Sirius
After eating, Remus got up and removed the pizza boxes
"sorry but I think I'll go to bed, this morning I had a 9 hour surgery"
"don't worry, goodnight Remus and thanks again"
Remus smiled at him and went into the bedroom, Sirius stayed for a few minutes on the sofa and then went to his room.
He lay down in bed hoping not to have nightmares, he hated falling asleep ever since he got home, he did nothing but dream of war, over and over.
He managed to sleep without too many nightmares and in the morning when he woke up, he felt strangely calm.
He went down to the kitchen where he saw Remus preparing breakfast.
"good morning"
"oh good morning Sirius, you have slept well? "
Sirius nodded and sat down across from him accepting the coffee Remus was handing him.
"it's raining today, I don't think it's a good idea to go out"
Sirius looked out the window, it was pouring rain, and in all honesty he didn't mind staying at home.
"no problem"
They ate breakfast in silence and then moved to the sofa
"okay, we have nothing to do, moment questions, why did you enlisted in the army?"
Sirius looked at Remus for a moment in silence
"no heroic reason, I was running away from my family. My parents were violent with my brother and me, he stayed and went to college, I ran away and enlisted "
Remus listened silently
"I still think you're a hero"
"we think differently, I didn't save the most important person, my brother"
"maybe it wasn't you who had to do it"
Sirius was silent for a moment and then looked up at him
"and you? How did you become a doctor?"
Remus moves to another cup of coffee
"no heroic reason"
Sirius laughed slightly and motioned for him to continue
"I had an accident when I was 15, I remember that I was pretty badly reduced, the doctors who had taken care of me did everything to save me,one day I asked one of them why he was doing that job and he replied that saving the lives of others saved his own. and here I am "
"it seems very heroic to me, you want to save others"
"I wanted to save myself"
"from what?"
"I don't know, from everything I guess"
Remus finished his coffee and smiled at him
"now, what do we do?"
"what do you usually do?"
"I read, but I don't think you like it"
Sirius shook his head laughing
"No, I do not like it"
Remus laughed and then looked out the window
"it's stopped raining, shall we go out?"
"yes, sure it's fine"
After getting ready they left the house and they got into the car
"where do we go?"
"shopping center?"
Sirius shrugged, he wasn't who knows how much a shopping fan but he had no other ideas
"yes it's fine"
On the way neither of them spoke, they listened to the music and Sirius looked out the window
When they arrived at the mall, Remus parked the car and then together they went inside.
They walked close, looking at the shops, Remus suddenly walked into the bookstore leaving Sirius outside.
While he waited, he suddenly heard the burst of a balloon which, however, reminded him of the sound of a shot.
Sirius began to tremble, images of the war appeared before him, he was in total panic.
When Remus came out of the bookcase he saw him sitting on the ground struggling to breathe, someone next to him was trying to help him but Sirius was pushing everyone away.
When he heard Remus' voice he looked up trying to calm down.
"Sirius it's okay, you're at home, you're not down there anymore .. look at me and breathe with me mh?"
Sirius looked at him breathing with him, slowly he managed to calm down and stopped shaking, Remus took his hand and helped him to get up
"excuse me.."
"hey no, Sirius doesn't matter, it's not your fault, don't worry. The rehabilitation center called me, a place has become available, let's go get your things and then we'll go there, okay? "
She didn't want to leave Remus' house, she was fine with him. But he also knew he needed help so he nodded and smiled
"sure it's fine"
All the way back, Sirius felt his head full of thoughts, he was really about to start his life again, or at least he was trying.
He didn't like the life he had before he joined the army at all, his family was horrible. His mother drank, and beat him, his father kept telling him that it was just a disappointment.
He had his brother and he got along very well with him at first, but then Regulus had become too much like his parents and Sirius had drifted away, until he left home.
Once he got his things Remus accompanied him to the rehabilitation center, the building was slightly out of town, there was a large garden and Sirius also noticed a swimming pool.
A boy came up to him and smiled at him
"Hi, I'm Evan. Nice to have you here"
He shook his hand and then walked him inside explaining how it worked. At 8 there was breakfast, they had free time until 11 and then an hour of group therapy until lunch.
From 15 to 18 they had the opportunity to take courses, to talk to a psychologist or they could go out but never alone, because as the doctors who worked there believed, the best thing for them at this particular time was to be in company.
Sirius listened to everything, the place didn't look bad and he couldn't stay with Remus forever, so he would stick to the schedule.
Evan showed him his room and then told him to go and sign the paper in which he accepted the therapy, when he arrived in front of the desk he froze. Standing there in front of him was his brother.
"Regulus?"
He looked up from the computer and his eyes widened
"Sirius? What ... what are you doing here? "
"I'm here for ... well to make my life back"
"what did you do to your face?"
"a bomb. What are you doing here?"
Regulus walked over to him and looked at him for a moment
"after you left I made up my mind to tell mum that I wasn't going to study law, I enrolled in psychology and now I work here"
Sirius remained silent, looked at Remus who had remained on the sidelines and thought that maybe, it was all becoming too embarrassing.
Remus, who literally saved his life and who was his doctor, smiled at Regulus the way you definitely don't smile at someone you don't even know.
"Do you know each other?"
"huh? ah- yes ... Regulus was my roommate, that is, not just the one in reality "
"was he your boyfriend? "
Regulus laughed and walked back behind the desk and Sirius was really starting to be afraid of the answer
"no reg wasn't my boyfriend, he's my best friend "
Sirius wasn't very pleased with the answer, but he didn't say anything. After signing all the papers he went to his room and put his things away, Remus behind him was leaning against the door and smiling at him.
"will you be okay here?"
Sirius nodded and smiled
"yes of course, thanks for everything you did"
"you don't have to thank me, I left my number on your desk you can call whenever you want "
After a few minutes he left and Sirius was left alone, he would live there, with his brother beside him and everything to start a new life. It didn't seem like a really good idea but it was his only option. The only thing that strangely consoled him was the possibility of seeing remus soon
