“Could you just hold me?”
Ben sat Leslie down on the couch. She just finished another round of vomiting, and finally felt good enough again to leave the bathroom.
The triplets managed to pick up a new virus at daycare: norovirus. Last week all three of them had it at the same time, which of course was absolute torture for both Ben and Leslie, then just a few days later it hit Ben for a couple days, and just as they thought they were in the clear, it got to Leslie.
“Are you okay? Are you going to be sick again?” Ben asked.
Leslie shook her head.
“Okay, just let me know,” he said, picking up a blanket and draping it over her.
Ben started walking away from their living room, when he heard Leslie call his name, and he turned around.
“Bennn,” she whined. “Don’t leave,”
“What’s up? I was just going to get you ginger ale. Is there something Else I can do for you instead?”
“Could you just hold me?” She asked quietly.
“Of course,”
He sat down on the couch, tugging her close to his chest, while she snuggled her face into the crook of his neck.
They sat there in silence for about 10 minutes, before it was interrupted by Leslie darting off to the bathroom once more.
And of course, he followed behind, holding her hair back and whispering comforting words in her ear.
