Letters

Over the next couple of weeks, Sapphire was introduced to Quidditch, a wizarding sport played on broomsticks, which was TERRIFYING to Sapphire at the beginning, but she got used to it. Ginny swears that if Sapphire was a witch, she could play Quidditch on the Hogwarts (The wizarding school) Quidditch team. Sapphire wishes so badly that she could do magic. Over the time that the siblings spent together, Sapphire bonded with Ginny the most and Ginny felt the same way towards Sapphire, with being the only other girl and being the exact same age. Ginny told Sapphire, “It was horrible being the only girl here, especially when Bill and Charlie lived at home” Sapphire was confused about who Bill and Charlie were and clearly looked it. “Oh were you never told about Bill and Charlie? There our older brothers, Bill lives in Egypt with Gringgots, the wizarding bank and Charlie works with dragons in Romania. I miss them sometimes, but I know they’re coming home soon. Actually, they’re coming home next week, to meet you! I’m surprised no one told you about them” Ginny explained. “Oh I’m excited to meet them. Actually come to think of it, they mentioned at the orphanage that there was seven children, but I honestly forgot.” Sapphire laughed. “Ok, we should go down for breakfast, I’m starving!” said Sapphire, who had just realised that it was eleven o clock in the morning. Sapphire and Ginny walked downstairs just and their mum called to them “Girls can you get the post for me?” “Yeah Mum” both girls said at the same time. “Oh! It’s the Hogwarts letters!” Sapphire exclaimed. “Oh Merlins pants!” Ginny screamed. “There’s two owls, I’ll get this one you get that one Sapphire said, starting to untie the clump of letters from the owls leg. “Fred, George” she muttered under her breath, sorting through the letters. All of a sudden she cries “OH MY GOD I-I-I-I’M A WITCH!” “WHAT?!” Ginny cries, a look of pure shock on her face. “You got a letter?” “Yeah, yeah I did” Sapphire said, purely in shock. “It looks thicker than mine, open it! Ginny said, staring at the letter. The girls walk in to the kitchen, where their mother is. “Oh good the Hogwarts letters came in, they’re late this year,”Sapphire hands her the clump of letters in her hands but keeps her own, then she asks “Mum, is it possible to gain magical abilities through being adopted by a magical family?” “I’m afraid not dear, I’m sorry” she replies. “Well, I guess I came from a magic family then” Sapphire said, still staring at the letter in her hand. The whole room goes silent. It is only now she notices that all her brothers are in the room as well, she had been so distracted that she didn’t realise the amount of noise in the room until it stopped. “What, dear?” asked her mother, expecting that she misheard her daughter. “I got a letter!” Sapphire said happily. There is an uproar in the kitchen as all her brothers get up to congratulate her, Ginny and Ron. “Oh my goodness, I didn’t think you were magic, well that’s amazing, go on and open them!” Sapphire, Ginny and Ron all open their letters with shaking hands. The three children read their letters and then look at each other. “We’re going to Hogwarts!” they all cry and jump up and down in excitement. Just as Sapphire goes to throw away the envelope, she realises that there is a second letter in the envelope. She got the book and supply list in another envelope, so it can’t possibly be that that. She calls Ginny over to have a look at the other letter. She reads aloud “Dear Miss Sapphire Weasley/McKinnginton “Was that your name before adoption?” Ginny asked. Sapphire realised that she never shared this information. “Yeah, yeah it was” “Ok back to the letter” Sapphire continued to read “You may or may not have heard of Sapphire Potter, the girl who lived. If you have ever seen a picture of her, you would realise you look very similar to her. The reason for this being that you and her and the same person. You were rescued from the hands of Lord Voldemort, the evil wizard who killed your parents. Everyone in the world fears to say his name, saying You know who is a better idea. He met his downfall in you that night. When he tried to kill you it only knocked you unconscious, but it killed him. Your memory was modified, that being the reason you don’t remember this. When you rejoin the wizarding world, further than your family, you will be very famous. I can confirm that you have a brother named Harry, I am unable to tell you details in fear that they turn out to be incorrectly sourced or incorrect but I can tell you that you will meet him within the next few years. I thought you should know all this information about yourself before you start school. Yours sincerely, Professor Minerva McGonagal”
Ginny and Sapphire just stared at eachother “What?” They said in unison. Both girls had heard of Sapphire Potter and had noticed the resemblance between her and Sapphire, but they didn’t think anything of it. Everything makes sense now. After a minute of silence Ginny asked “Wait! Do you have the scar? On your forehead?” Sapphire lifted up her fringe to reveal the lightning shaped scar on her forehead. Then Ginny asked “Are you gonna tell mum?” “No, not yet, I need to figure out how” “That’s ok, if it was me, I’d be the same.” Ginny said. “Can we not talk about it? Sapphire asked. “Yeah, that’s ok” Ginny said, and gave Sapphire a hug and for the first time, Sapphire felt like someone genuinely cared about her. Not like they were obligated to. But they genuinely cared.
