Padfoot (doesn´t) goes to the vet

Sirius looked at himself in the entrance mirror one more time. He had scheduled an appointment for Padfoot at Remus clinic. Of course, it was only a haircut for the big black dog, but sure enough it was a good excuse to see Remus again and hopefully ask him out.
“Nice, nice, nice.” Repeated Sirius running his fingers through his hair. Padfoot gave his leg a light tap. “I know boy, we´ll be out of here soon just one sec.” he chatted to the dog.
Sirius took the leather jacket from the chair nearby and threw it on his body. He looked at himself and gave a little spin. It sure fitted him. Remus had suggested the purchase. For Sirius wearing that leather jacket was an obvious sing of his interest in Remus. The tall scrawny boy will definitely notice Sirius had bought the jacket solely due to his advice.
“Padfoot!” commanded Sirius when his dog started growing impatient. “Don´t rush me, I don’t rush you in the morning.... besides it´s only…” Sirius took out his phone to check the time. “Shit! It 5.15!” he shouted turning to Padfoot, who was looking at him with attentive eyes. Sirius grabbed Padfoot face between his hands. “We are going to be so late!”
Sirius rushed to grab the keys and Padfoot leash. And on less than an minute he was out the door, rushing to his car. Once there, he drove as fast as he could without breaking any law. He didn´t need to get another ticket.
“Shit, shit, shit.” He said to himself on a red light. “If I lose my appointment James and Reg are going to kill me”
He had spoken to a woman when he had made the appointment. And although she had seemed very nice, the lady had said they had a twenty minute tolerance policy. Sirius had already used fifteen minutes just looking at himself on the mirror. Besides, James Big mouth Potter had of course told his little brother about the encounter the other day, so now, naturally, Regulus was invested too.
“I told you!” Regulus had exclaimed triumphantly “I was pretty sure you two would had such chemistry together. Didn’t I said so James?”
To wich James had answered with a fond smile and a “Course you did darling.” Christ, Sirius would never get used to his best friend shagging his little brother. “It´s not shagging when he is my fiancé”. Sirius heard the voice of James scold him on his own mind.
Green light.
Sirius sped off once again. Hoping there was a parking space on the vet clinic.
.
“Remus!” yelled Lily from the front desk. “Looks who is finally here.”
Remus would be embarrassed to say that he exited his office practically running to see who Lily was talking about. Although, he already knew who his friend was referring to.
He had been the one two answered when Sirius had called to make an appointment for his dog. But he had a moment of weakness and couldn´t think of anything to say, so instead, he had shove the phone towards Lily, who had just laughed. Sirius had made an appointment to groom Padfoot, however he was very late and when ten past five was shown on the clock Remus had doubted if Sirius would come.
Both Lily and Remus stared at the show Sirius was putting on. The glasses on the vet were those ones that look like a mirror on the outside but are see through from the inside, so they enjoyed very much watching a very rushed and flustered Sirius trying to get his shit together while exiting his car.
Sirius parked awfully in front of the vet. Then he practically jump out of the car and rushed towards the door. However he froze midway and started patting himself.
“He forgot his wallet on the car.” Chuckled Remus.
“Oh my god this is hilarious.” Laughed Lily as they watch Sirius butt up in the air while his other half was inside the car probably looking for his wallet.
“You are so mean.” Said Remus, but he was laughing too.
“Is that the jacket you told him to buy?” asked Lily looking at Sirius finally standing up, wallet in hand.
“Yeah.” Remus sighted. “He looks good doesn´t he?”
“Oh god, both of you got it bad.” Lily said shoving him lightly.
“Can you blame me?” said Remus without leaving his sight from Sirius. “I mean he is good-looking, Reg said he was kind and very loyal.”
“Yeah I see it.” Said Lily.
Sirius closed his car door.
“He is funny too. And he is… an idiot.” Said Remus deadpanned.
Lily turned her head to see Remus was looking. Sirius had shut his car door but the side of his leather jacket had been trapped on the process. Sirius had walk confidently but his jacket had yanked him backwards making him hit the car. Now he was struggling to get it out.
“Oh my god! This is gold.” Lily bend with laughter.
“Why don´t he opens the car door?” asked Remus laughing as well.
“I don´t know.” Replied Lily with short breath.
Sirius finally opened the damn door. He rearranged his clothes and took a look at the clock. He took a deep breath and started walking towards the clinic. Once he was in front of the door he arrange his hair on the mirror. Lily laughed again. Sirius opened the door and took in the view. It was a small clinic with some chair against the walls and a few animal toy on some racks. The front desk was in the middle of the room and behind it, there was the one and only Remus Lupin, smiling. Sirius didn´t even to bother to look at the other person. As soon as he made eye contact a shite eating grin appeared on his face.
Lily, literally saw the moment when Sirius spotted Remus. The raven haired boy beamed at his friends. “Maybe he is not the brightness but he definitely seems smitten.” She thought to herself with a discreet smile. She gave Remus a side look, and sure enough her best friend was practically melting on the counter.
“Close your mouth or you´ll drool.” Lily whispered.
Remus stood up straight instantly.
“Sirius! Hi!” said Remus. “So nice to see you here.”
“Hi, yeah I made an appointment so…”
“Oh yeah, right.” Said Remus awkwardly.
“This idiots.” Thought Lily.
“Sorry for being late.” Sirius said. “Hi I´m Sirius.”
“Oh right, this is my best friend Lily. Lily this is Sirius.” Introduced Remus.
“Pleasure to meet you.” Said Sirius.
“Like wise.”
Sirius eyes only left Remus face for the minimum time to give Lily a kind smile. Then he returned to gaze at the sandy haired boy.
“I thought you wouldn´t come.” Said Remus leaning the slightest towards Sirius.
“Yeah, sorry again for the delay.” Sirius put an arm over the counter and land nonchalantly in an effort to impress Remus. Lily giggled because now she couldn´t get the image of this cool confident person fighting with a car door for his jacket. “I was just getting ready but I lost track of time and then…”
Sirius stopped mid-sentence. Remus tilted his head with a curious glance.
Suddenly Sirius eyes went wide.
“HOLY FUCKING SHIT! I FORGOT PADFOOT!”
With that he was ran out the door. Lily and Remus burst out laughing.
Sirius got rapidly on his car but he didn´t started it. Lily and Remus were still laughing when Sirius got back out again.
Sirius entered the vet very awkwardly this time.
“Erm, sorry for that. I forgot my dog.” He said shyly.
“So it seems.” Said Remus with a smug smile.
“This is not my day.” Sirius said with the faintest blush covering his cheeks.
“Tell that to the car that got your jacket.” Laughed Lily.
“How´d you?” Sirius looked towards where Lily was pointing. He realized the windows where see though from the inside.
He.
Was.
Mortified.
“You saw…?” He blurted out. Remus nodded trying to contain his laughed. “Everything?”
“Everything.” Confirmed Remus.
Sirius looked at the celling. Oh, how he wanted to die right now. He, Sirius Black, had made a fool of himself in front of the most gorgeous guy he had ever seen. He felt his face begin to burn. And that only serve to increase his embarrassment. Now he was blushing. And he knew he was blushing hard.
“Hey,” Remus called with an awfully soft tone. “Don´t be embarrassed. It happens to everyone.” Sirius arched a brow. Remus took a step closer. “Well, it´s not every day someone forgets to bring his dog with them to the vet, but hey, the car thing and everything else, don´t worry okay?”
Remus voice was truly soothing. Sirius could only nod.
“Besides…” Remus was looking at the floor, not quite meeting Sirius gaze now. “I thought it was rather cute.”
Sirius huffed, and although he knew he was blushing again, this time he didn´t felt as embarrassed.
“Cute huh?”
“Don´t let it go to your head. It was cute in a weird clumsy kind of way.”
“Well, not my brightest moment, but I´m not that dumb I swear.” Sirius said tucking his hair behind his ear.
“I know you are not, but I wouldn´t mind, anyways.” Remus dared say in a flirty tone.
“Good thing to know.” Said Sirius leaning once again on the counter.
“So, this was fun to watch.” Announced Lily with the smuggest smile. “I´m going to take my lunch break now Remus.”
“Uh hum” said Remus without looking away from Sirius.
Lily shoot the door a bit too loud and the bubble was broken.
“So… you forgot Padfoot, wanna reschedule?” said Remus entering his professional mode.
“Nah, I actually took him to the vet the day we met. He is not that handsome every day.” Said Sirius.
“I´m telling him, you said he was not handsome.” Teased Remus.
“Please don´t. He´ll make me sleep on the couch. He already takes up like half the bed.”
They both laughed a bit. When the sound died they just… stared.
“So, why did you made an appointment then?” asked Remus. Although he knew. And he knew Sirius knew he knew.
“I wanted to see you again.”
“Yeah?”
“Yes.” Sirius voice was low. “You forgot something the other day on the store.”
Remus was taken aback by this.
“I did?” He said squinting his eyes, trying to remember. Sirius only nodded. “What did I forget?”
“My number.” Said Sirius slyly.
Remus could only laughed.
“Oh my god, was a pick up line?”
Sirius shrugged.
“Depends… did it worked?”
“You are lucky you are pretty.” Laughed Remus handing Sirius a pen and paper.
“What can I say?” said Sirius looking rather pleased with himself. “My looks are irresistible.”
“I´d say is your charming way of exiting a car what got me, but sure.”
“Oi!” Said Sirius handing the paper with his number to Remus. “You were not supposed to see that.”
“Well, I´m glad I did.” Remus rested his chin on his fist and leaned across the counter. “I was oddly endearing.”
“You are just taking the piss with me.” Complained Sirius with an awkward smile. However Remus had manage what he intended, and the raven haired boy was looking very flustered.
“I would never dare.” Teased Remus. “However, I would love to take you out?”
“I came here to ask YOU out.”
“And you invitation, like Padfoot, were forgotten.” Mocked Remus.
“Please stop.” said Sirius with the most genuine and soft smile Remus had seen.
“I´ll stop until you say yes.”
“It´s a date.” Confirmed Sirius.
“It´s a date.”
Sirius exited the vet clinic feeling rather pleased with himself. Remus was like no other person he had met. He was an odd mix of shyness with bold moments. He was kind, but flirty and at the same time sarcastic. Sirius was fascinated.
Remus just stare at the door waiting for Sirius to come back.
Sirius had reached his car, when his head snapped back to the clinic. And although the outside view was a mirror, Remus almost felt they were making eye contact. Sirius smiled and walked for the million time, from his car, back to the vet. Remus smiled as well, “there he goes.” He thought.
Sirius head popped from the door.
“Remus?”
“Sirius?”
“What day is the date… and what do you want to do?” he asked with a lopsided grin.
“I´ll pick you up at five this Friday.” Said Remus. “I´ll take you swimming.”
“Uh… my brother and I don´t know how to swim.”
“Oh. Then… amusement park?”
“Amusement park!”
Sirius closed the door only to reopen it a minute later.
“Yes?” said Remus amused.
“Can I win you those big fluffy wolfs that are at the stands with the balls?”
“I think I might kiss you if you win me one of those.” Said Remus without thinking.
“Sounds perfect for me.” Said Sirius while Remus blushed.
“I´ll text you later okay?”
“Can wait Remus Lupin.” winked Sirius.
“Get going Black. I´m sure Padfoot is wondering where you are.”
Sirius stuck out his tongue before closing the door, leaving with a faint blush and a big grin. Remus on the other hand let himself fall on the nearest chair, and stared at the point where Sirius had been standing with his amazing grey eyes, dare devilish looks and his bubbly personality.
“You got it bad huh?” said Lily entering with a half sandwich on her hand.
“So bad.” whispered Remus.
He had a date.
With Sirius Black.
He ran a hand thought his curls, a goofy smile plastered on his face.
A date.
