NANAMI YUUJI COULDN'T WIPE the giddy expression off his face no matter how many times he splashed it with water. he was crouched down near the marbled sink of the boy's bathroom, unable to cool down from the sheer happiness he felt.

not only did the tryouts for the drama club go well, but junpei got in as well.

"junpei, i'm proud of you! you stepped out of your comfort zone." he blindly gave the boy standing behind him a thumbs up. "sooo? how do we feel...?" he asked, but yoshino's bashful silence gave it away.

"...you were right. drama club wasn't that bad." the corner of his lips curled up slightly, slowly matching yuuji's contagious smile.

"oh man, i hope we end up doing a musical!"

junpei shivered from the sole idea of singing in front of other people, but he couldn't bring himself to shatter his new friend's daydream.

suddenly, the door of the washroom cracked open, making the black-haired look around nervously. he didn't have the best experiences in his previous school's bathroom, since it was one of the spots where his bullies corned him.

he felt safe with yuuji, and he doubted that he'll go through something as traumatic ever again; however, when two basketball players entered the cramped room, he couldn't help but unconsciously hold his breath, praying that he goes unnoticed.

yuuji continued humming hamilton songs as he continued washing his face obliviously. he clearly didn't hear the newcomers' heavy steps with all the noise he was making.

the first boy had his long blue hair in a ponytail, his chest rising and falling rapidly. he had an unsettling smile on his face, but he gasped once he recognized yuuji's silhouette.

"look, l/n, it's your twin." he teased, pointing at the pink-haired boy who was still unaware of their presence.

junpei whimpered when the "l/n" boy glared his way before he tsked, "don't piss me off. i told you, i only got an older—"

"brother." the last word died on sukuna's tongue once his supposed 'twin' lifted his head, their eyes meeting through the mirror.

he blinked owlishly in surprise. he couldn't even blame mahito for reaching this conclusion.

"a doppelgänger, huh? my nana would freak out." he crossed his arm, remembering how superstitious his grandmother was. she would definitely knock on wood and ask him to throw salt over his shoulder.

"your nana?" mahito tilted his head curiously.

"yes, my nana. or grandma for slow people like you."

before mahito got the chance to bite back, a loud slap echoed, making everyone turn their heads towards nanami yuuji who now had a red hand mark on his cheekbone.

"is this real?" he mumbled, pinching his arm.

"huh?"

"oh my god! i think my reflection just talked." yuuji spoke seriously. he stood there, stunned at his 'reflection' who looked back at him with a disgusted expression plastered on his face.

"he just looks like a delinquent version of me! maybe that would be me if i grew up in a 'hood', you feel me?" the boy tried to copy his reflection's scowl.

"what the fuck did you just say, you buffoon?"

sukuna gritted his teeth, barely restraining himself from punching the second most idiotic person he has met today. the top spot was reserved for his homeroom teacher.

"and it swears!"

"that's not your reflection, yuuji." junpei gulped, hiding behind his collar in fear.

"oh, phew! it would have been creepy if my reflection had a mind of its own."

"stop fucking 'round, you idiot." sukuna spat, a hint of a foreign accent noticeable in his speech. he walked to the so-called yuuji boy, forcefully tugging on his uniform to make him face his way.

and it was only when they were face to face that something clicked in his brain.

"mahito, get out."

"what!? but whyyyy?" he whined at the thought of missing out on the fight that was threatening to break out.

"family matters."

"full name."

"nanami yuuji." the boy sweat dropped, feeling like he was getting interrogated by the police. he wondered whether his look-alike ever got into trouble with the cops.

"mother's name."

"i'm motherless."

sukuna sighed out in irritation, hesitating to ask the next question. though, he was so impassive that the two boys with him couldn't notice it.

"..father's name?" his voice came put a little rougher than intended.

"nanami kento."

the boy's hands trembled a little in rage as he came to know his biological father's name.

"siblings."

"don't have any. not that i know of, at least." yuuji shrugged before cracking a joke, "you could be my long lost brother, who knows."

"are you actually stupid? didn't you make the damn connection already?" sukuna gripped his pink locks in frustration. "my name's l/n sukuna, i don't have a real dad, but i have my mom and my older brother with me."

"awn, you're so lucky! i wish i had a mom and a big brother, too." yuuji's eyes sparkled from the idea, making both junpei and sukuna groan.

"we're twins, for god's sake."

"yeah, dude!" he bumped his fist against sukuna's clenched hand, " you're my brother from another mother!"

"from the SAME mother! you two are related by blood!" junpei intervened loudly, visibly exasperated.

yuuji perked up, straightening his posture.

"for real?"

"for real."

"okay."

"that's it? no question, no nothing?"

"no offence, but like, why did our mom keep... you out of us two?" the boy pondered, scratching his head from the mental gymnastics.

"shhh, yuuji. she probably didn't know how the attitudes were going to turn out." junpei whisper-yelled, making sukuna's brow twitch.

"s'kuna, what's mama like?" the other boy asked out of nowhere, eyes filled with childlike curiosity. "is she graceful? kind? generous?"

"i dunno, probably. everyone says that we're really alike."

"oh."

"nanami, if your edgy friend opens his fat mouth one more time, i swear—"

"i bet she's super cool!" yuuji marveled.

"yeah. she's the best." sukuna agreed immediately, forgetting junpei's presence the moment you were mentioned again,  "she carries the whole family."

"does your big bro live with you?"

"yeah."

"do you have grandparents? both of mine are alive!"

"my nana and my grandpa live with us, too."

"mine don't, but they come over pretty often! they're.. nice, i guess. well, grandmother tries to be."

sukuna felt like something was off the moment he heard how yuuji referred to her.

"bet she's a pain in the ass." he mumbled, rolling his eyes, "no wonder why her son has no balls."

"i mean— she insists that i call her mom, but it feels weird."

"she. does. what." sukuna's gaze narrowed. this had to be the cherry on top.

"no, no, you got it all wrong! it's not malicious or anything." yuuji frantically waved his hands around, desperately trying to keep his brother calm. "she just doesn't want me to feel unloved since mom left us when i was a baby."

"she said that mom left you?"

"that's what everyone says."

"they said that you were unloved?"

"yeah, pretty much."

"that's bullshit." sukuna spat, his jaw tightening in fury. "that's the most stupid thing that i've heard all day, and trust me, i've heard a lot today."

"did you know that i existed?" yuuji pointed out, being logical for once. "because you don't sound like you do. what kind of mother doesn't tell her children that she has another kid somewhere in the world??"

"the same thing could be said about your asshole of a father. did you know that you had me? did you even hear him say my name? choso's name?"

"that's different! i never see him. he's at work most of the day. being a ceo has its own set of problems, you know?"

"my mom works three jobs to put food on our table. yet, her number one priority is her family. i don't want to hear shit about your sad excuse of a father." sukuna spoke in an oddly calm manner, standing up from the cold bathroom floor.

picking his gym bag up, he spared the two boys one last glance over his shoulder.

"if you want to meet my mom, come find me. i don't run after losers like you and the rest of your family."
