chapter 4 The letters
It felt like no time when Katie's acceptance letter for Hogwarts came and it was off to Diagon alley to get what she needed. By the time September 1st came Sirius and Remus did not know how to feel. On one hand, they were saying goodbye to their little girl, and they would not see her until Christmas. However, on the other hand, they wanted her to have the same experience and the same amount of fun that they had. So, as they stood on the platform waving goodbye to her tears in their eyes and once, she was out of sight they walked over to Molly Weasley who had also just waved goodbye to most of her children and offered to have her and her children over for some tea and to let their kids play together, and that became a tradition, every time they waved goodbye to their children, they would go back to someone’s house and have some tea and chat. They waited the next day to find out what house she had gotten into, and they were ecstatic that she was in Gryffindor. Professor McGonagall had explained that due to the number of students, there was going to be a gender-natural room in which Katie was in with George and Fred Weasley and a girl named Angelina Johnson with spells and charms around the bed so no funny business could go on.
By the end of her first week at Hogwarts Katie could say two things for certain. She liked potions, but she hated Professor Snape. Snape was an ass, he picked on the students who were not naturally talented at potions. He also had favoured, he was the head of Slytherin and believed that they did no wrong. But the thing she hated most about him was the way he looked at her. When Sirius and Remus got her letter, they were not happy.
“He fucking glared at her for knowing the answers to his questions. He is taking his fucking grudge out on children who had nothing to do with it. Katie is not James or Lilly we all know that. And he cannot get off his fucking high horse as well he was the one that started all of this, and he created a spell to specifically kill us” Remus ranted to an amused Sirius and Potter/ Longbottom children. Sirius sighed knowing that for once he had to be the ‘adult’ in this situation. “I know baby, but what can we do? We have already complained to dumbles and remember what he said ‘Severus is a good professor and deserves a chance’ even though we know is a loud of crap, so we just have to wait until he messes up so bad that dumbles can’t even protect him.” So that night once they got the kids to bed, they wrote Katie back and told her to be careful and not to make any trouble that could get her into trouble.
So, as her first and second years went by, and Snape only got worse but Katie got creative with her pranks, with the help of a particular pair of red-headed twins. Most of their pranks were against Snape and some of the older students that they saw were picking on kids younger than them. What they never did was pick on people just because they felt like it, though they have pranked the whole school more than once with the help of her Padfoot.
Harry and Neville had been Excited to attend Hogwarts after hearing their sister and their uncles talk about what it was like to be at Hogwarts. Even Ron was Excited, although he was scared that he would not be able to be as good as his brothers. But Molly and Arthur, both reassured him that it didn’t matter if he didn’t achieve what his brothers achieved while at Hogwarts, they would always be proud of him no matter what.
So, on July 31st 1991, when the two boys came running down the stairs they were greeted by their two smiling uncles each with a letter in their hands. “Are those our letters!” Neville exclaimed running up to hug his uncles. “they might be pup” Sirius said trying to keep the smile off his face when he saw both boys' eyes light up with excitement. “he’s only teasing you boys. Here you go boys, happy birthday”. “Thank you Uncle Remus” Harry and Neville exclaimed while grabbing their letters.
Dear MR Potter
I am pleased to inform you that you have been accepted into Hogwarts schools of which craft and wizardry.
Please find the enclosed list of all necessary equipment. The term starts on the 1st of September. We await your owl no later than July 31st

One Pair of Protective Gloves (dragon hide or similar)

Harry read the letter and all of the equipment list. “can we go to Diagon alley today and get our supplies” Harry begged his uncles while using puppy dog eyes along with his brother. “Ok, fine we can go today but, first you two have to get your birthday breakfast and happy birthday, Harry”. harry and Neville cheered as they saw uncle Moonys famous chocolate chip pancakes waiting for them. as they were eating there was a pecking coming from the kitchen window. "who could that be at this time in the morning" Sirius grumbled going to fetch the owl that was waiting for him at the kitchen window. "moony come in here for a second" Sirius shouted from the kitchen. "what is it, the boys are wanting to finish quickly so they can get to Diagon ally quickly." he said "we have job opportunities to teach at Hogwarts" "WHAT" exclaimed Remus surprised that he got a job opportunity to teach. teaching had been his dream since he was a kid, but with his condition he wasn't allowed to unless the school knew of his condition meaning nobody wanted to hire him. but here in his hands was an invitation to do just that. "what do you want to do" he asked, if Sirius said no then he wouldn't say yes to the position, he couldn't be away for a whole year from him. "its your dream moony if you want to then we can both say yes I would love to teach as well, and you would be a great muggle studies teacher. so are we saying yes"?
