Chapter 20
It was winter break and Gellert had just gotten to Hogsmead with Newt and was playing with the boy after starting a fire. He helps Newt build something with wooden blocks, not quite sure what it was until Pick climbs in it and up to the top of it. “Did we really just make a house for Pick?” he laughs and smiles a bit “You two are spoiled” he picks Newt up and kisses his head. Newt lays his head on Gellerts shoulder and yawns, starting to fall asleep.
Gellert goes to lay him down in his bed when the door opens “Szia szerelmem” he says quietly and lays Newt down. He tucks the almost five year old in and goes back to the living area, Quietly shutting the door. Gellert gets almost tackled by a very happy now 12 year old, hugging him tightly “hallo auch dir Theseus” he kisses the boys head then gently pries him off to go over to Albus.
Albus had been dusting off and putting his and Theseus’ shoes and winter clothes away since the boy all but ran up when he saw the lights to the loft on. Albus knew Gellert was coming but didn’t tell Theseus because he wanted it to be a surprise, the last the boy had heard from his other father in a letter was he was doing business in China which was a month ago. The auburn man smiles and kisses Gellert “I missed you.” He smiles and laughs a bit as Gellert spins them around in a dance.
Gellert sits on the couch with him after he deemed it enough dancing “I missed you too mon petit phénix.” He kisses him once more and hums “Newt liked China, he got to see a pixiu and a Chinese fireball, of course both from a safe distance..much to Newt's dismay.” He let Theseus go through the bag on the table that had some gifts for him.
Albus laughs a bit and lays his head on Gellerts chest “so the piece I read about the ‘new world movement leaders kid throwing a disgraceful fit’ was true?” He closes his eyes as Gellert laughs with him and relaxes on his chest. First term had been difficult with getting the older years ready for their testing and most of them just refused to study, instead being out with their friends from school end to curfew, with an exception for dinner. Theseus thankfully had made some good friends, he had been very enthusiastic in most of his lessons too, though he is having trouble with transfiguration. He had enjoyed the letters Gellert sent him, mostly poetry; both original and already written poems the blond had enjoyed, and updates about his traveling and projects. Though nothing could compare to Gellert whispering poems to him while they fell asleep.
Albus looks up when Theseus jumps on Gellert. “Apu, they're amazing!” The boy hugs Gellert. Gellert hugs him back and kisses his head, looking at the table of gifts.
“There’s one you haven’t seen yet, you have to find it” he lets go of Theseus as the boy runs around trying to look for it. Gellert hums and pulls Albus close again “he’s not going to find it easily”
Albus laughs a bit and kisses his cheek “you’re really going to make him look for it?” He lays his head back down when Gellert nods and he hums “you’re hair is whiter you’re only 24, you’ve been playing with dark magic again” he closes his eyes.
“There is not light or dark magic-“
“It’s only magic” Albus finishes his sentence, “I would rather you not teach our children that considering it’s automatic expulsion in Hogwarts.” Albus yawns and hums as Gellert rubs his back “I missed you”
“I missed you too, take a nap you’re tired” he kisses his head and looks to see how Theseus was doing. The boy was still looking around and he smiles a bit. He lets Theseus look for a few minutes more and hums “look behind the books” he says quietly. Watching as Theseus pulls out a gold pocket watch and catches the 12 year old as he runs back over “careful you’ll wake your father” he whispers.
“This is so cool, thank you Apu” he whispers back and opens it. Showing a photo of him and Newt, it was taken shortly after they found Newt. Theseus looked up at him confused, he didn’t know why it was just him and his brother.
“It’s so you can always be reminded how important your family is, no matter how much you fight over petty things. That doesn’t include serious things like if he tries to kill you” Gellert kisses Theseus’ head “Newt is different, he’s going to cause a lot of trouble when he grows up and I trust that you two will always be there for each other to keep each other safe when we aren’t there with you.”
Theseus nods and leans on Gellerts other side “what do you know so much about things that are going to happen? Dad says it’s because you can see the future but isn’t that really rare?”
Gellert nods and looks at The ceiling “I can, it’s how I ended up with you father. And how I knew we were going to find Newt.” He looks back at his oldest “I see a lot of things, some important and some not but all of them I tell your father. And now that you’re older, if they pertain to you and it’s something dangerous I will tell you” Gellert hums “sometimes it happens sometimes it doesn’t, it all depends on what people choose one day.”
Theseus tilts his head “how?”
“Well…say I saw a vision of you asking someone you like out and they reject you, that is only one possible outcome of that specific event. You could decide not to at the last minute, they could get sick that day and not be there, or something could happen between when I saw that and when you ask that changed their mind about you and they end up saying yes.” Gellert hums “everything in the future can be changed by one little thing. A rock being thrown just a second earlier or just a fraction in a different direction can change the events in time drastically”
Theseus nods along “that’s cool, but what’s the point of seeing the future if you don’t know if it will happen?” He stands back up and stretches.
“I don’t know, you’d have to ask the fates, but not anytime soon” he slowly gets to and picks Albus up “now go and lay down in your room, I’m going into your ours” he pushes the door open with his back and makes sure Theseus and Newts door shuts before he shuts theirs.
