“Nice one, James!”
“Sirius, No!”
“He’s dead, Harry! He’s dead!”
Remus sat in his room, looking down into his lap. He had awoken from a rather unpleasant dream some time before, and decided to stay awake. He was sure he wouldn’t be able to sleep anyway. He joined his hands together, squeezing them.
He wasn’t quite sure how long he had been squeezing his hands, to the point of hurting himself, until Tonks slid their hands over his, holding his hands gently. “Love,” Remus looked up, his eyes betraying just how tired he was. “Did I wake you?” He whispered.
Tonks shook their head, moving one of their hands to cup Remus’s face. “No, My dear.” They spoke softly, closing their eyes. “Tell me, Are you thinking of him?”
Remus let out a shaking breath, “I’m sorry,” He began.
Tonks shook their head, kissing Remus softly. “Never apologize for your love, my dear.” She pulled him up from the chair he was resigning in, and hugged him. “I know how much you loved him.”
Remus tried to hold back a sob from the back of his throat, failing, he gripped onto his wife. “I miss him..” He replied, hiding his face in the crook of her neck. Which, meant he was leaning down at a rather uncomfortable angle. It wasn’t bad though. He was used to it, given how short Tonks is. “Oh god, I miss him so much..”
Tonks nodded, a silent understanding, holding onto him, letting him cry onto her. It took him a while , but his sobs slowly turned far more quiet, more distant. He was still shaking, holding onto them for support, but he felt secure. “My love, it’s nearly breakfast time, Would you like to lay down? I can make some food and bring it to you in bed?”
Remus replied with a head shake, “Please don’t leave me now, I just need to be by you..” pulling himself away from Tonks, he wiped his face with the back of his hand. “Oh, he would laugh if he could see me now.” He attempted to brighten the mood, to which Tonks frowned.
“He loved you, Remus. I suspect, that he still does, wherever he is now. He was bloody mad for you. We both love you so much.” She put her hands on either side of his face, he sniffled, “I know if he could see you now, he would tell you how strong you are. He would see a strong man, not a scared boy. You are strong Remus, and Him and I, we are always proud of you.” She kissed his forehead, before hugging him.
Remus breathed out shaky breath. Holding onto them. “I just wish he was here.”
“I know. So do I.”
