Chapter 14

The child made from magic

Harry Potter was sitting in a compartment on the Hogwarts express. A month ago he had learned he was a wizard and was now on his way to Hogwarts where he would learn how to use his magic. Hagrid had filled him in. But what Harry didn’t tell Hagrid, not that he could even if he wanted to, was he already knew how to do magic. He used it often and could do it quite easily.

From an early age Harry found he could do things which seemed impossible. When the Dursley’s did not want to give him anything to eat, Harry was able to make food come to him when he was locked in the cupboard. He also learned how to unlock the cupboard which allowed him to use the toilet. The Dursley’s would sometimes lock him up knowing he would need to use the toilet yet they would not allow him out, so if he made a mess, which he did when he was young. That gave the Dursley’s more excuses to punish him. They ended up disappointed when they found out that Harry didn’t have an accident, so they would work on other ways to punish him. When they saw Harry do things that should not be possible, Petunia knew what it meant. Harry was magical, just like Lily and her husband. Petunia wasn’t sure if she could get her husband and son to understand that hurting Harry or upsetting him could be dangerous.

One thing that did surprise Harry about this special power he had. After one horrible beating from his uncle, the power fixed him but Harry had been so shocked and angry at what had happened that he somehow used his power to make the Dursley’s leave him alone. From that moment on, it was like he didn’t exist in the Dursley’s house. There was food always left for him, so Harry knew the Dursley’s knew he was there, they just seemed to forget about him. It was from that moment Harry was able to do things he always wanted. One was reading, Harry loved to read. He first took books from Dudley’s second bedroom. Those books had never been touched so Harry figured he could put them to good use.

While he was exchanging one of the books for another, Harry thought about this room. Within the hour Harry now had a proper bedroom and all Dudley’s old and broken toys were gone. Harry used his special power to fix things like the bed, wardrobe and desk. The next time Harry went to school he made sure he borrowed some books from the school library. He had only ever borrowed one school book before, Dudley ended up destroying it and then blamed Harry. Now he knew the books would be okay, so he didn’t have to worry that they would be destroyed. After school he walked to the public library. Since he didn’t have to hurry back to the house now that the Dursley’s didn’t make him work, he decided to take his time. He got himself a library card then spent time going from shelf to shelf, looking at what books he might want to borrow. That had been part of his life now over the last few years.

When Hagrid explained about the magical world, then took him to Diagon alley, Harry found he had money. The goblin, Griphook, told him that he could only access his trust vault. When he turned seventeen, which was an adult in the wizarding world, then he would be allowed to access the Potter family vault.

While in Diagon alley, Hagrid took him to the trunk shop first. Since he had a lot to buy, he needed somewhere to keep all his school things. At first the man was going to give him a normal basic trunk. Harry wrote down that since he was so small he wouldn’t be able to carry it and had no one to help him, so was there something that could help, like wheels. The man who read Harry’s note, was wondering why the boy didn’t speak. Finally he just showed Harry one trunk that had charms built into it. First was a feather light charm, which made the trunk light as a feather no matter how much was in it. The other charm was a space expansion charm, so Harry could make the inside of the trunk ten times bigger. The last charm was a shrinking charm, which allowed Harry to put it in his pocket instead of carrying it. Even though it would be light, Harry liked the idea he could keep his things on him.

A few times Hagrid would try to get Harry to speak, but he always wrote what he needed to say in the little notebook he always kept on him. Hagrid had no idea why, but figured it was just the way Harry was raised. Once they left the shop, Harry got his wand. It was after that when Harry really started to buy things. He got robes, but he also bought a lot of other clothes, trousers, shirts, socks, underwear, he even got some shoes and some heavy duty boots for the colder months along with a thick cloak. He bought everything he needed for potions, he bought things like quills, ink and parchment before he finally got to the shop he was anxious to get to. The book shop. Harry spent hours looking through books and buying so many that he may need to buy a second trunk. Now he knew how to get to Diagon alley, he figured he would make another trip in a few days. Hagrid seemed to be in a hurry. So after buying Harry a birthday present, a white owl Harry named Hedwig, they finally headed back to Surrey.

While Harry was waiting to start at Hogwarts, he had ended up reading every book he bought. Even though he had a wand, he knew he couldn’t use it since it was illegal to use magic outside of Hogwarts. What no one knew was Harry could use magic without a wand. Sometimes he would just think of something and it happened, other times he would move his hand and magic happened. So, while he waited to begin at Hogwarts, Harry practiced the spells and the ministry would never know. He found them easy to do and always did them first try. He didn’t use the movements the books said, he just used his normal movement of pointing at something and wishing what he wanted to do and it did it. He studied his potions books and set up his cauldron in the basement of the Dursley’s house. He made a few easy ones to begin with, then moved on to ones that might help. He especially liked the one called pepper up potion, it was good if you were over tired or had a cold.

Now he was on the Hogwarts express, reading as he waited for it to start moving. Out of the corner of his eye he noticed the door open a few times, but never looked up from his book, he just kept reading. It always got awkward when people tried to have a conversation with him, so he just kept himself occupied by reading.

Ron Weasley saw only one person in the compartment, so he opened the door, ‘Do you mind if I sit here?’ He said as he stared at the dark haired boy. The boy didn’t answer, ‘Did you hear me?’ Again the boy didn’t answer, just kept reading. Ron figured since the boy didn’t say no, he would join him. Maybe he could get the boy talking. Maybe about quidditch. All boys liked quidditch.

Ron ended up frustrated. No matter what he said, the dark haired boy ignored him and just kept reading. The only time the boy moved was when the lady of the cart opened the door to see if they wanted anything. Ron got embarrassed when he said he was fine, he had sandwiches. The dark haired boy got up and bought a heap of things, pumpkin pasties, juice and lot’s of chocolate. He saw Ron, gave a small wave then he sat down and went back to reading, even though he was eating.

When a boy opened the door to ask about a toad, only Ron answered, not the dark haired boy.
Not long after the boy looking for the toad was back but with a girl. They asked about the toad, but when the girl saw Harry reading, she sat beside him and began to ask questions. Again the dark haired boy never answered or spoke.

‘He hasn’t said a word the whole time I’ve been here. He doesn’t answer when I speak to him, he just reads.’

Just then the dark haired boy closed the book. He looked up and smiled, waved at the three kids in the compartment before he resized his trunk. He exchanged books before once again sitting down. Before he lowered his head to begin reading the girl spoke.

‘We were wondering why you never answered us?’ Hermione asked. Harry began to move his hands, ‘Oh, are you deaf and that’s why you didn’t answer?’ Harry once again used his hands, ‘I’m sorry, I don’t understand sign language. But you seemed to be able to understand me.’

Harry sighed, got his small notebook from his pocket along with a pen and began to write. When he finished he handed the note to the girl.

“Hi, my name is Harry, I’m deaf and I can’t speak, but I can read lips if I am staring at you. I did not mean to ignore anyone. Sometimes I get so engrossed in my books that I don’t notice things around me. Also, I don’t really get involved with what is going on since I can’t speak or hear. It makes things awkward,” Hermione said then looked at Harry, ‘I’m sorry. Okay, before you go back to reading, we can at least introduce ourselves. I’m Hermione Granger, I’m starting first year at Hogwarts and I’m what the magical world call a muggleborn. My parent’s are muggles, dentists.’

Harry waved giving the girl a smile. He turned to the chubby boy. ‘I’m Neville Longbottom. I’m a first year and well…I’m a pure-blood. But I’m not like those that don’t like muggleborns.’ He said shyly.

Harry smiled and waved then turned to the red head boy, ‘I’m Ron Weasley, pure-blood, youngest boy of our family. There are seven kids, I’m the second youngest. My sister starts next year. My twin brothers are on the train and my brother Percy who is Gryffindor’s prefect. I’m like Neville, I don’t think like those other pure-bloods who don’t like muggleborns.’

Harry smiled then wrote again before handing the note to Hermione, “It’s nice to meet all of you. Again sorry, it makes conversations difficult so I usually just stick to myself and my books. Hagrid told me my father was a pure-blood and my mother a muggleborn. They died when I was a baby. So that would make me a half-blood.”

‘It’s nice to meet you. But you didn’t tell us your full name,’ Hermione said. Harry wrote again then handed it to Hermione, ‘Harry Potter. You’re the-boy-who-lived,’ Hermione squeaked, ‘I read all about you…’ she stopped when Harry put up his hand then began to write, then handed the note once again to Hermione. “those books are full of lies, not worth the paper they are written on. No one was there that night apart from me, my parent’s and Voldemort. So no one could know what happened unless they were there. No one has ever asked me, but since I was so young I don’t remember all of it. I do remember a woman screaming, I worked out that it was my mother. I remember a flash of green light and I remember pain. That’s it. Oh and the books that say I live in a big castle are lies. I live in a muggle neighbourhood with my mother’s muggle sister and her husband and her son, who are both muggles. We hate each other so we mostly ignore each other. They don’t like anyone from our world. I’m only there until I’m older.”

‘You live with muggles? But how can that be and why has all those books lied?’ Neville asked.

All Harry did was shrug before he smiled then opened his book and began to read again.

During the sorting, Hermione kept standing next to Harry who was staring around at everything. She wondered how he would handle Hogwarts when he couldn’t hear nor could he speak. When she was sorted into Gryffindor, she kept her eyes on Harry. When Harry’s name was called, Hermione noticed Harry wasn’t moving or looking towards Professor McGonagall. Hermione got up and hurried to the professor.

‘Sorry Professor, but Harry Potter is deaf and he can’t talk. He can read lips but unless he can see your lips he can’t see what you are saying.’

‘Oh dear. Alright, thank you Miss Granger. Go back to your seat,’ Minerva quickly whispered to Albus before she moved through the first years. She stood beside Harry and carefully touched the boy’s arm, ‘Mr. Potter.’

Harry turned and smiled up at the professor. He pulled out his note book and pen and wrote.

“Sorry, did I miss something? I was so engrossed at the sight of this room.”

‘That’s quite alright Mr. Potter. I called your name to be sorted. Miss Granger explained about your…problem. Follow me up to the sorting hat. Tomorrow we will have you looked at by a healer to see if something can be done.’

Harry nodded then followed the woman up to the front. She gestured for him to take a seat, which he did, then a hat fell down on his head and on his face. He listened to the voice in his head, but he made sure to keep his thoughts on how most of the people that followed Voldemort had kids in Slytherin then that house would be dangerous to him. Finally the hat said Gryffindor. Harry wondered how he heard the voice when he couldn’t hear. He quickly wrote a note and handed it to the professor.

‘I would say the hat spoke to you in your mind Mr. Potter, due to the magic built into the hat.’ She was handed another note that said thank you, ‘You’re welcome.’ She gestured for Harry to join the Gryffindor table.

Harry sat beside Hermione who made sure he was looking at her, ‘I explained to the other Gryffindor’s how you can’t hear or speak.’

Harry wrote, thank you before he gave a wave to the other Gryffindor’s, most waved back.

As soon as the food appeared Minerva turned to Albus, ‘He was talking before that night. Naturally he was only saying one word here and there, but he could talk and he could hear.’

‘I will have Poppy check him over tomorrow.’

‘How will he be able to learn if he can’t hear or speak the spells?’

‘We will deal with that after he has been examined,’ Albus sighed. He hoped his idea of putting him with Lily’s sister isn’t the reason young Harry could not speak or hear. Hopefully it was a problem like an infection which Poppy should be able to fix.

When it was time to head to their house rooms, Hermione got Harry’s attention so he would be able to read her lips. He smiled, gave her a nod then got up and followed Percy like all the other first years.

By the morning all the students and staff knew Harry Potter was deaf and could not speak. Owls left Hogwarts in the hundreds, children informing their parent’s about the-boy-who-lived.

Hermione and Neville walked on either side of Harry. They were talking while Harry just looked around as they made their way down through the castle.

‘I might ask my parent’s to send me some books on sign language. I know they studied a bit of sign language. They did that to help when they got patients who were deaf.’

‘I’ve never seen anyone use their hands to speak before. But I’ve never heard of anyone in the magical world being deaf. Some have problems, like when they are older they find it hard to hear fully, but not completely deaf.’

‘Hopefully the matron might find a way to heal Harry’s problem. But I wonder why he can’t talk?’

‘Um, well, maybe it has something to do with how he survived that night. No one has ever survived the killing curse, yet Harry did. You can see the scar. Maybe not speaking and being deaf is a side affect of surviving.’

‘Maybe, I supposed we will have to wait until Harry is examined. Then it’s up to him if he tells us.’

After breakfast, Hermione, Harry and Neville made their way to transfiguration. Minerva made sure she was facing the students, especially Harry Potter, then set the students their task of turning a match into a needle. Just as she was about to move towards Harry when she noticed his hand moving. As she watched she ended up surprised that he was able to perform magic. She also noticed that he didn’t use the wand movements she had showed the class. He just pointed his wand at the match and it changed. She got closer to his desk to see all his matches were now needles. She tapped him on the shoulder so he would look at her.

‘Very good Mr. Potter. I am surprised you were able to do it first go.’

Harry wrote then handed it to the professor, “I’ve been able to do magic for years. Hagrid said that all kids do accidental magic. I studied my books and they didn’t sound too difficult. I don’t think it’s accidental since I usually mean what I do.”

‘Very well, that will be ten points to Gryffindor. Why don’t you turn them all back to matches then continue to change them from one to another.’

Harry wrote again, “Thank you for the points Professor and I will do what you ask.”

Minerva walked around the class correction some students, giving points to others who had performed the spell. But her eyes kept drifting to Harry Potter. She was amazed at how easy he found magic. She had never seen a student that could perform their first spell so easy before.

Hagrid entered the headmaster’s office, ‘Um Professor, there’s a situation out on the ground.’

‘What is it Hagrid?’

‘The animals and creatures like house elves, all of them are out there. Magorian said they need to see the child made from magic and they weren’t moving until they do. It’s all of them Professor, the centaurs, the unicorns, the thestrals, nifflers, kneazles, spiders, snakes, bugs, owls, all types of birds, but it’s also the house elves.’

‘Did they say who this child made from magic is?’

‘No, just that he’s the special one that is silent.’

‘Harry,’ Albus sighed, ‘Alright, I will find Mr Potter and bring him outside. Tell them we’ll be there soon.

Albus checked the schedule to find out which class Harry Potter was in right now. He had already been informed about the ease that Harry could perform magic. It seems Mr. Potter has a lot of gifts and that include all magical creatures.

Albus stepped into the charms classroom just before it was due to finish. ‘Oh headmaster, is there a problem?’ Filius asked.

‘I need Mr. Potter to join me, it seems all magical creatures are outside and want to see him. We can wait until your class is finished.

‘I was just about to dismiss the class headmaster,’ Filius turned back to his class, he told them to pack up their things but he did tap Harry on the shoulder to explain that the headmaster needed to see him.

Albus smiled down at the boy who was looking up at him, ‘There are some magical creatures here that wish to see you. So let’s head outside so we can find out what this is about?’

Harry nodded as he smiled. He followed the old headmaster out of the classroom and towards the doors. All the students from his class followed. By the time they got to the doors to the castle, more students had joined along with many of the staff.

They stepped outside to see hundreds of magical creatures. Harry smiled and made his way towards them. Albus was shocked at the sight, but stayed beside Harry.

‘We just want to child made from magic, headmaster. He will be fine and come to no harm,’ Magorian said.

‘Very well Magorian,’ Albus tapped Harry on the shoulder so the boy would look at him, ‘They want you to go alone. Will you be alright?’

Harry smiled, nodded then turned back to face the magical creatures. He walked straight towards them.

Albus, the teachers and every student were now standing outside the castle watching as the magical creatures began talking to Harry. They watched in amazement when a large male unicorn placed a baby unicorn at Harry’s feet. Then they watched as Harry knelt down and placed his hands on the baby unicorn. Harry’s hand and the unicorn glowed brightly. After a minute, the glow dissipated, Harry removed his hand and the baby unicorn stood but it gently nudged Harry’s hand before joining it’s father.

Harry then stepped in front of a very old house elf. He placed his hand over the house elf’s head. Like before, it glowed. Within minutes the glow dissipated and the house elf changed. It now stood taller, it’s features changed so they were like part elf and part human. But at the exact same time all the house elves changed so they were now taller and looked more human than elf even though they still had some elfish features.

Just then students screamed, the staff gasped as a large dragon flew down and landed near the group of magical creatures. The dragon didn’t hurt anyone and the magical creatures didn’t seem afraid. Harry walked straight up to it and the dragon lowered it’s head. Harry placed his hand on the dragon, again it glowed. This time though, the dragon didn’t change. Everyone gasped again when the dragon stuck it’s tongue out and gave Harry a lick which made Harry laugh, even if it was a silent laugh, they could tell he laughed.

Everyone was shocked again when a Pegasus flew down and landed in front of Harry. Everyone believed these beautiful magical creatures were extinct, now they were seeing that was not true.

More gasps and shouts were heard when a griffin appeared and made it’s way to Harry. That was one magical creature that most would never see as they did not like being around humans.

‘Albus, what is going on?’ Minerva asked.

‘I have no idea, Magorian called him the child made from magic. I will try to find answers after I return to my office.’

Harry continued to touch each magical creature. Students gasped when all of a sudden strange skeletal horse like creatures appeared out of nowhere. They heard some of the teachers explain that thestrals are invisible to all who have not witnessed death. But now it seems everyone can see them whether they had witnessed death or not.

Albus went to move towards Harry when a dementor arrived. But he was being stopped by some type of invisible barrier. He hoped Magorian was right and Harry would not be hurt.

Everyone was shocked when the dementor lowered it’s head and allowed Harry to touch it. When the glow dissipated again, the dementor straightened, opened it’s mouth and the souls it had eaten were being released. Hundreds and hundreds of souls were released, now those souls could move on to join loved ones. The group gasped again when the dementor slowly began to change. It turned white. They still could not see its face as it was still covered by the long robe, it was just a white robe instead of black.

Four ghostly animal figures appeared above Harry, ‘The founders,’ Pomona whispered in awe as she watched an eagle, a lion, a badger and a snake hovered over Harry. It seems they were communicating with Harry in some way they could not hear. Then, one by one the founders ghostly animals disappeared into Harry, who glowed brightly. All the magical creatures bowed their heads.

Everyone watching was amazed, shocked and surprised at what they were witnessing. They still had no idea what was going on or how Harry Potter was able to perform these amazing feats.

After one last bow by every magical creature that had come to see the child made from magic, they all began to drift back to where they came from. Harry kept smiling at them until they disappeared. Then he turned and saw all the staff and students staring at him. Harry smiled before walking towards them.

‘Can you tell us what that was about Mr. Potter?’ Albus asked making sure the boy could read his lips.

Harry took his notebook out of his pocket and his pen and began to write.

“The baby unicorn was injured, the father asked me to heal him, so I did. The dementors were never meant to keep souls. They were trapped just like the souls, so he asked me release him and his victims. They take souls of people who have died then release them so they can go to the nether world. He is what we would call the head dementor, so once I released him he was able to release the other dementors. The house elves had been cursed, touching the head of the house elf restored all of them to their natural state.”

‘What of the four ghostly images of the founders?’

“Oh, they said I am their heir and they had been waiting for me. They joined with me so they could return Hogwarts to how they originally planned it. They said it will take a while to teach me what they need and I will have to show you, the headmaster what it is they want changed so Hogwarts would be the place that it used to be,” Harry shrugged as he the headmaster read the paper Harry handed him.

‘Very well Harry. Let’s go into the great hall, it’s almost dinner time.’

Albus Dumbledore watched Harry Potter join his friends. As they moved into the castle the rest of the students followed, all talking about what they had seen. Now Albus had to think about what Harry said and how the founders planned to change Hogwarts. Albus was not sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing. He supposed he would find out, eventually. He already knew there would be nothing he could do about these changes, not when the heir was in control.

The following morning Albus got a visit from an old friend, someone he was not expecting.

‘My stone turned up in my secure room last night Albus. I’ve recast all my enchantments around it before coming here to ask why you returned it.’

‘I didn’t Nicholas, but I have a feeling I know who did. Yesterday I, along with the rest of the staff and students watched something amazing. First let me explain, have a seat.’

‘Thank you,’ Nicholas conjured a large comfortable looking armchair.

‘Harry Potter arrived here, he is deaf and mute. He can red lips though. From his first class the teachers were amazed at how easy he could perform magic, without a wand and without speaking or any type of wand movements. During the afternoon classes Hagrid came to tell me that all magical creatures were out on the lawn and they wanted to see the child made from magic.’

‘I never thought I would live to see the child made from magic.’

‘You’ve heard of him?’

‘Like how many think about my stone, I always thought it was a myth Albus. It is written that the child was created by pure magic. A child born to all four founders of Hogwarts who could understand and speak to all magical creatures. ’

‘He did, but he also released a dementor who it seems were not meant to keep souls. The souls were released and the dementor turned pure white. A dragon appeared, it ended up licking the boy. The house elves changed and I was told they had been cursed, he released them just like the dementor. A Pegasus arrived along with a griffin. I never believed the Pegasus was real, but it was beautiful. He healed a baby unicorn that was placed before Harry by it’s father. It was amazing to watch Nicholas but the shocks didn’t end there. The ghostly imagines of four animals appeared. A lion, an eagle, a badger and a snake. They seemed to communicate with Harry before they just seemed to enter him, join with him.’ Albus pulled open the drawer and took the note Harry gave him and handed it to Nicholas.

‘So the founders want Hogwarts to be what they originally planned. I would say things like the wards will get changed. I know many of the headmasters changed the wards or removed some. I know you removed the ward that detected the dark mark when you hired Snape. If the wards are one thing that gets changed you might need to find another potions teacher.’

‘I’m sure I can explain to Harry that Severus is needed.’

‘If what I know of the child made from magic, you will not change what he plans. The heir is supposed to make Hogwarts into the greatest magical school the world had ever seen. We both know that the governors had not passed on enough funds which has caused problems here, otherwise you would have a real person teaching history instead of a ghost.’

‘Is there anything else you could tell me about the child made from magic?’

‘Only that he will bring necessary changes to our world and make a world that is for all magicals. You know it will mean that some pure-bloods will take their children out of here once they realise they cannot stop these changes. You have not helped the situation Albus by allowing Severus to be bias which caused the houses to be more divided then ever. He gets his students out of trouble and often makes sure other students end up in detention.’

Just then the door opened and Minerva hurried inside, ‘I’m sorry to interrupt headmaster, Nicolas, but Severus has been forced from the castle and grounds, along with his personal belongings. But outside there is a bunch of items and from the small glance I gave them I could tell some were dark objects.’

‘The child made magic has forced the first change. He removed anyone dark along with dark objects. I know you Albus, you will try to talk the child into allowing Severus to return. It will not work. The child made from magic, he was created by pure magic, he works for the light. He can sense a dark soul. If he sensed any type of goodness in Severus he may have allowed him to stay. He forced him out which means he sensed a dark soul. I never could understand why you trusted that man when he has not shown anyone that he has changed sides.’

‘Headmaster,’ Filius ran into the room, ‘a dark wraith came out of Professor Quirrell and left the man dead. The wraith screamed before it just seemed to explode, but an item out on the law also exploded. I left Pomona guarding the items and had Poppy remove Professor Quirrell.’

Albus, Nicholas, Minerva and Filius hurried down through the castle until they came outside. A few teachers where keeping the students in the castle, but Harry Potter was sitting on the grass in front of the pile of dark objects. He was not touching anything just moving his hand and each item glowed before being placed in another pile.

‘Do not interrupt him Albus, he is cleansing all the darkness out of the items,’ Nicholas said then pointed, ‘Ravenclaw’s diadem.’

‘That has been missing for hundreds of years,’ Filius squeaked.

‘It was here all the time, but corrupted by dark magic,’ Albus said.

‘He corrupted it headmaster. He tricked me into revealing where I hid it. The child made from magic has cleaned my mother’s diadem.’

The staff and Nicolas turned to see the ghost of the grey lady, ‘Are you talking about Tom, Helena?’ Albus asked.

‘Yes,’ the grey lady turned and flew off back into the castle.

‘Tom, as in Tom Riddle or also known as Voldemort?’ Nicholas raised his eyebrows.

‘Yes, but it confirmed my suspicions about how he survived that night.’

They continued to watch Harry cleans all the items for the next hour before the boy stood. He turned to see everyone watching him again. He gave them a wave and a smile before he began to write. Albus took the note.

“The soul of the dark wizard was sent on. The teacher with the dark soul was forced out when the founders had me activate one of their old wards. Every dark object has now been cleansed, they are safe to use. If anyone tries to bring in a dark object, the wards will automatically cleanse them. The founders told me the teacher who the dark wizard was possessing offered his body to be used. I sent Fluffy back into the forbidden forest and returned the philosophers stone to it’s owner. The founders believed you should not have placed such a dangerous item in a school with children, not one that will attract dark wizards.’

‘I found my stone Mr Potter, so thank you for returning it,’ Nicholas gave Harry a bow who bowed back.

‘Are you sure Professor Snape has a dark soul Harry? He done good work for me during the war.’

Harry wrote and handed another note to the headmaster who read “His soul will always be dark and he planned to use his position to humiliate and torment certain students. He stayed here with you as he knew you would hear if his master returned then he planned to join him.”

Albus sighed, ‘Very well Harry. Are there any more changes right now that I need to be aware of?’

“The vaults of the founders will now only be accessed by me along with you, or the head of Hogwarts. The governors have been sacked and any money they removed from the founders vaults will be returned, with interest. The point system is being changed. The founders wish me to write it up so I can show you on the weekend.”

‘Why is the point system being changed when it’s worked for a thousand years?’ Minerva asked.

Harry wrote then handed the note to Minerva, “The founders never wanted a house point system. They started off with an individual point system where the three highest points earners win a prize at the end of the school year. The house cup goes to the house of the student with the highest points. The way it is now means that good students are punished when another student loses points which could cause the good students to forget about trying to earn points. They set it up so any student who loses 100 points will be suspended for three months. If the student loses another 100 points they will be expelled. The wards that stop students casting spells outside the classroom has been activated. The portraits will now act as witnesses if there are fights or arguments, but no one will be seriously hurt since they can’t cast spells. Mr filch has been told he has a month to find somewhere to go. He is not the type of person who should be around magical children. All he wants to do is torture them. More funds will be available so more teachers can be hired. The founders believed there should be two teachers per subject and no teacher can hold more than one position so funds can be used to hire people to be the head of house. There is more the founders plan but they said that will do for now, especially when the headmaster needs to find three teachers who received an O in their chosen subject.”

‘So if someone wants to be a charms teacher he or she would have received an O in charms?’ Filius asked.

Harry wrote and handed the little professor his not, “Yes Professor. They have to know what they are doing if they have any chance at teaching that subject.”

‘Very well Harry. I thank you for removing the dark magic from those items. You wouldn’t happen to know who they belong to, apart from Ravenclaw’s diadem?’

Harry wrote again, “I will have the list for you tomorrow Professor. I’m quite tired.”

‘Then head to your house rooms Harry.’

‘I will walk with you Mr Potter, if that’s alright with you?’ Nicholas smiled at the small boy who nodded.

Albus and the rest of the staff watched Nicholas Flamel and Harry Potter head into the castle.

‘Let’s gather these items and take them into the old classroom on the sixth floor,’ Albus said.

‘Do you think you will hear from the governors or the minister?’ Minerva asked as she began to conjure large trunks.

‘Oh I’m sure they will turn up either today or tomorrow. But if they read the charter of Hogwarts and had any letters from their children about what happened with the magical creatures, then I’m sure they will realise there is nothing they can do. If any one tries to remove or stop the founders heir, Hogwarts will seal itself.’

Harry listened to the man walking beside him. He couldn’t help smiling up at the man. He nodded before he wrote his note.

“Thank you, no one has ever wanted me before.”

‘Oh many people wanted you Harry but you were placed with your aunt for protection. My home is unplottable and under ancient enchantments. In six hundred years no one has ever been able to find it so it is very safe. I will leave you to rest but I will organise the papers so it will be legal.’

Harry smiled again then he hugged the man before he hurried into Gryffindor’s common room.

It was a couple of hours later that Harry woke from a nap. After using the bathroom, he headed down through the castle ready for dinner. He smiled at all the portraits who seemed to bow at him. He sat beside Hermione who was sitting near Neville.

Hermione smiled at Harry, ‘What was all that stuff on the lawn?’

Harry replied then slid the note to Hermione before dishing up some food, “Every item had some type of dark magic attached to it. I cleansed them, now they are safe and can be returned to the original owners. As for the screaming, that was Voldemort’s soul. He left parts of his soul so he couldn’t die, but I was able to send on all the soul so he’s gone now.’

Neville tapped Harry so he would look at him, ‘Who was that man you were talking to?’

“Nicholas Flamel.”

Hermione squeaked, ‘The famous alchemist. He owns the philosophers stone. He’s over six hundred years old.’

“His stone was here. I sent it back to him. He came here to find out why then heard what happened with the magical creatures.” Harry wrote then continued to eat before he wrote again, “He is going to adopt me.”

Hermione and Neville both ended up sitting there with their mouths hanging open which made Harry laugh, again it was a silent laugh. He reached over to both of them and pushed their mouths shut. Hermione ended up huffing but she gave Harry a smile. Neville just sat there in shock.

Harry began to eat, but he also opened a book and began to read, ‘I can’t believe it. I mean I saw what he did with the animals. Now he got rid of Voldemort’s soul and he’s going to be adopted by Nicholas Flamel, the famous alchemist. Imagine what he could teach Harry,’ Hermione said.

‘I think it’s great Harry’s going to have someone that actually wants him. He’ll have a father Hermione.’

‘And a mother,’ Hermione stared at Harry who was engrossed in his book. She smiled then went back to her food.

The minister for magic was working on trying to change what happened to Hogwarts, until an unspeakable arrived to show him some of files, files that originally belonged to the founders.

‘So you see minister, if you, or anyone tried to interfere with the heir of the founders, who just happens to be the child made from magic, Hogwarts will seal itself. It won’t matter if you wish to open another school, you would not be able to have access to the library or any of the artefacts like the sorting hat. The founders always intended for their heir to be in control and they never wanted the ministry to have any say over Hogwarts. Would you risk losing a thousand years of history? If what my spies have told me, then the child made from magic has already cleansed dark magic and removed Severus Snape from the castle. There is more,’ the unspeakable stared down at the minister, ‘Voldemort somehow was able to keep his soul from moving on. The child also destroyed the last of his soul. So once again Harry Potter saves the world. You have been lied to and manipulated minister. If you want to continue then I’m sure the child made from magic will eventually show the world just who Lucius Malfoy really is. I believe it’s time you allowed the aurors to do what they should have been able to do before, question every person with a dark mark with veritaserum. I will leave you with the file, it’s a copy, but it explains you will never be able to change the way Hogwarts is right now. Expect to hear that some parents will remove their children from Hogwarts and send them to Durmstrang, those will be all the dark families.’

It was as the unspeakable said, within days many families removed their children from Hogwarts and had them enroll in Durmstrang. Quarter of the Slytherin’s were gone but there were students from every house that was now gone from Hogwarts.

Harry gave a list to the headmaster on who owned the items that had been cleansed. They also spoke about the new teachers that would be hired. Harry also explained that Binns had finally moved on and divination would not be an elective. It would be available to a student if they showed signs of having the sight. Trelawney could remain at the castle but she would not be teaching normal classes. The founders also wanted some old subjects returned, like healing along with spell creation and experimental potions. The funds were now available to hire all the teachers they needed along with people who would be the new heads of house. The class case that showed the house points had been removed. Now there were hundreds of small class cases, one for each student. Only the student whose name was on the case could see how many points they had earned or lost. The teachers could also see the cases.

Even though Albus had not been expecting any changes to happen during his last years at Hogwarts, he realised he had no choice. It meant he had a lot of work to do but now, he could finally have someone to help him with all his work. He would not need to have Minerva help him with his paperwork.

So much has changed in such a short space of time, it would take some time before the staff and students of Hogwarts get used to the changes.

Many weren’t sure if it was a good thing, having the child made from magic at Hogwarts, but most believed it was time for Hogwarts to upgrade, in many ways.

The child made from magic would not only help Hogwarts become the best magical school in the world, he would also bring peace to the wizarding world.
