YOU PARKED THE CAR NEAR THE SCHOOL'S GYMNASIUM, making the rooster in choso's arms wiggle around in excitement.

"i'll cook you when we get home." you glared at it, and somehow, the rooster got the message and stopped moving.

"awn, but sweetie! choso loves the rooster!" your dad whined from the backseat, and your eldest son nodded shyly at his words.

"it seems to me that you like it more than choso does..." your mom rolled her eyes, making you snort.

sukuna was in the middle seat, his body squished comfortably by his grandparents. he cracked his joints before leaning forward to pet the rooster.

peeking to see whether there was any school staff near the car or not, your mom hid sukuna's ferrets under her shawl.

"okay, everything is in place." she said as she put on her sunglasses.

"sorry, boy." your dad squeezed sukuna's shoulder, "i don't think that we can bring the rooster with us since it won't fit under your nana's shawl. you better say bye to him now."

"don't be dramatic, grandpa. it's not like i'm dying." he shrugged, unbothered.

getting out of the car, sukuna walked quickly towards the gym, leaving you behind. you were about to catch up to him, but your father held you back.

"let him go, sweetie. he's a teenage boy. he's probably embarrassed that his relatives are dropping him off—"

suddenly, a distant voice gained your attention.

"MOOOOM? NANA? WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING? YOU ALL BETTER HURRY UP." he yelled from the other side of the parking lot, attracting attention to himself.

"this brat..." your eyebrow twitched in annoyance. "IS THAT HOW YOU TALK TO YOUR MOTHER? WAIT 'TIL I GET MY HANDS ON YOU." you stomped towards the boy, making him panic from afar.

"guess he wasn't embarrassed at all." your mom snickered, bumping her hip against the old man's sulking figure.

"he's so unpredictable..."

"man, those private schools don't mess around." you mumbled under your breath.

"sweetie, you shouldn't put so much pressure on yourself." your mom held your hand, her eyes pained. "you lost so much weight since you've started working overtime..."

"if it's for my son, then it's worth it." your stern voice left no room for argument, and she knew.

"i'm just saying. he would've turned out just fine if he went to that public school across the street. you went there, remember?"

i don't want him to turn out like me, you thought, but you didn't say it out loud. instead, you simply chuckled.

"leave it in the hands of god. i had a dream last night. dreams are good indicators, you know?"

"...sure."

"you're insufferable."

in the meanwhile, your youngest son was being dragged by the arm from one corner of the gym to the other. his grandpa had volunteered to help him find his homeroom.

muttering many 'sorry's and 'excuse-me's, your dad had finally spotted his name. motioning for him to come closer, sukuna rudely pushed people aside to join him.

'L/n, Sukuna.'

the boy glanced at his grandfather from the corner of his eyes, seeing the man's soft expression as he looked around in content. sukuna didn't have a real dad, but this one worked just fine.

"dad." he called out, and your father swore that his heart melted each and every time his grandsons would call him that. "i bet our last name sounds way better than my sperm donor's last name."

"yeah, yeah." your dad deadpanned, annoyed that the sweet moment was ruined by sukuna's unnecessary comment. however, he wouldn't want it any other way.

"heya! i'm mr. gojo! what your name, young man?" a white haired man popped out of nowhere, making sukuna furrow his brows. he didn't like this man already.

"his name's sukuna!" your dad grinned, extending his hand for a handshake.

"wow, what a crisp name, dude!" he said, making the young boy cringe.

ugh, don't let this moron be my teacher, sukuna mentally prayed. he had promised you to stay out of trouble, but he just knew that he wouldn't be able to hold back if his teacher was THIS infuriating.

"well, i'm glad to see you since i'm your teacher this year! yay me!" the man child cheered as sukuna's scowl deepened.

"scary!" gojo mocked a shocked expression before laughing, "you really are y/n's kid!"

now, this caught his interest.

"how do you know my mom?"

"you know mr. l/n, i couldn't believe that y/n had another kid! when i saw the last name on my list, i thought it was a coincidence. there's much more immigrants in japan these days, you feel me?" he ignored sukuna, choosing to interact with your dad instead.

"but then, i saw that scowl, and i knew for sure that this was her kid." he clutched his stomach as he laughed loudly, making the old l/n laugh uncontrollably as well.

"don't talk about my mom, old man." sukuna snapped, his eyes burning holes into gojo's skull.

"but i've known her since we were your age! we're old friends!" he whined, and your son was getting angrier by the second.

"i don't care. shut up."

choso blinked owlishly at the scene as he walked past them. his eyes were stuck to sukuna's form, making sure that he was alright—until someone ran straight to his chest, making him stumble back.

"oh! i'm so sorry, man. i wasn't paying attention." the boy gave him a sheepish smile as he rubbed his nape.

choso's jaw dropped; a boy, a carbon copy of his own brother, was right in front of him. minus the nasty glare and the rude personality.

his brain connected the dots immediately, making him choke out a single word.

"yuuji."

"huh?"

"nothing." he managed to gulp. he was beyond overwhelmed.

before the pink-haired boy could ask for an explanation, someone familiar made their appearance.

"i would like to apologize for my son's carelessness." a blonde man sighed out as he walked up to yuuji.

"it's... it's alright." choso stuttered a little as nanami's eyes met his. pleased with the outcome, he turned away, yuuji following his dad after saying goodbye.

choso could feel his heart breaking into a million pieces.

not only did he miss out 15 years of his little brother's life, but someone he had once called 'dad' didn't recognize him anymore.

was he that unforgettable?

swallowing the sob that threatened to escape his lips, he turned away, pushing past the sea of bodies.

he couldn't let you see them.
