When Regulus steps through the entrance, it reveals an open space with stain-glass windows stretching floor to ceiling on either side of an extensive burning hearth. Upon the mantle is what looks to be a live tree and vines creeping up the wall. Plants were hanging from the high ceilings, candles floating in the air. In front of the hearth are three couches, all a deep shade of olive green.
Regulus gasps softly and turns to Harry. Harry had moved to sit on the rug that covered most of the sitting area with its thick wool.
He grabs his knees and grins, turning to Neville, "This room always looks bloody brilliant, Neville."
Neville flushes and turns back to a plant with narrow tufted radical leaves and an elongated stem bearing a handsome spike of white or yellow flowers. Asphodelus, or Asphodel, Regulus thinks, looking at it appraisingly. It was larger than most indoor Asphodel plants he'd seen. It seemed to almost reach for Neville as the boy inspected the plant. As Regulus turned, he saw that most of the plants in the room seemed to stretch towards Neville like he was the sun. He raised an eyebrow and looked back at Harry, who grinned.
"Nev's always been wicked with plants."
Regulus nods and goes to sit on the only singular chair in the room. It was not uncomfortable with its deep maroon fabric that enveloped him in almost a hug. But it was obvious that it was to be separate, alone, in this room that screamed comfort. That it was letting him know he wasn't a part of this group, just allowed in for now.
The rest of the group was now sitting on the couches. Neville sat beside the girl with long red hair. She sat, staring at Regulus with a look of guarded disdain. She reminded him of Lily. On his other side was a willowy girl with long blonde hair. She stared at him with a smile that startled him. He'd only seen that smile from one person before, Pandora.
On another couch was a redheaded boy and the bushy-haired girl, Hermione. The redhead scrutinized him but seemed guarded, not unlike the redhead by Neville. He quickly glanced between them, cousins maybe.
Regulus adjusts in his chair and gazes down at Harry. The boy seemed comfortable there. He wasn't facing him like the others were, seemingly comfortable facing away from the elephant in the room. He gets jolted from his thoughts when the door opens. Harry lifts a hand to ease Regulus from fleeing the seat. Regulus relaxed slightly at the fact Harry was expecting company.
Three figures strode into the room, and the air stilted when the first group saw the trio. There were two boys and a girl. The first boy was tall, pale, and had nearly white blonde hair. He held an air of sureness and arrogance that spoke measures, pureblood. The next boy had coffee-brown skin and dark eyes that almost flashed red when he turned. He held himself with a confidence that spoke of years of training. Like he knew he was the most dangerous thing in the room. The girl was almost as pale as the first boy. She had dark shoulder-length hair. Her nose turned up like she smelled something putrid. Sneering at the others in the room like she was disgusted to be there, another pureblood, more than likely.
Harry raised to meet them, and the air crackled. Regulus could almost taste the magic emitting from Harry. The blonde boy nodded at Harry and went to sit on the only empty couch. Regulus would've pinned, at first, the blonde boy as the leader. But it was the dangerous air around the second boy that gave Regulus a pause. The girl sat beside the blonde boy and looked at Regulus with confusion. Regulus looked back at the two boys crackling with magic.
Harry stepped forward, "Blaise, thank you for joining us." Blaise briefly cast a look towards Regulus.
"I'm assuming this call is not social," Blaise says with a sly smirk, reaching his hand out towards Harry.
Harry grins back, clasping hands with Blaise. The room instantly relaxes into the couches. Regulus eyes Harry, realizing that was to appease the green-eyed boy. Blaise's muddy maroon eyes snap to focus on Regulus. Harry takes his place beside Regulus on the rug, while Blaise sits beside the others.
Regulus would have assumed that Harry was placing himself below everyone, something he tried to talk Kreacher out of many times around Regulus. But Harry didn't seem to be putting himself beneath them. If anything, he seemed to be almost threatening in his placement. Somehow. Harry looked up at Regulus for him to start. Regulus looks around and sees every eye in the room on him.
"You're a Black," the blonde boy says.
The room whips its heads towards the boy.
Draco straightens and shrugs, "He is. He has the eyes, the cheek bones, the hair. He could easily be related to Mother and her family."
Harry snorts, "I didn't think you, out of all people, would've figured that out."
Making an affronted face, Draco opens his mouth. Blaise flashes him a look. Draco promptly snaps his jaw shut. Harry smirks at the interaction and motions for Regulus to start.
Regulus sighs, "Well, he's not wrong."
Regulus tilts his head, eyeing Draco, "Cissy is my cousin. I am a Black. To be more clear, I'm Regulus Arcturus Black."
Draco's jaw makes an audible sound when it pops open. Most of the room seems confused, besides Neville and Blaise. Blaise nods like it fits the puzzle in his head, while Neville seems more surprised like Draco. Though the blonde girl just smiled as if she knew already.
Harry snickers, "Are all Blacks seriously this dramatic?"
Regulus rolls his eyes, "I went into a cave in 1979 and came out to find James Potter's son. I can be as dramatic as Sirius if I so please."
A soft dreamy voice filters through the room.
"Regulus, I've been waiting to meet you. Mother told so many fantastic stories. My favorite was always the transfiguration fumble. It pleases me that you came on time. I thought, undoubtedly, it was on the birth of the dragon. But, a week too late, oh well. Still before the fall of the King."
Most of the others stared, but Harry and Neville smiled brightly. Regulus gaped at the blonde girl, "Your mother, Pandora?"
She smiled brightly and stood crossing the rug to Regulus. Grabbing his hands, she says, "Yes, little Leo, my mother wished she could be here to greet you. But she knew her days weren't long enough to see you. Don't worry. She knew what you wanted to say."
Regulus looks at her, eyes glossy. "God, I fucking hate seers sometimes," He whispers.
She laughs, "Oh, didn't she know it? I'm Luna Lovegood."
Regulus snorts, "Of course, Lovegood."
Luna smiles brightly, "Oh Leo, you're funny. I'll sit by you for now."
Luna sits on the arm of the chair, swinging her feet. On her feet are two different shoes. Regulus looks up and sees the room staring back. The whole room seems to relax after Luna and his conversation.
The redhead boy clears his throat, "Well, if Luna knows you, then no harm. I'm Ronald Weasley."
Hermione says, "Hermione Granger."
The redhead girl says, "I'm Ginny Weasley. I didn't realize you were this Leo guy."
Regulus smirks, so they were related, siblings.
Neville speaks up, "Neville Longbottom. My grams had talked about you, Augusta Longbottom nee Black."
Nodding, everyone had forgotten Neville was related to the Blacks. Regulus smirked. He remembered the headstrong mother of Frank Longbottom. She was the sister of his grandfather, Arcturus Black. She had strong-armed her father into letting her marry the Longbottom heir. She was a scoundrel and his second favorite relative, behind Cissy. He would bet Neville, even as meek as he seemed to appear, would be just as dangerous as his relatives.
The blonde boy cleared his throat, "I didn't know we were related, Longbottom."
Neville rolled his eyes.
Draco continued, "Well, you already guessed my mother, Narcissa. I'm Draco Malfoy, son of Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy."
The girl beside him snorts, "Arrogant prat. Pansy Parkinson."
Blaise nods, "Blaise Zabini."
Regulus raises a brow, "Like the Contessa Zabini?"
"The one," Blaise says, smirking.
Regulus tilts his head, "I didn't know she ever wanted children."
Blaise only smiles conspiratorially and nods at Harry. Harry rolls his eyes at Blaise.
"Hi, I'm Harry bloody Potter. So let's get this show started already."
