Dear Diary
I received my Hogwarts letter today!
I know what you're thinking. I thought so, too. Surely Mom or Dad or someone paid for one of those gift things for the Harry Potter fans. Everyone knows I love the books! But, NO! Absolutely no one knew where it came from! Still, I was waiting for someone to come out and say it was from them. Imagine my parents and my shock when someone knocked on the door and introduced himself as Professor Cauldwell.
Its all true! Or at least I think it is. Professor Cauldwell chuckled when I asked about the books and told me that I should wait for my History of Magic class instead of telling me if the books were true. He was very friendly, though. He told my parents that he teaches Muggle Studies, so I won't be in his class, but that he can be an advisor for me if I ever need someone to talk to who is a Muggleborn like me.
I get to get a pet owl and a cauldron and quill pens and all the fun things in Harry's list of school supplies! I can't wait! Professor Cauldwell did assure me that Diagon Alley is a very real place and that I will be able to get everything there. He is going to call my parents and set up a day sometime soon where he can guide us, and possibly a few other muggleborn students and their families to Diagon Alley together so that he can assist in making things easier. I can't wait. I hope we can go tomorrow!
I'm sad that he told me that I can't tell all of my friends why I am suddenly not going to school with them, but I really wasn't surprised. I will tell them that I got a scholarship to a fancy private school. It isn't entirely untrue. I did get a scholarship and Hogwarts is definitely a private school. I'll have to be careful when I write home what I say, but Mom and Dad both promised to deliver my letters to my friends for me.
I don't know how I shall ever sleep tonight! I'm so excited! I will get to learn magic! REAL magic!
Oh. Dad just scolded me to get to sleep. I'll write more again soon, Diary.
Love,
Ava
