Awakening

Hey guys, I'm sorry I took so long again. I'm doing my best to write chapters but I've just been mentally dead and I have a lot of schoolwork for uni.

Saint Mungo's

Hari Potter opened her eyes to darkness. She blinked as her eyes adjusted to the light. Staring upwards, she watched the ceiling slowly come closer to being in focus in the faint light.

Her memories began to trickle back to her. She was in the atrium next to the fountain, she had fallen there.

No. No, that didn't seem right, this wasn't the ceiling in the atrium of the ministry. It was low, and white unlike the looming dark one of the atrium, and the floor seemed to be soft and warm, not cold and hard like the tiles there.

She wondered where she was, she didn't remember leaving, just falling.

She tried to move her body but everything felt numb. Everything felt drained, limp.

Then more of her memories hit her. Her heartbeat was in her throat. Sirius! Ron! The death eaters! She had to help them! Had that really happened? Where was she!? Her breath came quickly and tears began to blur her eyes.

She had to help! She had to help them! Maybe if she could get herself to move then she would see that Ron was breathing. She had to get to them! She needed to see if he was alright. She must of imagined it!  She had to have imagined it! She had to help them!

Her heart beat so quickly in her throat that she could barely breath.

She needed to move!

Just move, please!

Her body refused to move even an inch.

Just move, please! Please!

She had to help them!

She had to move, she had to help them!

But her body was numb and nothing moved. She fought her body, she had to move, she had to!

She felt her head shift a fraction to the left; more of the room came into view. The light on the white walls seemed to be sunlight.

She could see a sliver of what looked like a person, but not enough of them to really be sure.

She strained, trying to move her head, and finally, slowly and painfully the person came into vision.

It was Severus, he was slumped over, asleep in the chair beside her, she wondered how long he had been there, how long she had been here, wherever here was.

She was in a bed, seeming to be in a hospital of some kind. Beds down the length of a long ward, though the ones she could see were empty.

She needed to say something, anything, to let Severus know she was awake. After a while, she finally managed to make her mouth move.

#Hey,# She whispered, #Hey!# she tried again, disappointed, she was sure it had been in parcletongue.

So that had been real... how much had been real?

Tears blurred her vision as she tried to move the arm that was closest to him. She needed to know. How long had it been? What had been true? She struggled but slowly, slowly she managed to slide it across the sheets until it bumped his knee. He looked up at her sleepily.

She just watched him, unmoving, she had no choice.

He just stared at her, tears in his eyes, as if he didn't see her at all.

She managed to move her hand further, putting it on his knee and as she touched him again he seemed to realize he wasn't dreaming.

"Hari?" he asked,

#Hey# she hissed, knowing he couldn't understand her, but at least she could answer.

In an instant she was wrapped in his arms as he sprang forwards to hug her. She melted into him.

As he pulled away from her, hands on her shoulders, holding her up, she realized he was wearing muggle clothing.

"I-" he started but a healer appeared out of nowhere, bustling over. He looked anxious as he pulled the curtains hurriedly closed around them.

"Shhhhh!" the Healer said anxiously, "Keep it down!"

The Healer gently held a bottle to her lips and she drank it. It tasted terrible, but as it was finished, she felt a tingling in all her limbs as feeling returned to them ever so slowly.

She brought her weak tingling fingers to her face, wiping away the tears that were still on it.

"Are you feeling alright?" Severus said, "do you need anything? Can I get you anything?"

She looked at him, raising her shaking hands and asking a single question, 'are they dead?'

He immediately avoided looking at her face and that confirmed it. Her godfather and her friend were dead.

She choked back a sob, feeling like she was about to loose the contents of her stomach, what ever that was.

It was her fault! She fell for Voldemort's trick and now they were gone and she would never see them again.

She curled forwards into a ball, shaking, they were gone, they were really gone. It was her fault. All her fault. All her fault......

She felt the bed move and remembered that Severus was there.

She looked up at him, tears streaming down her face, heart in her throat, and the fell forwards into him, completely buried in his arms.

She hid from the world, not wanting to move or exist. She didn't want to be there, but she didn't have to think right now, she could just hide there. She was angry, so angry. She needed to do something, help someone.

Suddenly his arms were too tight, to constricting. She needed to get out! She needed to do something! She began to fight his arms, trying to get out, scratching and punching at him as he didn't let go, hissing angrily, screaming.

Something grabbed her by the back of the and she was dragged away from Severus.

#Wha-?#

She thrashed weakly around. She wanted to go back now, she was safe there. She hissed angrily, fighting the person that was forcing her away from Severus.

#Let me go!!# She hissed, #Let me go!! LET ME GO!!#

She turned, trying to claw at her attackers arms, hands, anything she could reach.

But a hand was tight on the back of her neck and potion was being pressed to her mouth, forced down her throat.

She coughed, spluttering, choking on it. She fought, pushing weakly at the healer, trying to breath, but failed to push the healer away. Her body slowly got weaker and weaker, and as the bottle was finished, her body went limp. She collapsed into Severus.

Everything was spinning. She stared upwards as the world shifted; she could see Severus's face. He seemed to be speaking angrily to the healer. She caught bits of phrases as he argued.

"How is ------------ Old Twat ----- stupid --------- why would---------- fine"

Then she was being lowered and placed back in the bed. The healer tucked the sheets back in around her methodically and then wheeled her from the room. Where was Severus!? What was happening!?

Then she could see the ceiling of a small room, and Severus was there again, talking to the healer.

After a moment Severus picked her up, holding her surprisingly easily. She was in an office of some kind, the only other people here were Severus and the healer.

She watched uncaringly, through the hair dangling in front of her face, head limp on Severus' shoulder,  as the healer waved his wand and Hari's body, or a copy of it, appeared in the bed she had been in. Then the healer wheeled the bed, and Hari 2.0 back out of the office, leaving the two of them alone.

Everything felt numb, her body, her mind, and her emotions. Nothing made sense, and nothing mattered.

She felt Severus's hand at her wrist and realized he was putting the combination into the Cassandra watch.

Then he shifted her weight in his arms and all she could see was his shoulder as her head rolled forwards.

She could feel him walking, each step jolting her slightly.

Nausea filled her as she felt the constrictive twisting feeling of apparition; her vision went black and she lost consciousness.
