Winter Break
It is common in households that have younger and older children to have two celebrations within the family for the younger children when birthdays happen. It is normally at winter break that the younger children get to celebrate with the older children that are currently attending Hogwarts. It can cause feelings of resentment or favoritism as these events are wildly different for the child at school versus at home. There are many ways to solve this problem but not all are effective in keeping the older children from acting out or holding onto feelings of resentment.

Sirius was looking for his bottle of black sand from his trip. He frowned as he didn’t see it in any of the places he normally had kept it. He didn’t think anyone had been in his room either so where had it gone. While he was looking, he didn’t realize that his cousin Bellatrix had made her way back to his door to watch his frantic searching.
“Oh did the little bitty baby Siri lose something?” Bellatrix asked as she leaned in the doorway blocking Sirius in.
Looking up, startled, Sirius tilted his head and shook his head. “No cousin Bella, I just must have left the thing I was looking for elsewhere. I should just ask Kreature,” he said as he moved to stand up.
“Now why would you have to do that little bitty Siri?” She said stepping into the room which caused Sirius to step back as she took claim of space in his room.
“Because he would know where it is possibly, and I wasted so much time and you are only here for a limited time. I don’t want to miss any time with you or Dromeda or Cissa but, mostly you Bella because you are only here for two weeks! And we have Yule during that time so yeah I wanted to spend the time with you all,” Sirius babbled as he watched her stop in the middle of the room.
“Well Bitty Siri, what were you going to show me?” Bella asked in challenge.
“I had a bottle of Black Sand from Santorini Isle,” Sirius said with a big grin on his face.
He didn’t realize what was going to happen when he said that grinning as he was at Bella.
“Well, When i got here I found a lovely Bottle with a black stopper” she said pulling out the bottle of black sand. “And just knew that my bitty cousins didn’t forget me when they went to Santorini and brought me back a bottle of the sands, So this can’t be the same bottle you were talking about now can it?” She said a hard look in her eyes as she watched tears flooding into Sirius’ eyes.
“Yes Bella, that is my bottle of sand,” Sirius said, moving to take the bottle.
Bella was quicker though, pulling the bottle out of reach and dancing back from him. “Now now Bitty Siri, this is MY Bottle of black sand now,” she said as she turned to leave.
“No Bella, it’s mine, give it back,” Sirius said as he ran after her. He went to try and get it back but only found himself watching as the bottle was dropped and it shattered on the floor below.
Sirius cried as he ran towards the stairs but Bella quickly stopped him. She tied him up with ropes and sat him down.
“Now now Bitty Siri you should know better than to forget me when you go anywhere,” Bella said as she patted his face and danced her way down stairs avoiding the shattered glass and sand.
Sirius cried as he sat there tied up. He saw his brothers come to him. “What happened Sirius?” asked Regulus. As they worried as he struggled with the ropes.
“Kreature, Please come free Sirius,” Hadrian said as he watched his brother fighting the ropes.
Hadrian could see the tears in Sirius’ eyes as he struggled against the ropes that once Kreature appeared snapped them off of the young heir. He crumbled as he no longer had the ropes holding him back.
As Hadrian watched he wasn't sure if this would be a good visit today if this was how Sirius was being treated. Hadrian didn't understand what had gotten into Bellatrix but he would not stand for it.
"Don't worry Sirius we won't let her get away with disrespecting you and your gifts from Santorini." Hadrian said as he turned, letting Regulus comfort Sirius. He walked down the stairs as he plotted. He had revenge to get for his big brother.
As Hadrian walked he smirked and called back Kreature. He told him his plan and Kreature agreed as he did not like to see tears on any of the little heirs faces.
Walking he didn't realize he was being watched. Nor the little voice that said. "Oh dear, the wrackspurts will get very heavy soon."
As Hadrian walked he saw Bellatrix sitting next to a young man. He had blonde hair and green eyes. He smiled softly at Bella as they seemed to be having a good time together.
"Are the adults aware you two are so close?" He asked, gettin by Bella.
"That is none of your business little one, so go away," Bella said venom trying to hide behind the sweet tone she was using.
"Just saying if you are not courting I should sit between you and if you are an adult should be here to make sure nothing out of norm happens," he said, smirking a bit. “But I can be a kind cousin if you want to apologize to Sirius for destroying his gift,” He said as he looked at the young man. Hadrian adjusted his cuffs. “Or I can stay here and keep you two chaperoned your choice,” He said as he looked at Bella.
She was furious from the look on her face. “No neither is going to happen as I did nothing to little Sirius’s gifts, He tripped and dropped it, Second I have been going to Hogwarts longer than you have been here little one so I know what is appropriate or not so move now,” she said not bothering to hide her annoyance.
“I was afraid this would happen,” Hadrian said as he sighed and stood up. “If you won’t listen to reason then measures must be taken to ensure that House Black’s reputation is maintained,” Hadrian said as he then called “Kreature, Please ensure that this Daughter of House Black is maintaining proper distances since she knows the rules of the house state she should not be alone with a boy at any time until she is wed,” he looked at her then her boyfriend. “Anything beyond hand holding without a chaperone is a mark against our House, Bella so I only do this to protect you,” Hadrian said as he walked out leaving Kreature behind to chaperone.
He heard her growl as he went to leave. He didn’t look back as he walked. “You know keeping us apart only affects these two weeks,” he heard the male say. “I will be sure to bring that up with my father then that you wish to enter a courting contract if he wishes to have her marry into your family,” Hadrian said as he walked out then and ran right into the young girl that the boy had brought.
“You will only push her into the arms of the wrong lord with these actions,” she said her airy voice keeping it from sounding imposing.
“What do you mean?” Hadrian said as he made sure he had not knocked her over.
“If you take away the love she has now she will be lured to a movement that could cost her everything,” the young girl said.
“I am not taking away her love, Just making sure she realizes that she has a position in this family to uphold and not to get ahead of herself,” Hadrian said, if it happened that she was told that she should slow down or stop meeting this boy that was not his fault.
“Just be prepared the beauty will go crazy and lose her sense of family with the loss of her love and turn to the dark one that is craving power above all else,” the girl said.
Hadrian felt a chill as he listened to the words that were said and shook his head. “It won’t happen,” he said knowing that Bella would not turn her back on her family as it was drilled into them that family was most important beyond all else, this girl was just trying to scare him. He shook his head again and walked off ignoring her words for they were not important.
“Oh dear,” the girl said as she looked after Hadrian. “It seems nothing will sway you from this path,” she finished as she turned and looked at the room where the two teens were. “I should be ready soon to say goodbye,” she said with a little sadness in her eyes.
Hadrian did not think much of the girl’s words as he returned to his brothers who had calmed down Sirius. “I have her being watched by Kreature, so that is one thing. As well as Vasuki decided to stay behind and watch them as well,” he said.
Not long after that being said he heard a scream from Bella. “HADRIAN!” She cried out as it seemed that Vasuki decided that she was not listening and curled around her neck.
“Seems that Vasuki made his presence known,” Hadrian said as he watched the other two laugh a bit.
“Hadrian come down here,” Orion called up as he knew the only one who could call Vasuki away from Bella would be him. “Can you please call Vasuki back to your side, I will have a discussion with Bella about her behavior, But your Familiar should not be used in such a way.” Orion said.
“No Bella your family has a Demoncrown here, I will not put my sister in danger, Thank you for the time here Lord Black but my sister and I will be leaving early,” the young man that had been so keen to kiss and be close to Bella bowed and carefully grabbed the young girl’s shoulders. He pulled her along to the floo and they left. Hadrian had not foreseen that happening but it was all the better. Maybe Bella would not be so cruel now and be the cousin they loved and knew now.
Leaving his thoughts Hadrian walked into the study area and saw that Vasuki was wrapped around Bella like a necklace.
“Come along Vasuki, you don’t need to guard her any longer,” he said in parsel. He smiled as Vasuki uncoiled and made his way to him again.
“Do not ever put your Familiar near me again or I won’t be held responsible for what happens next time little cousin,” Bella said her voice not holding the venom back.
“You will do nothing to Vasuki Bellatrix, you will stay calm and have someone come get him, He is a familiar not a pet,” Orion said from the door. “Now I know that Kreature was called from his duties of getting dinner ready because you decided to try and snog your boyfriend, I will not have you acting like a loose girl Bellatrix, if you wish to court him then ask for that there will be no unsupervised visits with him,” Orion stated as he looked at Bella who seemed to be beyond mad about this now.
“This brat gets to sic his snake on me to force my boyfriend to leave and I am the one in trouble?!” Bellatrix cried out as she fumed at Orion.
Orion looked at Bellatrix and said “That Brat is one of my heirs, are you saying you are better than the future of this house? Are you trying to say you are above the heirs of this house? Bellatrix you are a Daughter of House Black, do I need to have your Aunts remind you of your duty to this house?” He asked her as he held back his temper not wanting to yell at the teen.
“I just wanted to enjoy the holiday’s with my boyfriend but your heir ran him off!” She cried as she watched Hadrian flinch from the loud noise. “Who knows what he is going to do now!” She screamed just to see the self righteous brat suffer. She didn’t care if he was the heir or not he had no right to meddle in something that didn’t concern him.
“Bellatrix you will lower your voice now, you will go to your assigned room and calm down and not leave the room until dinner is served, now go, if I hear you have gone to my heir’s floor I will lock you down with family magic to do as you are told for the remainder of your time here, we are family child and family should stick together over outsiders,” Orion said as he dismissed her to her room which was on the first floor due to normal visits before she went to Hogwarts.
“Hadrian I am sorry you had to hear her scream,” Orion started “But you should have let an adult know what was going on, I will have you also return to your room until dinner and Vasuki must remain in your room until Bellatrix goes home, I will ward the door so no one can enter if they mean to harm your things but this is your punishment alright,” he finished.
Hadrian nodded. “Alright but Bella decided to hurt Sirius by breaking his black sand jar so I made her lose something she loved too, it's only fair after all,” He said walking back up to his room and placing Vasuki into his habitat that was set up for him.
Orion ran a hand over his face. He had been worried that this might start to happen, a rift in the cousins, Bellatrix becoming jealous over the attention that Sirius was getting as Heir. He hoped that they would get through all a few more years before this Jealousy would raise its ugly head. He knew Bellatrix would not give up and would feel resentful if he didn’t take care of it soon. He would have to take her aside later and try to help her work through it.
