Chapter 6
He’s out:
Some people were screaming, some people fainted, some people were rushing in different directions, some people sat in their seats in shock. But one small group of people raced to the two teenage boys who had appeared out of nowhere.
It didn’t take long for many to realise that one of the teenage boys was dead and the other was seriously injured.
Even though no one knew what happened, Poppy Pomfrey only cared about the two boys. She had them instantly transported to her hospital. She placed the one alive and injured on a bed while she placed the other on another bed then pulled some curtains around him. She went to examine the one that was injured. Once she had finished with him, she did her examination on the one that died. She knew people would want answers, now she would be able to tell them.
‘Poppy, how is Harry?’
Poppy looked up to see the headmaster, the minister for magic along with the head of the DMLE and her aurors enter her hospital.
‘He’s suffering from exposure to the cruciatus curse and, this may be hard to believe, he’s alive but he was once again hit with the killing curse.’
‘He lived, again,’ Cornelius mumbled.
‘Yes but as for how Mr Potter is, he’s in a coma and I cannot bring him out of it.’
‘So he lived like last time but this time it’s put him in a coma. What about the cruciatus curse Madam Pomfrey, did that damage his brain?’ Amelia asked.
‘I do not believe so, but I won’t be able to tell for sure until he comes out of this. I can say from what my examination has shown that it will be quite some time before he returns to us. He is deep, very deep and that usually means months but it could also mean years.’
‘Without being able to question him, we can’t know who did this and why. We do know someone entered Mr Potter into the triwizard tournament against his will yet we do not know the reason. I would say what happened tonight is part of this,’ Amelia said.
‘Can you not trace where the portkey took them?’ Poppy asked.
‘I have a squad of aurors doing that right now. They will return here once they have finished their search.’
‘What about Mr Diggory?’ Albus asked sadly.
‘All I could determine was he was hit with the killing curse and like most people, he died instantly.’
Amelia picked up the wand beside the bed that held the-boy-who-lived.
‘Is this Mr Potter’s wand?’
‘Yes, holly and phoenix feather.’
Albus, Cornelius, Poppy and the two aurors watched Amelia perform her test on the wand. It showed the disarming charm and a stunning spell. It also showed a cutting curse and the spell to rebel a boggart.
‘I would say the cutting curse was used on either the spiders or the skrewts. But I would say Harry used the disarming charm and the stunning spell on whoever attacked them,’ Albus said, ‘I best go speak with the Diggory’s.’
‘Even though this might sound insensitive Albus, but since we know both Mr Potter and Mr Diggory touched the cup, they will share the prize money,’ Cornelius said.
‘I will mention it to the Diggory’s. Can you keep me informed on what your aurors find Madam Bones?’
‘Yes, once I have finished my investigation. We will be remaining here until my aurors return.’
‘I might come with you Albus,’ Cornelius said.
Poppy continued to try to wake up the boy, but so far, he was not showing any signs of waking.
It was nearly two hours later when a group of aurors walked into the hospital.
‘We found what looked like the beginning of some sort of ritual. There was a very large cauldron sitting in the middle of a graveyard with a stunned man who had the dark mark on his arm beside it.’
‘Did you recognise the man Auror Proudfoot?’
‘Yes, but, well, he is supposed to be dead and not a supporter.’
‘Who is it?’
‘Peter Pettigrew. For now, Auror Robards has placed him in a cell until he can be questioned.’
‘Madam Bones. I overheard a conversation at the end of the last school year. Mr Potter along with Miss Granger told the minister that Sirius Black was innocent and that Peter was alive. He confessed to being the secret keeper of the Potters and killing those muggles. Professor Dumbledore believed it but Professor Snape said Black was a killer and must have confunded the students. Remus Lupin also knows what happened but Cornelius took Professor Snape’s word. I’m sure you remember ma’am that James Potter, Sirius Black and their friends often pranked Severus Snape when he was a student. Also, I know he does go out of his way to harass Mr Potter. He’s had burns due to potions and I overheard Miss Granger who was angry that Snape allowed his Slytherin’s to throw things in the Gryffindor’s cauldron’s, especially Harry’s.’
‘I will use veritaserum on Mr Pettigrew to get the truth. He has no rights anymore since he is supposed to be dead,’ Amelia turned back to her aurors, ‘Did you find anything else?’
‘Just evidence of a fight but apart from Pettigrew, there was no one else there.’
‘Did he have a wand?’
‘We found a broken wand beside him. It was partially burned. Gawain placed it in an evidence bag.’
‘Very well, go right up your reports. I’ll go speak with the headmaster before I question Pettigrew.’
Amelia already knew she was not going to mention Pettigrew to the minister or the headmaster, not until she had proof that he is guilty or innocent in betraying the Potters. She knew that Albus liked to protect Snape and she knew that Cornelius liked to listen to Lucius Malfoy. She was going to make sure everything was legal and done before either of those men find out what is going on. She had never wanted to believe that Sirius Black was guilty, now she might finally have the proof that he had been set up.
It only took two days but Amelia had released the official statement that Peter Pettigrew had been the Potter’s secret keeper and set Sirius Black up for the murders. Sirius was cleared of all charges and Peter was now in Azkaban but in the lowest levels. The prisoners in those levels could not access their magic. Amelia did not want Peter using his animagus form to escape. Sirius had been brought in and given an interview about what had taken place the night he had been arrested. Only once did Amelia have to threaten Cornelius, he backed down instantly and ended up compensating Sirius for the twelve years in Azkaban.
Once that was all finalised, Amelia helped Sirius organise legal custody of his godson, Harry Potter. He might still be in a coma but at least now Sirius would have all say in regards to Harry’s life.
Another story was released about how Harry Potter once again survived the killing curse. This was after he was placed under the cruciatus curse. So far, no one can explain why Harry survived the killing curse, twice. Albus explained the first time was due to something his mother did to protect Harry. This time, he had no answer. So once again, Harry Potter was known as the-boy-who-survived-again.
Amelia had Severus Snape arrested for giving false testimony. Whether he goes to Azkaban or not, he will be found guilty which means he can no longer teach at Hogwarts. Amelia has been trying for years to get Snape out of Hogwarts, now she had. She will make sure he is never allowed back. She would like him in Azkaban but if there was enough evidence that he helped Albus during the war, he will end up released. He will still be found guilty of lying which caused emotional problems for Harry Potter, a student at Hogwarts. Amelia planned to speak with other students and get official statements from them about the way Snape was. No matter what, Severus Snape will never be allowed to teach again.
Even though Albus did speak for Severus about how he helped during the war, Severus Snape was found guilty and sentenced to five years in Azkaban for placing students in danger but also giving false testimony in regards to Sirius Black. He had the contents of his vault confiscated and it was given to Sirius Black.
Poppy had moved Harry into the only private room in her hospital. It was normally used for the staff. Since many kept trying to see Harry and not just his friends, but enemies, like some of the Slytherin’s, she felt it was safer.
Poppy stepped into the room to see Sirius sitting beside the bed that held his godson. Sirius was reading to Harry.
‘You know this could take months Sirius. I’m sure Harry would like you to have a life now you’re free.’
‘I know but I can’t leave him. I did buy a home for us, so when he leaves here, eventually, he will have a home. So has there been any more problems with some of those students?’
‘Oh, nothing I can’t handle. I believe the most troubling student is Draco Malfoy. From the day after all this happened, he has constantly been angry and keeps blaming Harry. None of us have found out why.’
‘I might be able to do something. I’ll speak with Remus about staying with Harry while I work on it.’
‘And how are you going to do that?’
‘I am now head of the Black family. I found out that my grandfather refused to disown me. All I need to do is send a letter to Narcissa Malfoy, nee Black. Most of the Malfoy money came from the Blacks. If I disown her and mention that she went against the current lord and his heir, she loses all that. I asked the goblins to keep that information quiet, for now. Harry had told me in letters how much trouble Malfoy always causes so I planned to make sure that would stop, one way or another.’
Poppy sighed, ‘Then for Harry’s safety, I believe you should do this as quickly as possible.’
‘I’ll send a note to Remus. I know you can keep Harry safe Poppy but you do get busy sometimes. It would not be difficult for him to slip passed you.’
‘No, which is why I believe you should do this as fast as possible.’
Sirius was back sitting beside Harry within a couple of hours but this time Remus stayed as well.
By the first class the following day, everyone inside Hogwarts noticed that Draco Malfoy was no longer at Hogwarts. Only Poppy, Sirius and Remus knew the reason, apart from Narcissa and Draco. Narcissa instantly had Draco leave Hogwarts and enrolled in Durmstrang. She did not even tell Dumbledore her reasons. She did not want to lose her money yet she knew how her son could react to any situation which could cause the head of the family to disown her if Draco caused any trouble for Harry Potter who was Lord Black’s heir. Draco sometimes didn’t think before he spoke or caused trouble. If he did anything again, especially against Sirius Black’s godson, they would end up broke. Draco might get satisfaction of killing Harry but they would end up outcast with no money and no home.
Poppy and the headmaster walked into the room holding Harry Potter. Sirius was again sitting beside Harry’s bed, reading.
‘Sirius, you said that you found a home for you and Harry,’ Albus said.
‘Yes, I also had the goblins ward it.’
‘Poppy believes it might be best if you took Harry home. He does not need to be in a hospital when all he needs it to be given potions three times a day. The summer holidays begins in a few days, only Hagrid and Argus Filch remains. We did discuss having him transferred to St Mungo’s, but I believe it would place him in danger. Since you have warded your home, he would be safe there. You will need to permit Poppy in so she can examine him occasionally or if you see any sign of him waking.’
‘That’s easy enough to do. It will keep him safer.’
Within an hour, Sirius had packed all Harry’s belongings then he and Poppy had Harry settled into his room at his new home. Poppy had gone over the potions Harry would need with Sirius. They were easy potions to make but they could be bought from St Mungo’s, if needed.
During this time, many had begun to notice that some people had not been seen. The aurors began to investigate the disappearance of many well known pure-bloods. So far, they had not found anything.
Sirius still spent time reading to Harry. He hoped if his godson could hear him, it might bring him back.
Harry didn’t know how it happened and even though he was alive, he was spending time with his parents. It was them that helped destroy Voldemort and all the death eaters that turned up in the graveyard. James wanted Peter found so Sirius could be free. James and Lily explained to Harry what they wanted him to do and even though he knew he would end up in a magical exhausted coma for nearly a year, he was willing if it would get rid of Voldemort and his death eaters, it would also allow Sirius to be free.
Even though Harry knew eventually he would wake up, he was finally getting to know his parents. During this time James and Lily also told Harry what they had seen and what they had found out. Since James and Lily were not alive, they could see bits of the immediate future. Now they passed that information on to Harry.
One bit of information that James and Lily explained to Harry was about the love potions that many girls planned to slip him. He had expected that, Hermione mentioned hearing girls talking about it. But James and Lily explained about two people who were determined Harry would end up with part of their family. Even though Harry knew Molly Weasley had used a love potion on Arthur Weasley, she was determined that her daughter would end up married to Harry. Ginny liked Harry but it didn’t matter to Molly about Harry’s feelings, she wanted her daughter to be married to Harry.
Harry explained to his parents who he had been watching a lot so they worked on plans so when Harry woke, he would approach the girl. If they ended up together, they could make sure it was known quickly to stop Ginny trying to get Harry. It was James and Lily that told their son that the girl Harry had been watching did have real feelings for him but because of his two friends, Ron and Hermione, she never felt comfortable approaching him.
Over the following months, many had begun to wonder if Harry Potter would ever wake. Sirius had authorised Remus to make the odd statement about Harry’s condition, which also had information from Poppy Pomfrey who was still seeing Harry even though he was no longer at Hogwarts.
‘His core has fully recovered now.’
Sirius had been watching Poppy examine his godson, ‘Does that mean he will wake up?’
‘It’s hard to say but the signs are good Sirius. From my first examination in regards to his drained core, I knew he would remain in a coma for a long time. I have seen patients who did not wake for five years because that’s how long it normally takes for the core to fully restore. Harry was always a powerful boy, so I believe when he wakes, it would not be as long as others. I am hopeful Sirius.’
‘Thanks Poppy. Just hearing that gives me hope. You know, I still get requests from healers at St Mungo’s to let them examine Harry. I sent a howler back to some who dared say you weren’t experienced enough.’
‘Just because I preferred staying at Hogwarts does not mean I do not keep up with my studies. Like with anything, new potions or charms are invented all the time. I stopped listening to them a long time ago, I suggest you do the same. I best get back.’
‘Thanks Poppy.’
Sirius waited until the healer was gone before he turned back to his godson. He stared in shock, then wondered if he was dreaming. He pinched his leg, which hurt, that told him he was awake.
‘Harry.’
‘Hey,’ Harry said softly, ‘Where am I?’
‘It’s our new home. I was cleared a couple of days after the last tasks. I have to call Poppy back.’
‘Wait,’ Harry again spoke softly, ‘I would rather no one know I’m awake yet. I would rather be fully healed before anyone finds out.’
‘If that’s what you want but Poppy will still need to examine you.’
‘Will she keep this quiet, for a while?’
‘Yes, if you ask her too and I ask her too. She can’t go against her patient or in my case, your guardian.’
‘Okay, then after she’s gone, I’ll fill you in on what happened. Most can’t be told, so we’ll have to work on a believable story.’
‘You have me curious pup. I’ll get Dobby to bring you some soup and tea while I floo call Poppy.’
It was only twenty minutes later that Poppy walked into the room to see Harry sitting up in bed, with pillows behind him. She could instantly see he was fine, if not a little pale.
‘Alright Mr Potter, tell me, how did you feel and please do not say fine.’
Sirius chuckled as Harry smiled, ‘But I do feel fine, apart from being a little drained. I feel like I’ve played the longest quidditch game in history.’
‘Which is normal for someone who has been in a coma for a year. It’s exactly one year since that happened.’
Poppy went about examining Harry while Sirius watched. Harry answered every question Poppy asked.
‘So, what’s the verdict Poppy?’ Sirius asked.
‘He is perfectly healthy. He will need to take it easy for a week or so. Today he is to remain in bed but he can begin to use the bathroom as long as you help Sirius. Tomorrow he can, again with your help, sit down in the living room. It would be good if he had some sun as well.’
‘I made sure there was a nice porch at the back.’
‘Will I be able to walk? I mean my legs feel like jelly.’
‘That is normal. The potions will help so it will only feel like that for the first few minutes of standing. You will need those potions for the next week, but that’s all. You just have to take it easy and eat regularly now you can. Potions keep you alive but proper food is always better.’
‘Great, thanks Madam Pomfrey.’
‘Poppy, we want to keep this quiet for a while. Harry wants to be back to normal before anyone finds out. You know what people like Albus and Fudge is like. Amelia will wait until Harry is fully recovered before she questions him but Albus and Fudge won’t.’
‘I will agreed to that because Albus has already told me I must tell him the moment Harry wakes. He does not have the right to know anything without your permission but he demands it. Harry does need time even if it’s only a couple of weeks. I would say three weeks and you wouldn’t even know anything has been wrong.’
‘Thanks,’ Harry said with a smile.
Over the next week, Harry mainly began to get back to normal and gather his strength. He felt better than ever before. He knew it was time to tell Sirius exactly what happened.
‘So that’s what happened to people like Malfoy, McNair and all the others. I know a parent who has died can go to a child when they are unconscious, it just doesn’t happen all the time. So James and Lily could give you there magic if they were killed, which they did but due to how you were raised, you never believed you could do anything. They helped you release your full potential which basically destroyed everyone in the graveyard, apart from Peter. Did they say how they did it?’
‘Mum invented it. She didn’t go into details and I’m glad she didn’t. If anyone tried to force me to tell them, others could do it and others I mean death eaters. She linked it to the killing curse and Voldemort, using his real name and the name he gave himself. It would only work if he killed them. The moment they died, their magic left their bodies and it came to me. They said I might have survived if I just had dad’s but he killed mum before he turned his wand on me. It was the three lots of magic inside me that protected me from the killing curse. They taught me how to suppress it so no one find out just how much power I have. I want to help but I don’t want to be forced to be an auror or minister. I want to be just an ordinary teenager.’
‘Then we have to work on a story for Albus and Amelia. She knows you didn’t cast the killing curse, so this is just to find out what happen then she can close the case. Albus always wants to know everything, whether he deserves to know or not. We’ll remove your real memory, make a copy then modify the copy.’
‘Will they be able to realise it’s been modified?’
‘No, we were taught when we first became aurors. Some people suffered terribly and healers believed modifying their memories would help them heal.’
‘Okay, so we could just say I arrived with Cedric, then I was unconscious. I didn’t see anything.’
‘It’s the simplest idea and one that we can work on straight away. The modified memory will show you arrive, then darkness until you woke up. All we’re doing is removing part, not changing it, which is easier.’
‘When should we do this?’
‘Give it another day and I’ll do it. We don’t want to wait too long in case Albus or someone else wants to see how you are.’
‘Dumbledore has no patience so he’s bound to turn up sooner or later. But think Sirius, you’re free and all of them are gone. Snape’s in Azkaban even if it’s only for a couple of years but it means he’s gone from Hogwarts. Oh one thing, will I have to repeat a year?’
‘I was going to suggest you just have me and Remus teach you. With just the two of us, we’ll have you ready for your newts sooner than you normally would. After what your parents said about Ginny, you can’t be in the same year as her. If you returned to Hogwarts, Albus would have no choice but to make you repeat which puts you in the same year as her.’
‘Then I won’t return. I can visit my friends on Hogsmeade weekends. You can be with me to make sure Ginny doesn’t try to slip me something. Do you know any type of spells that will show up a potion in food?’
‘Aurors are taught that. So you expect Ginny to send you something like chocolate’s?’
‘Yes but the moment it’s known I’m awake, Molly Weasley is bound to send me things like her mince pies. If she finds out I’m not returning to Hogwarts, she will send me lots of food as she would believe you couldn’t look after me properly. She wants me with Ginny so that food will have a love potion. She’s not against using them as she used a love potion on Arthur.’
‘Then anything you get sent will be checked. Also, do not touch anything until I’ve cast the charms over them.’
‘That makes me feel better.’
Sirius was able to work on Harry’s memory so it shows him and Cedric arriving in a graveyard, then it went black until Harry woke a few days ago. It was time to contact Amelia Bones. Sirius and Harry wanted to speak with her first, hopefully she will explain to Dumbledore and Fudge. It won’t stop Dumbledore from wanting to speak to Harry but they had their story straight and Harry knew not to look into Albus Dumbledore’s eyes.
‘When he finds out you won’t be returning, mainly because you don’t want to repeat, he will work on keeping you in the same year.’
‘Yeah, he could easily do that but I would still be worried that she would slip me a love potion. She’s friendly with Hermione so she could make it seem like she’s sitting with us so she could slip a potion into my drink. No, it’s safer to stay away. I mean I already stopped talking to Ron. Hermione decided to spend all her time with Ron and Ginny and I was left alone. I finally became closer to Neville but he’s always in a world of his own, he loves his plants. It would be better for me to learn from you and Remus, then I can take my newts and Dumbledore can’t force me to return.’
‘He can’t anyway but he could work on a way to change the law. Maybe we can keep you condition quiet for another year. I’ll speak with Amelia, she knows what Albus can be like. If she agrees then everyone will believe you’re still in a coma. She might be able to help me organise for you to take your newts in secret. It would just need one person from the examination board to take you through your examination.’
‘That might be the best way to go. Madam Pomfrey said she knows what Dumbledore is like. I’ll get you to contact her before we speak with Madam Bones.’
Poppy agreed to keep Harry’s condition quiet, mainly because she was becoming annoyed with Albus always asking her about Harry. Amelia Bones also agreed and she knew someone who could take Harry through his newts without anyone finding out. Now all Harry had to do was learn from Sirius and Remus.
Madam Bones did take Harry’s memory then she did the official questioning. It was as she thought, Harry didn’t know what happened as he was unconscious almost instantly. She could officially close the case about Harry Potter and Cedric Diggory. She got the official statement from Peter Pettigrew, he had killed Cedric before cursing Harry. It was thanks to James and Lily who taught Harry so he was able to work on Peter’s memory so it would seem like he cursed Harry with Voldemort’s wand and he was trying to find a way to bring Voldemort back. Nothing happened except he ended up unconscious, until the aurors arrived. James and Lily did not want anyone to know how close it was for Voldemort returning. They knew Albus would use this to exert more control over their son. They were not going to let that happen.
‘Okay, you have another couple of weeks before the holidays are officially over. You can take those weeks and we could have a holiday or you can start your lessons?’
‘Since it’s just me, we could do both. Have lessons but on the odd day or we take a few days and go somewhere. It would have to be in another country so no one see’s me.’
‘Then we do that. We’ll work on using fake I.D’s and use magic and muggle to get around. Let’s take the next week so you can learn to apparate. Did your dad say anything about animagus?’
‘He said I will have no trouble learning and a lot faster than you lot did.’
‘Then we do that as well. We might be able to use our animagus forms to move about. It will depend on what you turn into.’
‘Mum said I will have wings but that’s all she could tell me.’
‘That is something your dad was hoping for.’
‘Yeah, he told me. He began to wind me up though by saying flies and mosquito’s have wings.’
Sirius laughed loudly making Harry huff which just made Sirius laugh louder and longer.
Amelia was able to work on a way for Susan to be told the truth about Harry so they could see each other. Susan would not be able to tell anyone even if someone slipped her veritaserum. At the moment, no one would suspect Susan was visiting Harry since they only ever spoke when they shared a class, like herbology. There would be no reason for Albus or Cornelius to look at Susan so she would be safe from being questions. Susan would do anything to get a chance at the boy she had liked for years.
Harry and Susan spent a lot of their holidays together, either at Harry’s home or Susan’s. When she returned to Hogwarts, Sirius had given Susan and Harry a matching pair of mirrors. But Susan’s mirror was charmed so no one could see or hear who she was talking to. Even though they could write to each other, now they could see each other. Susan planned to tell people that she met a boy and they just seemed to hit it off. They wanted to keep it quiet for now so they could get used to a serious relationship. During Hogsmeade weekends, Susan would sneak away and meet up with Harry in the cave that Sirius used to hide in. During the Christmas holidays, they spent the whole time together.
On Harry’s sixteen birthday, he got his results of his newts. He past every subject. He got O + in defence against the dark arts along with charms and transfiguration. He got O in potions and history of magic. He got EE in care of magical creatures, astronomy and ancient runes. He expected to only get an A in ancient runes since he had only a year of learning that subject from Remus.
‘Even though you’re only sixteen, you’ve done your newts so no one can force you to return to Hogwarts. Susan will be returning in September but we have two months to work on some plans before anyone finds out you’re awake but also that you’ve past your newts. Susan will be going away with us for a few weeks, then she will spend time with her friends and her aunt even if she will come here to see you.’
‘So we wait until the first of September before we let everyone know?’
‘Yes, but your results will be released at the same time, which will stop any of Albus’ plans.’
Harry enjoyed his days spent with Susan. They didn’t spend every day together, but most days they did. Susan did go away with Sirius and Harry but as far as her friends knew, she was spending time with her aunt. She said now she was getting older, she knew once she had finished Hogwarts, she would not get as much time to see her aunt. That worked for now but they knew Susan couldn’t spend all her time with Harry even if that’s what she wanted. It would seem suspicious and they did not want someone like Albus Dumbledore to become suspicious of Susan. If he did, he would have easy access to her and he wasn’t against using legilimense to get information.
On the first of September, the story was released that Harry was well and he had been taking his time so he could learn everything he couldn’t during his time at Hogwarts. He also used this time to take his newts, which he passed with mostly O’s, with a couple of EE’s.
It was instant, Albus sent a letter to Sirius telling him to allow him into their home so he could speak with Harry. By the following morning a package arrived for Harry from Molly Weasley. Sirius checked everything. He found love potions in the mince pies, the treacle tart and he found a locating charm on the knitted Weasley Jumper. Sirius instantly called Amelia who came to the house and did her own tests on the food and clothing. When Amelia left, she went straight to the Burrow where she officially warned Molly that if her or anyone in her family tried this again, she would be arrested along with whoever tried to give Harry a potion against his will.
Sirius never answered Albus’ letter, he knew he would get more, he just didn’t know if Albus would try anything else.
Albus waited two days and when he didn’t get an answer from Sirius, he instantly sent a sharp and curt letter to Sirius basically ordering him to allow him in to see Harry. Sirius sent a howler back saying no. Harry had given his official statement to Amelia, then all he wanted to do was learn without being put in danger or everyone turning on him. He wanted to be left alone, especially from Dumbledore who liked to hire shitty teachers or death eaters.
It was two days after Susan left Hogwarts after finishing her newts that a story appeared on the front page of the Daily Prophet. It was about Susan and Harry being engaged to be married. The story went on to explain that they had been together from the moment he woke and spent all their holidays together but often spoke by the use of the mirrors Sirius supplied them. Amelia said she approved of her niece and Harry’s relationship as she had witnessed how much they loved in each other. The wedding would be a private affair, but no details will be released as the happy couple didn’t want anyone to disrupt their wedding.
Harry had only told Neville and Luna, both would get an invitation. Susan had told her two best friends, Hannah and Sally. They would also get invited to the wedding. But Hannah would be the bridesmaid while Sirius would be Harry’s best man, but he would also represent Harry’s family.
A few more packages arrived, this time with names they didn’t know but all of the food had love potions. Even though there was no name, Sirius, Amelia, Susan and Harry all believed either Ginny or Molly sent them. The new wards around the house instantly showed up if potions crossed the boundary. There were also letters sent with nothing written on them but again, the parchment had things like the portus charm attached to them, again the wards alerted them. Amelia wanted to be able to arrest the people sending them but could not find proof of who sent them. She may know it was Albus and some of the Weasley’s but she had no proof.
Harry and Susan had agreed to never touch any mail that came to their homes. Nothing went to their own home that they bought. They hadn’t moved in yet, they were waiting until after they were married.
It was a month later that Witch Weekly and the Quibbler released photos and a story about Harry Potter’s marriage to Susan Bones. The pictures showed a nice looking couple who looked very much in love. The pictures also showed who had been invited to the wedding.
From the moment everyone knew Harry Potter married, some people began to realised they had lost their friend. Ginny realised there was nothing she could do. Wizarding marriages were for life. The only way someone could marry a second time was if their partner died. Ginny knew that probably wouldn’t happen to Susan, not if Harry never got any of the potion dosed food. Susan wouldn’t open anything that could harm her. She finally decided to move on and find another boy who might make a good husband.
Hermione and Ron realised it was their own fault that they lost Harry as a friend. Ron was still angry but he knew it had all been his fault. Hermione knew Harry gave everyone another chance if they did something wrong to him. When she spent all her time with Ron after Harry’s name came out of the goblet of fire, Harry saw that as her turning her back on him. That was the second time for Hermione, which is why he had refused her letters and why she never received an invitation to Harry’s wedding.
No matter what Albus tried, he could not find a way to speak with Harry. He wasn’t going to give up but unless he saw the boy, he realised there was nothing he could do. Albus did asked to see the report Amelia had on what Harry told her about what happened when Harry and Cedric took the cup. He wasn’t sure if he believed it until Amelia told him she had seen Harry’s memory. What was in the report was the truth. Harry was unconscious right after he saw Peter kill Cedric. He never saw anything so there was nothing to report. She told Albus that he should give up trying to see Harry when he couldn’t tell him anything since he had been unconscious.
Albus had hoped that Harry would have seen something and that something was Voldemort. Albus knew the dark wizard would keep trying to return and he believed that’s why Harry’s name came out of the goblet of fire. Now he knew Harry did not see anything apart from Peter and he knew it had all been Peter, then there was nothing he could do. He would keep a look out and listen for any signs of Voldemort was getting stronger. Being the chief warlock, that allowed Albus to visit Severus in Azkaban. It was when his former teacher showed his arm that Albus got a shock. The dark mark which had always been faded since that Halloween night in nineteen eighty one, was now gone. It was completely gone. Severus even told him that before the triwizard tournament, he got twinges through the dark mark, painful twinges and it also began to get darker. Now it was gone. Albus wasn’t sure what to believe but knowing the dark mark was gone meant Voldemort was really gone, for good this time. He just had no idea how it happened.
Albus decided to question Peter. Even though he read the report on his questioning under the influence of veritaserum, he wanted to hear it from the man himself. Peter found an old ritual and by using the closest blood families bones and blood of the enemy, he could summon the dark lord back. All that happened was the ingredients in the cauldron caught fire then literally disappeared. It had flashed out so violently that he ended up unconscious. Albus asked where he found the ritual and where it was now. Albus sagged in defeat when Peter said the book, which was over eight hundred years old, burnt to ash the moment he called the bones of the father. The book was taken from the department of mysteries and it was the only copy left in existence. Albus realised now that he could not find out what happened, which meant he had to go on the evidence that Voldemort was truly gone, for good. He decided to let it go but keep a listen out, just in case. He also decided it was time to leave Harry Potter alone.
The home Harry and Susan had built was on the same piece of land that Sirius had his home. Since Harry and Sirius had only been able to get to know each other properly after he woke from the coma, neither of them wanted to be separated. They knew Harry and Susan were beginning their married life, but both wanted Sirius and Amelia to be part of their lives. Amelia would floo in twice a week to have dinner with Susan and Harry. Sirius would also walk down to the house a couple of times a week to spend time with Harry and Susan. He would always send his patronus off first to make sure they were available, meaning they weren’t having sex. Sirius never wanted to disturb the young married couple.
Susan went on to train as an auror after having a six month long honeymoon. Due to who her aunt was, she wasn’t harassed or questioned all the time about her marriage to Harry Potter.
Harry did a secret try out with the Falmouth Falcons and ended up on the team. Naturally he would start on the reserve team as seeker, but one thing the Falcons did was often bring in their reserves for one part of a game, to get them used to playing against another professional team. Whenever Harry was brought on, he always caught the snitch. He became the teams main seeker before the year was out. The Falmouth Falcons broke a lot of records, not just by their players, but also the amount of spectators that turned up for every game they played. They ended up having to build a bigger stadium just to seat everyone.
Harry never knew it but people like Ron and Hermione would be sitting in the stands watching Harry play. Albus Dumbledore had gone to a few games, just to see how Harry was. Ginny did once but after seeing Harry kiss his wife after they won a game, she decided never to watch Harry play again. She planned to play and if she got lucky to get a team to take her on, she knew she would see Harry. Now she would treat him as an old acquaintance instead of hoping they would end up together.
During this time, Sirius decided to invest and join the Weasley twins in their joke shop. Between the three of them, they created so many funny and wonderful products, that they expanded. They ended up with a dozen shops in different countries. They still had their main shop in Diagon alley and a larger one in Hogsmeade. Sirius also used the shops to sell his communication mirror’s. He started with the two like his old mirror but eventually made them so every mirror could connect to any other. Naturally there were protections and people had to have the password or sentence that would allow them to connect to a certain person. He still sold twin pairs, mainly for couples, especially teenagers who did not want others interrupting their calls to their boyfriend or girlfriend. Those were popular with the students of Hogwarts, especially students who were in different houses.
It was ten years to the day when Harry woke from the coma that the wizarding world found out that Susan Potter had given birth to their first child, a son they named Orion James Potter. They released one picture of the baby with his parents and a small statement that said Orion was the first of their children. Susan and Harry both hoped for at least four children. Neither of them had siblings and it was something they both wanted for their children. The wizarding world celebrated again, this time was the birth of the-boy-who-survived again son.
Sirius ended up marrying Amelia Bones. They spent a lot of time together once Harry and Susan began dating, they just began to fall in love. Sirius had already named Harry his heir, so even though he will never have children on his own, he got to be a grandfather to Harry and Susan’s children just as Amelia got to be a grandmother.
The Potter, Bones and Black family became one when Harry and Susan married, now it was expanding. To the family, they all finally had the lives they had been hoping for.
