James smiled as he left the cafe. He had only gone to see Lily, but he’d completely forgotten about her the moment he laid eyes on the most beautiful man he’s ever seen. He hoped he hadn’t made too much of an embarrassment of himself. He sipped his tea as he walked to his flat a few blocks away.
When he got to the building he had already finished the tea and pain au chocolat. He was just about to throw the cup away when he noticed something on it. ‘Text me?’ was written on the cup and below that was a phone number and a smiley face. He smiled down at the cup before pulling out his phone and saving the number as Rex :).
As he walked in he could smell sausage being grilled. Remus must've gotten home early or maybe Peter was making himself dinner before he had to go to work. James took off his shoes at the door and walked into the flat.
“Honey, I’m home!” He stated to no one in particular.
“Prongs! You’ll never guess what!” Sirius yelled as soon as he saw the man, jumping into him.
“Pads,” James laughed, holding onto his best friend,”What happened?”
“I got the job!” Sirius screamed, jumping up and down.
“The job at father’s company?” He asked.
“Don’t put it like that, it makes it seem I didn’t earn it,” Sirius pouted, “Moony! Prongs is being mean to me!” A sigh was heard from the kitchen but no one spoke. James pushed Sirius off him and walked to join Remus. Said man was in the kitchen, an apron with the words ‘I’m one hot dog’ and a cartoon hot dog on, while he flipped some sausages in the pan.
“Hey Remmy, how was work today?” James asked, taking a seat at the island.
“It was good, neither Lily or Mary were there today though.” Remus replied.
“Oh strange,” James said quickly, snatching a sausage from the plate on the counter,” They weren’t at Griff’s either.”
“You went to Griff’s and didn’t get me a latte?” Remus pouted, turning the stovetop off.
“I was going to, but they could only serve tea. I guess there was only one worker there and he had already started cleaning.” James said, taking a bite of the meat.
“Apparently they had to go to Reading for something?” Remus says unsure.
“Reading? Why did they have to go to Reading?”
“Duh,”Sirius said as he entered, going straight to Remus, “They went on a date!”
“A date?” Remus asked, leaning against Sirius, “With who?”
“Eachother?” James asked.
“Yeah,” Remus laughed, “That’s impossible, If Mary were gay I think I’d know.”
“Okay Sherlock,” Sirius said, starting to walk away,”If you say so.”

It was almost midnight by the time James got settled down. He was about to fall asleep when he remembered he hadn’t texted Rex. So he rolled over and took his phone off the charge, opening up his messages.

James woke up at 7 am, checking his phone for any messages regarding his practice that morning. He quickly got up and headed towards his kitchen. Remus and Lily were already up chatting about some novel.
“Good morning Jamie!” Lily smiled at him. She handed him a mug from the cupboard.
“G’morning, “ He yawned, taking the mug from her hand and pouring himself some coffee. “So Lils, where were you last night? I went to the shop and you weren’t there.”
“Oh, um, Mary and I had to pick up some things from Reading, “ She replied, not looking at the boy.
“Sure, just to pick things up,” Sirius said as he walked into the kitchen and leaned against James.”You sure it wasn’t a date?”
“Guys, come on,” Remus finally spoke up,” Give the girl some space, even if we all know she’s been in love with Mary since 5th year.”
“Not you too Remmy!” She laughed, “It wasn’t a date, we were only there for work.”
“Whatever you say Evans.” James replied, finally pushing Sirius off him, “And you, I am not your boyfriend, don’t lean on me this early, I’ll throw you next time.”
“Moony, he’s being mean to me again,” Sirius just pouted before walking toward Remus and sitting in his lap.
“You two are both annoying,” Remus said, “I feel bad for Monty and Effie.” Lily just laughed at that before walking out the kitchen.
“Take that back! Our parents are a delight.” Sirius said.
“Oh I know,” Remus smiled, “I’m saying you guys aren’t”
“That’s just mean,”James said.
“Are you guys ready! I have a shift at 8!” They all hear Lily scream from the lounge. Peter just now running from his room into the kitchen, grabbing the first cup he sees and downing it. They hear him mumbling ‘shit, shit, shit’ under his breath as he runs back to his and a minute later emerges fully dressed and wide awake.
“Peter you are a wizard,” James laughs, “Give me 5 minutes!” He runs to his room, getting dressed and grabbing his sports bag. When he walks out his room he sees everyone else standing there, waiting for him.
“I swear you’re the slowest person we know,” Peter smiles at him,” How are you the captain of the rugby team?”
“Because I’m the best player,” James replies. The group finally leaving their flat. Lily dropping off Peter and Remus at the theatre building first.
“Do you guys have practice today?” She asks the two rugby players.
“Yes, but I was wondering if we could stop at Griff’s and then Pads and I can just walk to the field.” James answers.
“I mean I guess, but the field is a solid 15 kilometres away,” She says, before driving off toward the cafe.
