Chapter 21

Draco followed Hermione's gaze to see Harry, Pansy, Ginny, Blaise, Ron, and Astoria walking together toward the exiting door on the other side of the Ministry building.

"Hmm," Hermione gazed at the six of them studiously. They all seemed to be talking casually with each other as they exited the building. She turned to Draco. "You been hanging out with Harry recently?"

Draco blinked. "No….he's slowly becoming friends with the Weasley again. I….I don't really have any other reason to see Potter again…"

Hermione smacked his arm. "Oh, come on! Friendship shouldn’t be founded on hate."

"I know," said Draco. "That's why it's been hard to keep up with Potter lately….we only ever bonded over our shared hatred for Ron."

Hermione rolled her eyes. "Is that really all you guys bonded over?"

"Pretty much," said Draco with a shrug. "I'm just being honest here."

Hermione crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow. "Okay, well is that really all you guys can bond over?"

Draco then thought about other things he had bonded with Potter over during the time they had worked together. They both had a love for Quidditch, both had their own ways of being Slytherin-sly, and Gryffindor-courageous, and….most importantly…..they both had shared values for heroism. They both cared for Pansy, and were committed to working together to help track down whatever it was that brought such injustice to her. As he watched Harry and Pansy holding hands while laughing over something Blaise was saying, Draco found himself feeling a new surge of excitement over the idea of being bros with Potter again.

He turned to Hermione and gave her a smirk. "Let's have another meeting. Just the three of us."

Hermione laughed. "Sounds good. How bout we meet at the Leaky Cauldron?"

"Hmm…" said Draco. "I'd prefer someplace less fancy. I was saving that for you and me. If you are interested."

Hermione's face lit up with surprise. "I'd….I'd like that." She smiled, looking like she was trying to suppress her elation.

Draco turned to her and poked her nose again. "Let's just meet with Potter at the muggle coffee shop tomorrow. Then it's our date at the Leaky Cauldron."
