Hogwarts

“Hey Hagrid!” Harry called. “Hey Harry! And you must be Sapphire!” the man who they know to be Hagrid said, nodding toward Ginny. “Oh! Oh- no I’m not Sapphire. I’m Ginny, Ginny Weasley, she’s Sapphire” Ginny laughed, gesturing toward Sapphire. “I’m sorry girls, ye look like ye could’a been twins” “Not the first time we’ve heard that, is it Ginny?” Sapphire laughed, not surprised that Hagrid had gotten them mixed up. “Alrig’ five in a boat, one person rowing” Harry, Ron, Sapphire, Ginny and Luna all clambered into a boat and before she had a chance to say anything, the group chose Sapphire to row, as they all didn’t want to. Sapphire didn’t mind and just laughed. Luna sat down on one side of her, Ginny on the other. When Hagrid gave them the go-ahead, Sapphire started rowing the boat. She started to get quite nervous about going to Hogwarts. She knew that she’d probably attract quite a bit of attention when she started Hogwarts, and that’s not what she was really worried about. She was worried that no one would want to be her friend because of this. She sort of zoned out and got lost in her thoughts. She quickly got pulled back to reality when Luna said “Sapphire? You haven’t spoken in ten minutes, are you alright?” “It’s been ten minutes already? I really didn’t think it’s been that long. I guess I’m a bit nervous about starting Hogwarts” Luna must have the ability to read minds or something, because she said “You’re nervous you won’t make friends, aren’t you? You’re Sapphire Potter, the girl who lived, people will be queuing up to be friends with you. And worst case scenario, they don’t, you have your siblings, and if you want, we can be friends? Only if you want, of course” Sapphire smiled bigger than she ever had before. “I’d love to be friends! I’ve never made a friend before” she answered. Luna smiled back “Me neither, everyone says that I’m weird. They call me Loony Lovegood” “At the orphanage they used call me weird too. They called me Blue and Carrot top. Stupid stuff” Both girls went silent again, but it wasn’t uncomfortable, it seemed normal. “Sapphire? Did anyone tell you about the houses?”Ginny asked. “No, what are they?”Sapphire answered. “They’re Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. Whatever you do, stay away from Slytherin. Almost all the dark witches and wizards came from Slytherin. Our whole family’s been in Gryffindor” “Just when we turn the corner we’ll see the castle” All the children started shouting at their leader to row faster and when Sapphire was told that she said “Alright alright! I want to see the castle as much as you do!” laughing as she said it. When Sapphire managed to get them round the corner, she, along with everyone else, was mesmerised by what she saw. A giant castle, towers and turrets everywhere. She had never seen something so huge. “Oh my goodness” was all she could say, as she couldn’t think of anything else to describe what she thinks of the castle. Before they know it, the boat is being pulled out of the water by Hagrid and Harry, Ron, Luna, Ginny and Sapphire are clamouring out of the boat. “I can’t believe that we’re actually here. It feels like just yesterday when I was seven, and I showed my first signs of magic, Daddy says I started really late, and I was told about Hogwarts, and now I’m here!” Luna said, looking around the area. Before anyone gets a chance to answer her, Hagrid calls “Alrigh’ kids. Follow me into the Great Hall if ya will” When they reach the Great Hall, all of the other students were already in the hall. Sapphire already saw so many people pointing and staring at her. She tried to ignore it as she knew this would happen, but the more people who stared at her, the harder it got to do so. “Ok first year students, you will be called up one by one to place the sorting hat upon your head. When you do so, it will read your thought and decide what house you’re best suited for. The sorting hat will sing a song to explain the traits of each of the houses” Professor McGonagall called, just as Saphire noticed what looked like a raggedy old hat sitting on a stool at the top of the hall. The sorting hat sang
“Oh you may not think I'm pretty.
But don't judge on what you see,
I'll eat myself if you can find
A smarter hat than me.
You can keep your bowlers black,
Your top hats sleek and tall,
For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat
And I can cap them all.
There's nothing hidden in your head
The Sorting Hat can't see,
So try me on and I will tell you
Where you ought to be.
You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve, and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart;
You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true
And unafraid of toil;
Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
if you've a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind;
Or perhaps in Slytherin
You'll make your real friends,
Those cunning folks use any means
To achieve their ends.
So put me on! Don't be afraid!
And don't get in a flap!
You're in safe hands (though I have none)
For I'm a Thinking Cap!
Everybody clapped and Professor McGonagall called out the first name on her list. Surprisingly that name was “Potter, Sapphire”. Sapphire stepped forward and all the thoughts that filled her mind had one root thought. “Not Slytherin”. When she sat on the stool, the sorting hat immediately said “Not Slytherin eh? Are you sure? Alright then. Very difficult, very very difficult” This statement did not help Sapphire’s nerves one little bit. “Very brave yes, but very loyal. Very hard working, but very courageous” After six minutes of debating, the Sorting Hat cried “Better be… HUFFLEPUFF” The entire Hufflepuff table cheered when Sapphire took off the hat and sat down next to a boy who looked to be in about his third year. After Sapphire introduced herself to him, he said “I’m Cedric, Cedric Diggory” The moment Sapphire saw him, she took a liking to the boy. He had dark brown, slightly wavy hair, dark brown eyes and his smile could light up a room. She smiled and hoped that she wasn’t blushing. When her siblings and Luna were called up, Sapphire hoped that they’d be in the same house. Sadly, her siblings were put into Gryffindor and Luna was put into Ravenclaw. She was happy for them, but was slightly disappointed that they weren’t in the same house. All throughout dinner, kids from all of the houses were pointing at, and whispered about Sapphire. She tried to act like it didn’t bother her, but it did. Cedric was able to tell that she was bothered by it, so he said “Stop pointing at her! She’s a girl, not a museum exhibit! Leave her alone” and then he added to Sapphire “Ignore them, it’ll die down soon, if they start bothering you again, come to straight to me, Alright?” “Yeah, yeah I’ll be sure to remember to do that” By the time dessert came, Sapphire was huge feelings for Cedric, she had never had a crush on anyone before. She liked the feeling of it, it felt like nothing else matters in the world, only that person. “Prefects, lead the rest of your house to the dormitories” Dumbledore said at the end of dinner. Sapphire walked to the dorms with Cedric, who had already told three fourth-years to stop pointing at Sapphire since dinner ended. Sapphire knew she’d attract attention but this was not what she was expecting. Like, at all! When Sapphire walked into her dorm room, she meets a few other girls, she starts to talk to two girls named Susan Bones and Hannah Abbot. “So, what are you thinking of Hogwarts so far?” Susan asked. “I like it, it’s a bit odd being away from home, but it’s nice here” Sapphire answered while hunting in her extremely messily packed trunk for a nightgown. “Yeah, I kinda miss my family but most people here are nice” Hannah said, smiling. “Alright lights out girls!” a prefect said from the doorway. Sapphire was glad of this, as she was exhausted from her extremely busy day. Almost immediately after she got into her four poster bed, she fell asleep.
