13-Sept
Hello Diary
Hogwarts has permitted students to go home today so that any who wish to pay their respects to Queen Elizabeth may do so.
It is sad how much of a delay there is to receive muggle news in the wizarding community; the Queen’s death on 8-Sept was announced in a special edition of the Daily Prophet that arrived during dinner last evening. Considering she was our Queen, be we muggle or Magical, I feel the wizarding community has done itself a disservice to not keep better aware of the happenings in the muggle community. Surely at least the government is something Wixen should pay attention to? I wonder how King Charles’ reign will affect the wizarding community.
Classes for today and the rest of the week, until Tuesday, were cancelled before we left for our dorms last night and we were told that we could remain at school or go home this morning. I am currently riding the Hogwarts Express home. My parents will surely wish to pay their respects to Queen Elizabeth. I do as well.
It will be nice to see Lottie as well. Hopefully the surprise visit home will cause her to forgive me for having not yet written her since her letter arrived last week.
Geoff wants to play a round of exploding snap and since he is the only friend with me in the carriage, or even on the train (all of my other new friends either were picked up at the school or Hogsmeade, or chose to stay at Hogwarts,) I think I shall cater to his need for entertainment. On a whole, the train is very quiet, nothing like the boisterous, excited sounds on the day we went to school. I think everyone on the train (mostly muggleborns and halfbloods who reside in the muggle community) is feeling a bit subdued as we mourn our Monarch.
God Save The Queen.
May she be forever blessed in His embrace and find peace with the Angels and her family who have gone before.
Ava
