Chapter 6
Harry was shocked that they had such experiences. It made him wonder if he was already truly chosen by Giratina. He was almost killed by Nagini, the shiny Rayqauza that Voldemort controlled. But how could he be certain? It also looked like they actually spoke with their Legendary, which means he would also be able to speak with Giratina. But that was for another moment. Right now, he finally had a flying lesson. He shared it with the slytherins. Harry at first wanted to try a flying broom, but Ash was able to convince him that a pokemon would be much better.
Arriving at the location where the flying lessons were held, Madam Hoogh stood ready with brooms in a line and Pokemon in another line. Of both were enough for every student, but the brooms looked like they had seen much better days. There were three types of pokemon that stood proudly waiting for their flying lesson. Those pokemon were Swellow, Pidgeot and Altaria. The first thing they heard was that neither of these pokemon were allowed to be catched, and the first one who tried, would be excused from catching class this entire year. This got a few of the students, those who already started to let their pokemon out of their pokeball, startled and obedient.
“Please go to your preferred flying method, right now. Those who pick a pokemon should know that not every flying type pokemon is right for you to fly on. For example a pidgey, while able to fly, is not a rideable pokemon and should not be used that way. You also need to remember if they are strong enough to carry you. The boys are smarter to pick either Swellow or Pidgeot, while the girls are easier to handle for Altaria.” Madam Hoogh said.
Ash walked to a Swellow and a Pidgeot that stood next to each other. He looked thoughtful to decide which one of the two he would pick, until a Pidgeot declined another student and rushed to Ash.
“Whoa, what are you doing?” Ash exclaimed in shock, trying to dodge the wild pokemon.
Pikachu, who always sits on Ash’s shoulder, jumped on the wild Pidgeot. The Pidgeot calmed down, and instead of trying to attack Ash, began to bump their head on his chest. Madam Hoogh started to walk to Ash, when suddenly Pidgeot touched the pokeball on his belt and went inside.
“Mister Ketchum, I told you already that you were not allowed to catch one of the pokemon used for the flying lesson, I will discuss this with professor McGonagall.” she said sternly.
“But I didn’t catch him today. I caught Pidgeot at the start of my journey in Veridian Forest.” Ash tried to explain. “I already owned him, so how could I be punished for something I did ten months ago.”
“Sadly non of you have a pokedex already, or you could show it by looking at the catch date of a pokemon. But that will have to wait till next year, for now, let out the Pidgeot and I so hope you didn’t release more of those pokemon.” Madam Hoogh said.
“Lucky me, come out Pidgeot.” Ash said while throwing Pidgeot’s pokeball up. He immediately sat on Pidgeot’s back and looked to the teacher to see when they would start.
Harry took the Swellow that looked offended to Ash, when he sat on his own Pidgeot. Soon every student sat down on a pokemon or broom. Madam Hoogh explained that while most brooms worked the same, pokemon were a whole different type of flying. A broom was more like a bike, in that you controlled the way it would go. A pokemon could rebel and fly a whole different route than you would envision. While they would be using wild pokemon right now, it would be better if everyone caught a flying pokemon sometime while at school. Most flying pokemon were proud and wouldn’t listen to someone they don’t trust. And trust is vital between trainer and pokemon, even the magical trainers need it.
Neville, an housemate of Harry and Ash, was deeply afraid of falling down. He also tried to keep on the ground, where he felt safe. But Madam Hoogh forced him to either pick out a pokemon or pick up a broom, because he would go into the air. He tried to walk to the pokemon, but all that were left, flew up in the sky not looking at him. Trudging back to the brooms, he picked up one on random. As soon as Madam Hoogh said they could try to get in the air, Neville shot up. In his panic he let go of the broom and fell down.
Suddenly before he could reach the ground, everyone saw a green glow around him. The next moment he stood next to madam Hoogh, looking confused at his hands. To be safe, madam Hoogh took him to the hospital wing, saying everyone should stay on the ground, and she would hunt Ash down if he went anywhere else until she was back.
“Why do they need to keep saying it?” Ash asked sullen.
“Because you are a flight risk.” Harry said blunt.
“Still, not a reason to keep saying it. I haven’t explored the school yet and didn’t leave the grounds.”
“Ah, Ash, we couldn’t even keep you for more than a week in one place while we were traveling.” May said, joining the conversation.
“That may be so, but…”
“No but, you are still such a little kid sometimes.” Iris also joined the conversation.
“I hate both of you.” Ash pouted.
“No you don’t” they said in unison.
Harry felt a bit left out, he didn’t know anyone really beside Ash, and he was way to social for Harry’s liking. He also had the disadvantage that he never travelled before coming to Hogwarts. But suddenly Iris included him into the conversation.
“How do you know he is a flight risk, Dragon Child?” Iris asked him.
“I lived with him for about a week, with the professors of the Alola region. They had to ward their house to keep him inside.” Harry answered truthfully. “Wait, did you just call me Dragon Child? My name is Harry, Harry Potter.”
“Well met, Harry. I may call you Harry right?” May asked.
“Of course you may. But Iris, why the Dragon Child?”
“Same conversation as yesterday. To be fair it is a wonder Ash is not a Chosen Child with how much Legendary Pokemon he has seen.” Iris said.
“It was not that much right?”
“It was, Ash. Before we travelled together, you had already seen Ho-oh, Lugia, the Legendary Birds, the Legendary Beasts, Mew and Mewtwo, Celebi, Latios and Latias. While we were travelling, you saw Kyorgre, Groudon, Rayqauza, the Hoenn Regi’s, Manaphy, Jirachi and Deoxys.” May said.
“And before you met me, you added Giratina, Arceus, Dialga, Palkia, the Lake trio, Cresselia, Darkrai, Heatran, Shaymin. In our travel, you added like all the legends of Unova.” Iris added.
“Wow, that is quite a lot of Legendary Pokemon to have seen. Indeed how have you not been chosen by a Legendary Pokemon.” Harry said, surprised.
“Well, I believe that old hat said I was chosen by Ho-oh, but I can’t remember how to be honest.” Ash said, shrugging.
All three of them listening were in shock. He was a Chosen Child, but didn’t even know how. Suddenly May got a metaphorical light bulb above her head.
“So that is how you were able to survive most of the things that would kill anyone else. You used your connection to Ho-oh to survive it.”
“Huh?” Iris, Harry and Ash looked at her confused.
“Well, Ho-oh is the Legendary Phoenix of the Sky. It is said that they can’t be killed because of it sole ability of Regenerate. It always rises out of the ash. And it is able to restore a pokemon, like they did with the three original forms of Suicune, Entei and Raikou.”
“Ah, still don’t get it how it connects to me surviving things supposedly would kill anyone else.”
“So you mean petrification would not kill someone else, or being launched into a rock by a psychic pokemon? It totally would.” May said drastically.
“No it wouldn’t kill them, just traumatize them a lot.” Ash said confidently.
“Ugh, you are just impossible.” May said while Madam Hoogh came back.
“Well done on staying on the ground. Mister Longbottom needs to stay in the hospital wing for a bit, but will join you in your next class. Please go back to your pokemon or broom and let’s try again.” she said.
At the end of the class everyone was able to fly at least a bit. Ash, who being a Chosen Child of Ho-oh was able to fly the most and able to even do some tricks, which made Madam Hoogh shout at him again. While they were having lunch, Malfoy, being the ass he is, came to mock Neville for falling down of his broom. Harry overheard and tried to help him.
“Malfoy, kindly shut up about it. As if you didn’t fall down the first time.” Harry said to him.
“Of course I didn’t fall down. I was able to fly since I was a toddler.” Malfoy said laughing cruelly. “I bet neither of you even has battled with your pokemon yet. I did, because my father is at least compatible in raising a good heir.”
“I did battle with Hedwig before, so you are saying you want to battle me? Right here and now?” Harry tried to sound brave.
“Not here, first years aren’t allowed to battle. But I do know the trophy room is always open, what about tonight at ten, we will battle. And bring someone who has more than a week of battle knowledge with you, I hate to have to explain why you will be losing.” Malfoy left laughing.
Harry took Neville with him to Ash, Iris and May, where he told what happened. Ash was already brimming with the prospect of finally exploring and battling inside Hogwarts.
“Well, you could take Ash with you, but he is not the smartest with battling. We are also coming with you.” Iris decided for her and May.
So, with the plan made, Harry, Neville, Iris, May and Ash tried to sneak out of the common room, they were only followed in silence by Hermione Granger. She apparently overheard them talking about the plan and wanted to stop them. Without knowing that the Fat Lady was not even in her portrait, so she could not return. She kept following them until they were almost at the trophy room, where she confronted them.
“You do know that what you are doing is going to get you killed or even worse expelled.” Granger said.
“Well, we do not really care.” Ash said bluntly.
“How can you not care about that, it is your education you are talking about.” Granger’s voice became higher the more she talked.
“I’m kinda here against my will, what did you think I would say about that.” Ash shrugged and walked further.
Granger tried to turn back, but she bumped into Gary, Malfoy and a boy May could recognize. She introduced him as Brendan Burch, the son of the infamous professor.
“So, I see you took my advice and brought advisers with you. Which of those three are your main advisor?” Malfoy asked.
“I hope it’s not Ashy, who lost multiple times to me.” Gary said.
“Well, to be fair, May is able to help him, she is the daughter of a gym leader.” Brandon said.
“All three of them are here to advice me. Let’s go Mafloy.” Harry said with confidence which suddenly appeared. “Hedwig, let’s go.” Hedwig the Rowlett came out of her pokeball and stood ready.
“Snivy, stand ready.” Malfoy’s Snivy came out of their pokeball and made itself ready for battle. “Snivy, start with Vine Whip, following with Leaf Storm.”
“Hedwig, dodge and use peck.” Harry commanded.
Suddenly a black and white light came between Hedwig and Snivy. This light grew until each child was engulfed. When they were able to see again, they stood outside the gates of Hogwarts in the middle of the night. No one was around, except for two humongous Pokemon. One white and regal looking, the other yellow and devilish looking.
“Draconius Malfoy, you are my Chosen.” the white pokemon said. “As the Chosen of the Alpha Pokemon, you are able to connect with all types and be able to find every Chosen Child with more accuracy than anyone else. You have the ability Commander, which grants you the power to Command all pokemon as if they were your own. The only exception are those of other Chosen Children.”
“Uhh.” all present children exclaimed.
“Arceus, I think they don’t even know what you are talking about.” the devilish looking Pokemon said, in a surprisingly kind voice. “Hello, Harry. I’m so happy to see that you are still well and safe. Sorry that I couldn’t safe your parents too. I so hope that you remember me, but you were quite young when I safed you.”
This time not one of the children made any sound, especially those that had no connection to these two Legendary Pokemon. Suddenly they heard a loud shout coming from above.
“Wait, I’m almost there, don’t you two dare to say anything to her. She is mine and mine alone. I do not even share her with my brother. If either of you tell her anything, I will search for your items and lock them away in my pocket dimension. Oh and tell Ash I said hello, and I like to play on the swing with him again.”
Ash, who had way to much experience with pokemon that wanted to play with him, became as white as a sheet. He also tried to hide behind Gary for some reason, even if that wouldn’t help him. A red white pokemon suddenly came to a halt beside Granger.
“Hi Hermione, I’m Latias, one of the Eon Pokemon. You are my Chosen and I meant it when I said I do not like to share. Your ability is quite rare for my Chosen Children. It’s speed reading. But not normal speed reading, this type is also a battle ability, in that it’s able to even see the miniscule movement in a person or pokemon so you can predict where they are going. I hope you will sometimes join me in flying around the region. I like flying especially the flying races with my brother.” Latias said in a very fast speed.
Suddenly more Legendary Pokemon came to stand around the group of children. Groudon grabbed Brandon in a hug, Kyogre flew above May and began to shower her, Kyurem looked Iris over, Ho-oh was bathing Ash in fire, which he didn’t even notice. Mewtwo teleported next to the group and was slapping Gary for a reason.
“Uh, guys. Lady Mew will not be happy that amount of Legendary Pokemon are at the same place.” Giratina said. “Maybe we should relocate to a place where everyone can meet. I suggest the Distortion World.”
“I agree with Giratina, we must move quick. Their Headmaster already was able enslave Moltres and I do not want to see what he will do with us.” Arceus agreed.
Together they made a hole in reality big enough to get everyone through it. Harry was the last one to go in and he felt the difference. It felt as coming home for him, while the rest looked like they were trying not to squirm, in fear of offending the Lord of the Death.
