Chapter 2
I knew someone was up here!”
Oh, so he didn’t know who I was. I thought. Not gonna lie, I was a bit disappointed. He had the sweetest smile though. “So, what's your name, Mystery girl?”
“Finley,” I whispered. What does he mean by ‘Mystery girl.’
“Sorry? What was that?”
“Finley,” I said, a little louder this time.
“Ah, Finley, you're in my sister's year, right?”
How would he know that? I don't think I've ever spoken to Ginny. “Yes.”
“I knew it!” He sing-songed, “I’ve seen you around Hogwarts. But only every other month… why?”
I was so confused. Who pays that much attention to me, other than Keefe, who only knows what I tell him?
“Helloooo?” Fred brought me back to the present.
“Oh, sorry, I guess you just miss me.” I wasn't about to tell him I had powers others didn’t, and I had to go to a different school to master them.
“No, I wouldn’t have missed you. You just disappear for a month.”
“I don’t know what you mean,” I was starting to get stressed, no humans can know about the elvin world, and the way he was pressing, I don't know how I could get out of it. I always relied on blending into the background rather than lying, and I knew I was a horrible liar.
Thankfully, someone --George, by the sound of it-- called for Fred, and he is forced to leave me with… Buckbeak; I think is what he said was the Hippogriff's name.
I laid back against Buckbeak, and slowly unwind from the excitement of the day. The next thing I know, I hear some bustling and talking. I got out of bed, and walked down the stairs. There, I see all the Weasleys, Hermione, and Sirius. I just scoot by and head for the kitchen, listening to their conversation.
“But what if he doesn’t get off?” That was Hermione. I was sure.
“Come off it!” Fred and George. “He’ll get off, he has Dumbledore, right?”
“Well, yes, but still.”
“Hermione, if it makes you feel any better, he can come live with me if he doesn’t get off. He’ll be plenty happy, right?” Sirius, obviously.
That's when it hit me. Today must be Harry’s trial. It all made sense now.
