Orphanage
“Come with us, and your brother will be left untouched, come with us, and we will not kill him” threatened the mysterious man who had barged into their house and killed their parents. Sapphire knew who it was, while Harry did not, and given so, was terrified and confused. “SAPPHIRE DON’T DO IT!!!” Harry screamed at the top of his lungs, willing to die for his twin sisters sake. “I’m so sorry Harry, I’m not going to let you die, your my twin. Goodbye Harry, I’ll miss you.” She sounded like she was at least 17, yet she was only four. As she steps out, the mysterious man casts a spell on her, something like Abada kerdava or something like that and she slowly starts to lose consciousness. All she remembers after this is two men just appearing out of nowhere one rather old and the other very large, she might have been yelling or crying or screaming but she doesn’t remember, all she remembers is the larger of the two catching her, just when she loses consciousness completely, then waking up on a flying car? No. She must have been dreaming, that’s what she thought just before the fell asleep again. “Obliviate” says the older man. “Dumbledore” says the larger of the two “Are you sure that is the right idea?” The older man, Dumbledore replies with “She does not need to remember these events until she is older. Even if I thought I made the wrong decision, it is too late now, but I believe there is no such thing as a bad or wrong decision, just a setback in success.” Next time she woke up it was in an orphanage, with about 100 children, whom she did not know. She woke up there, in the same bed every morning until… “Happy Birthday Sapphire!” says the orphanage leader, Elaine as Sapphire walked into the kitchen on the morning of her eleventh birthday. “I can’t believe you are eleven!” “Thanks Elaine.” She says, still half asleep. “Of course you will still get your regular present from all of us here, I have an extra special present for you.” She thought Elaine meant a cake after dinner, or extra chips at dinner, so she said “Wow, thanks Elaine” still not woken up completely. What Elaine actually said woke her up immediately. “You’re getting adopted!!!” Elaine said excitedly. “It’s a couple named Molly and Arthur Weasley, they have seven kids already so you’ll have one sister and six brothers.” “OH… MY… GOD!!! I can’t believe this, I’ve spent seven years in this stupid place and I can finally get out!” She shrieked. “No offence” she added to Elaine. “None taken” Elaine laughed. That’s when all the other kids come into the kitchen for breakfast. “I want an egg and bacon roll, now!” snapped Maisie, on of the many girls who bully Sapphire. They say she is ugly, the call her names such as carrot top, Blue and more. They make fun of the lightning shaped scar of her forehead. They call her weird. Sapphire thinks she is weird too, she can make stuff happen, like she can make flower petals dance just using her eyes, she can push the little kids on the swing from the other end of the playground using just her eyes, she can turn on and off lights just by looking at them, and, she discovered on a summer trip to the zoo, that she can speak to and understand snakes. “Sorry Maisie, no bacon today, we’re all out, is toast ok?” said Elaine. “I’ll have pancakes then.” Maisie says, annoyed. “Maisie, you know that pancakes are only for special occasions! Why do you even bother asking anymore?” said Elaine exasperatedly. “Well SHE has them so I thought I should get them too.” Maisie explained. “Well it’s Sapphire’s birthday today, so she is allowed pancakes.” “WELL THAT’S NOT FAIR!” “Maisie, you will get pancakes in your birthday, so Sapphire gets pancakes on hers! Now here’s your orange juice and toast.” Elaine said sternly. “I’m going to go sit next to Kylie” said Maisie, rolling her eyes. As Maisie walks toward Kylie, she gets an idea. When she reaches Sapphire, she throws her orange juice at her, getting it all over Sapphire’s pyjamas and her pancakes. “I SAW THAT MAISIE!!!” Elaine yelled “GO TO YOUR ROOM AND NO TV FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK!” It being Tuesday, it seemed a fitting punishment. After eating her replacement pancakes, Sapphire has to wait eight whole hours until she can leave the orphanage and hopefully never see Maisie again! In all the years she had been at the orphanage, she never had gotten fostered, let alone adopted!! She packs up all of her stuff, granted, it wasn’t much, but didn’t pack away the photo of her parents yet. She knew her mother was pregnant when the photo was taken, but what if it wasn’t with just her? Sapphire’s had seen a pregnant woman before, and her mother’s stomach seemed lots larger than that. Maybe she had a twin brother or sister! She tried to put the thought out of her mind and puts on her best jeans, her favourite jumper (Knitted, Sapphire Blue) and ties her long thick dark red hair into a messy bun and brushed out her fringe. She puts on her birthday present from last year, black converse, her birthday present from this year, a beautiful charm bracelet and her adoption gift, a gold necklace, a charm for every year she had been at the orphanage. She read her favourite book three times, had lunch and read it three more times until… “Sapphire! They’re here!” Called Elaine up the stairs. “Coming!” she called back. She puts her book and the photo of her her parents in her bag and zips it up. Sapphire bolted down the stairs, bag in hand and suddenly got really nervous, “What if they don’t like me?” “What if it doesn’t work out?” she thinks. She walks into the adoption room to meet her new parents. “Hi!” She said to her new parents. “Hi Sapphire, we are so excited to welcome you into our family.” Says the woman, who she knows to be Molly, her husband nodding as she speaks. Half an hour later, all adoption forms signed, she leaves the orphanage with her new parents. She goes to get in their car, but there is no car. Then the man she knows as Arthur says “We need to talk to you.” “Oh no” she thought.
