I bought the books and tucked them away before Harry could see them. Once Harry joined us we quickly paid for his books before heading out to get his wand. As soon as we were finished getting all of our school supplies I transported us home because I refused to stay in that delusional country any longer.
Our last bit of summer flew past and we were quickly saying goodbye to our Romanian friends before I transported us to the platform so we could catch the train.
“Trebuie să stau cu oameni de vârsta mea?” Harry asked.
“Poţi să stai cu noi dacă veri, dar probabil ar trebui să te avertizez că Gemenii Weasley şi Lee Jordan pot fi destul de puţini atunci când îi întâlneşti pentru prima data.” I tell him.
Harry nodded and we headed for the train. Dani and I helped Harry get his things on the train and into a compartment where he settled in with Dani so that I could go get both of our trunks. I tapped mine a few times as I picked it up and set it down on top of Dani’s before picking hers up and carrying them both onto the train. When I got them into our compartment Dani grabbed mine off the top so that I could put hers up with Harry’s. Once I was done that I took one end from Dani before tapping it again a few times and we moved to put it up with the others. As soon as we were done moving the trunks around I pulled the next book out of the series that had been made with our cousin’s name and continued reading it. Harry had caught me reading the first one and was just as appalled as we had been seeing them on the shelves.
“Oh merlin. Don’t tell me that you are actually reading that garbage.” I hear Fred say which told me that the Weasley’s were here.
“I am simply reading it for research so that I can put the fear of Hades into the authors for daring to use my cousin’s name without his permission or the permission of at the time of the writing and publication of these gods awful books our parents nor did they seek the permission of our brother before putting them on the shelves this year.” I say looking up from the book that I was reading and see the twins as well as Lee standing there.
“Harry Potter is your cousin?” The twins said together once they had gotten their trunks up with the rest of them.
Dani nodded and gestured to Harry since he was curled up in the corner of the compartment reading.
“Where is Percy?” I asked finally noticing that only the Twins were here.
“He made Prefect. Dad was proud and so were Bill and Charlie but mother’s treatment of him only grew worse over the summer. When we got on the train he said something about a meeting then he would join us.” George says.
Dani and I locked gazes around them before nodding to each other knowing that we might need to out ourselves to our friends depending on how Percy looked. While we waited I went back to reading to see just how far I would need to go in order to show these authors that what they did was wrong. When the door opened again I looked up and almost dropped my book to the ground with how bad Percy looked as he stepped into the compartment. Without a second thought I placed my book down before touching one hand to the wall of the compartment that was beside me and holding my other one towards the door. In an instant the door closed and the curtains were drawn before another wave of magic washed over the compartment making it so that nothing said inside could be heard in the hall and no one can enter or exit without my permission. As soon as we had the needed privacy for this conversation and so that Dani could check out Percy I got up and helped Dani get him sitting down since he looked ready to fall down.
“How did you… What did you…” Fred kept trailing off.
“Give Dani a few minutes and we will answer all your questions.” I reply.
The twins and Lee nodded before thankfully staying quiet. Dani did what she needed to for Percy before frowning at the results that she had gotten.
“Nicholas. Cred că trebuie să intraţi în contact cu Antoine. Probabil că ar trebui să verific şi Gemenii…” Dani says holding out what she had found on Percy.
I take the results from her and one look at them make me see red. I nodded to Dani and reached into my pocket for the device that all of us carried in order to contact back home quickly if we needed to.
“De ce ai nevoie Nicholas?” Antoine asked when he answered.
“S-ar putea să fie nevoie să implicăm consiliul în a îndepărta unii dintre prietenii noştri de mama lor. Ai auzit câteva din poveştile împărtăşite de Charlie… Ei bine… De fapt, îţi voi trimite doar ce a găsit Dani pe fratele lui, cu care suntem şi prieteni.” I say.
“You two haven’t…” Antoine says in English.
“We didn’t have a choice Antoine. Percy looked ready to keel over and quite frankly I don’t think that the fates are ready to let Hades and Thanatos have him yet otherwise he probably would have been dead before he even made it to Hogwarts based on the results that Dani found.” I say.
Antoine shook his head. “If it is that bad send me the results for all three of them and I will get the council involved but you know that it might take the entire school year to get anything to come of it since other than Charlie they have no real ties to Romania.” He says.
“I know. I just don’t want them going back to that awful place if I can help it.” I tell him.
After that the call ended and I looked around at the others to see all four of the English wizards looking at me like I had grown a second head.
