Yule Introductions
Presenting one’s heir to their peers is a big step for most Heirs. When they are presented and how they are presented to their peers makes or breaks alliances they can craft. The Heirs work in age ranges when you think about heir groupings. Heirs within 3 years of each other are considered peers while four plus years are considered an Heirs Senior. So the bigger the grouping an heir is presented at the better they can network and connect with those in their heir group or their seniors. Most Heirs would love to be presented at either a grand celebration such as Yule or Beltane or even Imbolic or Samhain. Heirs will also enjoy being able to be presented to their peers at a milestone age such as 7 or 11 due to their magical influences.
----Excerpt from Wizengamot and You by Francis Silverling---
The months since the incident with Sirius stunning Vasuki had been a time for growing for the heirs Black. They got into a few more minor sibling arguments about things that didn’t matter. Sirius and James started to become thick as thieves as the four boys spent time together. Each found they had something in common with the other boys and would spend some time engaging with all of them in said activities. Regulus found himself coming out of his shell more as he had a good friend in his new brother Hadrian. He could always count on him and Vasuki to help them get into some kind of trouble.
It was not until Samhain that things turned. On the night of Samhain, Hadrian had been prepared for the nightmares he normally had on those nights since he was not exhausted enough to pass out instead of sleeping. Regulus and Hadrian had not been allowed to join the Samhain ritual due to the nature of the night but they were allowed to stay up a bit until they naturally fell asleep. They had both bunked down in Regulus’ room, when some time after midnight, Hadrian was thrashing in his sleep. Regulus called Kreature for help, who went to get Lord Black as they were not sure what had set off Hadrian. It was only twenty minutes after that they got Hadrian awake and had him talk about what was going on. He said he could hear a sneer of a voice taunting someone telling them to step aside. He mentioned a flash of green and pain. Other than that he just fell into a nightmare of a whaleman trying to choke him and barely getting away.
After that night they found Hadrian talking with Healer Talpin more often. He talked about his dreams and to help he was given a journal he could tell the dreams to so that he didn’t have to write them down himself. It became a habit after a bad dream or when he was woken from a nightmare he would take five minutes after calming down to speak to his journal alone. Once that was done, he would talk to who helped him wake up to be sure he was alright to go back to bed.
The month of November, when fall started to change the weather, the boys found themselves in longer lessons. They had been told that they would be presented to their peers this coming Yule. So in an effort to help them be prepared, all four boys were taking extra lessons with Lucretia. The Potters, who had not been introduced into society in a while, were surprised at how easily James took to the lessons. He learned his manners and the ways to address others that would be at the Yule ball. It was Regulus and Hadrian that seemed to struggle a little due to their younger age.
It seemed that as Lucretia was teaching the boys, Orion was working on getting them proper robes for the event and finding out who was hosting the event this year. He found that this year it was being held by the Greengrass family who were notably Neutral in the rising conflict. So with a neutral party holding it, he felt more secure introducing his heirs to the society as a whole, and the Potters asked if he would mind introducing James as they had caught a small case of wizarding flu and would not be able to attend. So Orion started to Include James in his negotiations. He knew that Fleamont and Euphemia were both along the older side of being parents due to spell damage that had hit Fleamont. He knew the wizarding flu took longer for older wizards and witches to get rid of due to the need to go to the hospital and have their magic suppressed. They would be quarantined until after Yule which meant that James was a temporary resident of Grimmauld Place.
As Yule grew closer and closer, the excitement of the season hit the boys at different times. Sirius was ready to belt out carols and decorate as soon as they had their first dusting of snow. James was more relaxed and wanted to give the season a little longer to settle in then the first snow dust. The younger two had been excited about Yule since Lucretia explained the traditions associated with Yule. They wanted to find the perfect log to have when they returned home from the party not realizing that there would be a yule log at the party.
As the days turned to weeks, Orion found himself sorting through letters and well wishes for his family. He didn’t want to hide his sons away but it was a near thing as he kept getting letters from the followers of the young Voldermort who wanted to know where he stood on the issue of muggles and muggleborns as well as muggle-raised magicals. He kept escaping having to answer after the first one as they all used a similar wax seal that he could put to the side and ward from the children. He knew that once the children entered the mix, they would have others trying to sway the way they were thinking about different topics. He knew his youngest Hadrian would be the most vulnerable and many times wanted to hide him away from society, as these peers would be adults by the time he returned to his time. But to allow one half of the friendship that was forming between the two 4 year olds without the other would do a disservice to them.
So with those thoughts on his mind, he found himself trying to wrangle 4 active boys as they went to get fitted for their robes. As he stepped into the Tailor shop Twilfitt and Tattings with four heirs that needed robes, he saw Abraxas Malfoy as well as Theodric Nott inside with their sons as well. He pulled the four boys to the side and told them to be on their best behavior now as they were in the eye of the public. The three Heirs Black nodded, understanding this was their only warning and if they broke it there would be lines when they got home and extra lessons with Aunt Lucretia.
“Good Morning Lord Malfoy, Lord Nott, looking at getting new robes for your young heirs?” Orion asked, as he held himself properly and his sons and their friend stood quietly behind him.
“Lord Black, it is an honor to meet you today,” Abraxas said as he looked at Theodric who was watching the children behind Lord Black.
“Well met Lord Black,” Theodric replied as he looked over the Lord of House Black. “I thought you only had three Heirs, or did you take in another cadet family member?” He asked as if it was of no interest to him what brought another child in with Lord Black.
“No, today we are traveling with Heir Potter, he is a friend to all my heirs so when his parents got ill I took him in. They were wishing him to be presented at the upcoming Yule ball that the Greengrass family is hosting,” Orion said, giving them just a touch of information. He saw the moment that the two lords caught that piece of information that Lord Black would be at the Yule Ball. Orion knew that this would be when people would approach him about alliances or contract proposals if the heirs got along.
“I decided that the four of them needed proper robes befitting their houses so that is why we are here today, fittings and picking out the colors for each heir to wear.”Orion said then he nodded to the boys to go look around. Each of the older boys took one of the younger ones to protect them a bit from any older people in the shop. Sirius took Hadrian so that they could talk about Vasuki and how he was doing now that Sirius’ punishment was up he helped occasionally, but he had grown fond of the serpent and wondered how he was doing now when he was not taking care of him. They also talked about different ideas for pranks and jokes.
James had taken Regulus knowing that the younger boy enjoyed talking about the books he read, and recently they were more history books that James had let him borrow. So the two were talking about some of the stories that Regulus had read and how they impacted their culture with the outcome of the stories. It was pleasant conversations that flowed through the shop as they looked at the swatches to see what they liked and what colors were available.
As the boys moved about, the heirs of the other lords watched them, not sure which pair to speak with or if they wanted to speak with them. Lucius Malfoy did not like the unruly hair of two of the boys and judged them on that. He didn’t know which house they were from and he really didn’t care too much as long as they were not the only heir of said house. He just wanted to look proper and be surrounded by those that looked proper as well. He knew that the two with the unruly hair would not make that cut. He looked at the other two and saw they had tamed waves that were falling towards their shoulders. They seemed to take extra care in their appearance so he wouldn’t mind talking with either of them but having to deal with their companions made him feel physically ill.
Theodorus watched as the four boys walked about the shop looking at different materials and colors. He wondered if the younger two understood just what the significance of these choices they were making would be. He wondered if they were just accompanying their brother and his friend and would be presented another time. As these thoughts crossed his mind he could see Lucius starting to judge the messier of the two sets.
“Lucius, don’t judge them until you know their story, their family magic could be that strong that their hair is untamable on a daily basis, you have yet to see them dressed for the ball so calm your judgment down and wait, they could surprise you yet,” Theodorus said as he clasped his hands behind his back.
Lucius looked at his friend and sighed, he was right as he always seemed to be. “Fine Theodorus, I will wait to see how horrible they look at the Ball, if they don’t meet my standards then I will not be forced to do more than greet them as is proper.” He said as he moved to sit in one of the chairs to await his turn.
As Theodorus sighed softly he saw how the older boys were truly protecting the younger ones, it had been smart on their parts to protect them by splitting them up with older children. He knew that two young boys would have been a much too tempting target otherwise. He saw how one of the younger boys touched each fabric carefully as if waiting to be corrected for all the touching he was doing. He wondered what happened to the child to make him so nervous about touching such a clear cut item. He wondered just what happened to the family that he had been taken in from since clearly it was not as the prophet had said, He observed as he was taken for his fitting and could no longer watch the two groups as he had to stand just so.
Orion was proud of his eldest and his friend for taking care of the younger two. He was glad that it had been something he had not had to tell them to do, to protect the younger two. As he watched Theodorus, the Nott Heir, watching his group of young Heirs he was curious what the young Heir was taking in from his heirs. He watched as the Heir Nott talked to Lucius who was the Malfoy Heir. As the Nott Heir was taken for his fitting, he looked at the two groups that his heirs had made. He saw that Hadrian was feeling each sample under the watchful eye of Sirius and Regulus was looking through the colors under the watchful eye of James. He just hoped that the colors they picked would be within the rules they had learned with Lucretia. Somehow she had a meeting of the Daughters of House Black today so none of them had been able to help him guide the boys through this right of passage.
Once the tailor finished with Theodorus, it seemed that the lords that had been here were finished. The two Lords collected their heirs and left the shop. Once they left Orion looked at the boys and called them back to him.
“What can we do for you today Lord Black?” the tailor asked as he looked at the group of young heirs that he was with, and had a feeling it would be four sets of robes.
“We are going to need four yule presentation ball robes, three for the heirs of House Black and one for House Potter,” Orion said quickly, noticing the shocked eyes at the last house name that was given.
“Right away Lord Black, Which heir will we be working with first? House Potter? Or one of the heirs of House Black?” the tailor asked.
Turning to the boys Orion watched then said, “ You can start with House Potter so that he can wait for my eldest Heir and they can keep the younger ones occupied while you work with everyone.” He suggested and saw James nod and step forward.
The tailor started taking the measurements of the Potter Heir. He worked quickly as he made notes for each measurement then asked the question.
“What style are we going for in regards to Heir Potter?” the tailor asked as he looked at Lord Black.
“Do you have notes on what previous Heirs Potter have worn? If so, maybe take a few of those classic elements and craft something new and unique for Heir Potter that would fit with his House’s style for presenting, But I do want it to be something he will be able to move in as he is still a child going to a ball where others of his age range will be present and might have to entertain those younger than himself. Nothing that will wrinkle easily,” were the requirements that Lord Black set forth for the tailor.
“As you wish Lord Black I think I have just the style that would work for this,” he said as he pulled a few pieces of fabric and laid them across the child’s body and let them drape and pin in place. He made sure that there was room for it to be fitted but roomy. He did not want this piece to rip should something happen at the ball.
As the tailor finished with James he saw Regulus move forward to be next. “It seems that my heirs have picked the next one for you. I would like something still fitting House Black but fit for a young child that will want to move about, nothing that will stay wrinkled once pulled straight. Of course we will need House Black colors throughout as well as his personal color of Forest green.” Orion was proud as he watched one of his younger heirs stand still for the tailor like James had done.
The rest of the morning passed without too much trouble from the four Heirs to the noble houses. It seemed that getting fitted for their robes made their Yule Ball presentation more real for them. It made the older two a bit stoic about the situation as they were coming into contact with their peers only knowing each other and not even having met most of the others. For the younger two, it left them being two of the younger years of the heir gathering. They wanted to emulate their older brother but had too much energy in their little bodies. Once they had the colors and fabrics picked for the robes, Lord Black carefully took the four heirs to get a cup of coco before they headed back to Grimmauld Place.
As they walked, Orion kept all four children in front of him and the older two were responsible for holding the hand of one of the younger children. He was not going to have any incidents like what happened when Hadrian had been grabbed by Elderberry not long after they had gotten him settled. It just was not worth the trauma for the young boy. He smiled as he saw the boys whispering together as they ordered their drinks from the normal ice cream shop. During the cold of winter he switched to hot chocolate and other warm drinks to be able to stay open.
As the boys settled at one of the heating charmed seats with drinks in hand, Orion saw Cassieopeia and Lucretia coming towards their little group. “Lord Black,” they both greeted.
“Ladies, how was your brunch today? Did you manage to get everything squared away for Yule?” He asked casually.
“Of course, we just didn’t think it would be that quick for you to have all four of the boys fitted, so we came to help you,” said Cassieopeia as she looked at the young boys.
“We saw the newest generation of the Daughters of House Black, they will be fierce well trained young women, they will represent our house well,” Lucretia said.
“With all the girls right at Hogwarts age it will be an interesting time when everyone gets there,” they said with a small laugh.
“They will rule their house or houses as the queens of their year. Bella is currently second in her classes and she’s gearing up for owls next year so she’s putting in the extra time now to get ready for that. Andromeda is top of her year so far and is making an impact. Narcissa is going to be starting next year so we can’t wait to see how the school handles having three Daughters of House Black at roughly the same time, “ Lucretia said as she smiled. She was happy to see the young Ladies of House Black excelling so far in what they decided to put their minds to.
“That’s good to hear, will all three be at the Yule ball this year?” He asked, curious to know how many other Blacks were going to be at the ball this year.
“Of course, each has picked out two of the prime House Black colors to use with their personal favorite color. Narcissa I believe is going with an Icy blue tone, Andromeda is going with a frosted pink and Bella will be taking a winter green,” stated Cassieopeia.
“Thank you for that information my dear Cassieopeia. Lucretia, I should get the boys home so they can work on their dancing and greetings,” Orion stated as he looked at the look in the eyes of the ladies before him. They were plotting shopping. He took his most needed retreat before they would all be dragged up and down the Alley. He knew they wouldn’t stop at this one either and would try to go to some of the specialty shops on the other alleyways as well. He carefully did not shutter as he gathered the four heirs and took them to the floo.
The rest of the time until the ball was filled with practice for all four of the heirs. They even got to meet the Daughters of House Black so that they could have proper partners for the older boys to practice with for the ball. The day the ball came, Orion was not sure how to feel as the boys were both excited and nervous about what they were about to be doing later that night.
Once the time for getting ready arrived, it was as if chaos descended upon Grimmauld place. Orion saw each of the boys taking time to have a small breakdown privately as they each took turns asking for help with the various pieces of their robes. When it came to final inspections Orion smiled softly at the four heirs that were trying to not pick at their robes. Sirius had all three of the main colors of House Black, the silver had been chosen as the base color as it was also a Yule color as well. The embroidery that was ravens in flight and stars were done in bronze and black. It was a lovely look on Sirius as he stood there as the oldest of the heirs of House Black.
Orion looked at Regulus as he stood there in his dress robes looking every part of being a Heir Black bronze with Forest green trim. His embroidery was done in the black and silver of house Black and his main color had been Bronze. He watched as he finessed the robes to lay just right on his youngest. He was so proud as he watched his second son imitate his older brother.
Looking over the design of Heir Potter, Orion found it was lovely with an array of black silver and purple. The motif that was shown was the crest of House Potter, the Lion raised with wings on its back. He watched as James tried to feel comfortable in the high collar of his robes but knew it would be time that really made them comfortable.
The last to stand before him was Hadrian. He had picked a black based robe but it was the embroidery that made it stand out. Each image was done in a thread that had all three colors he had not picked for his base; it was the deep sapphire, silver and bronze of all his houses. He did not know how the robes had been so perfect having all the secondary colors of all the houses he was heir to within them. He saw how the black blended into the sapphire trim so well it was almost like the night sky was draped around the small boy with starlight stitched into his robes.
With a nod of approval to each, he handed them their cloaks and took them to the floo. Carefully grabbing a pinch of special floo powder he called out the Greengrass estate and opened a path for all four heirs and himself to travel through. Once they arrived Orion looked at the hosts of the Yule ball and smiled softly.
“Greetings Lord and Lady Greengrass, Heir Greengrass,” Orion stated as he bowed to each in turn and kissed the back of Lady Greengrass’ hand much like he had done to Lady Potter when they first met.
“Might I introduce to you the heirs in my keeping,” He said, turning to the four well dressed boys that stood waiting.
“Sirius, my eldest Heir,” Orion said as Sirius moved forward and bowed, mimicking the way his father had greeted the Greengrass Family.
“Regulus my secondary Heir, “ Orion said, calling his son forward, letting him have a moment to greet the Greengrass family. He watched as Regulus also mimicked his brother as he greeted everyone being silent as he paid his respects to the hosting family.
“Hadrian my youngest heir,” Orion continued forward watching as the young boy moved forward and like the ones before him bowed to the males but when he saw Lady Greengrass he went and kissed her hand then stated, “I hope the lady finds the night well and do be careful when toasting tonight,” he then moved to the side and stood with the other two heirs of House Black.
The Greengrass family was a little surprised as they nodded to his warning. Maybe the Lady had still looked a little ill and the little boy was a little more attentive than they thought. With the odd warning given, Orion then turned and said “And finally Heir Potter of House Potter, I will be his guardian tonight as his parents became ill not long ago and asked I stand in their place,” He explained to the host family.
“Welcome to all of you, We will do formal introductions in a quarter of an hour,” Lady Greengrass said smiling.
“I know you won’t be released from your guardian until you are introduced, then our Heir will escort all the heirs to the small ballroom so they can get to know one another without parents interfering, “ she explained with a slight smile on her lips.
When the four heirs finished greeting the host family they moved forward with joining the rest of the members of House Black that were in attendance. He smiled as he watched the older girls gush over his heirs and introduce themselves to the Potter heir. Bella found herself taking care of Sirius, Andromeda took Regulus as her heir of House Black to show around and Narcissa smiled as she took Hadrian as her heir that she would show off and engage with. When the girls thought about it they decided to have James float between the three of them so that he was not left out of the fun for the night.
It did not take long before the host family entered as they did everyone settled down within their own groups. They were waiting to see what the Family had to say before they celebrated.
“Thank you all for coming this year. It has been a wild ride this past year, but to be able to celebrate Yule with friends and family is the greatest gift we can receive,” Lord Greengrass started.
“It is the end of a year with a chance to greet and invite new people into our social circles, I was approached this year to help introduce four heirs to this social gathering of their peers. So it is with a great honor that we give the floor to Lord Black to introduce the four heirs in his company,” Lord Greengrass said as Orion stood and walked to the center of the floor.
“Thank you Lord Greengrass for this honorable moment, Thank you all for your attention right now, May I introduce to you Heir Sirius Black of House Black,” Orion started and stepped to the side and let Sirius step forward. “With him tonight as his Peer is Heir James Potter of House Potter and Miss Bellatrix Black of House Black,” Orion said as the three stepped out together. Bellatrix smiled softly as she had a boy on each arm. She let the group here take the two in as she walked them around the open space and settled near Lord Black when they finished.
Once the trio stopped behind Lord Black he smiled then said “May I also Introduce Heir Regulus Black, With him tonight is Miss Andromeda Black of House Black.,” He said as he moved off the center place to let Regulus have a moment to be observed by the gathered peers. He was careful as he walked with Andromeda making the circle like Sirius, James, and Bella had done. He stopped beside James as they finished the circle and stood there waiting for Hadrian’s introduction.
“And May I Introduce Hadrian Black of House Black, my final heir escorted tonight by Miss Narcissa Black of House Black.” Orion concluded as he watched as Hadrian took careful steps to walk with Narcissa. It was a lovely sight to see Hadrian move about the dance floor allowing everyone to admire his robes as well as the lovely young lady on his arm. He stopped beside Andromeda as they finished their circuit of the dance floor.
“Thank you for this moment to introduce the next generation of heirs tonight, May we all be blessed tonight for Yule has granted us an increase in friends and the closeness of family,” Orion said as he returned the party to a celebration of Yule with that statement.
Once that was finished Gareth Greengrass walked to the introduced heirs and bowed. “Well met heirs of House Black and House Potter,” Gareth greeted a small smile to the young ladies that were helping the young heirs navigate this night. “Daughters of House Black, would you mind helping me escort the heirs to the small ballroom?” he asked.
Bellatrix nodded as she turned with her two and bowed to Lord Black and said “If you will excuse us while I take the heirs to the small ballroom Lord Black, I will keep an eye on them as they mingle,” She said as she got his nod. Carefully she led the two younger boys towards the small ballroom where the other heirs were also gathering. Andromeda and Narcissa did the same as they carefully led the younger heirs. They knew they would be more responsible for their heirs than Bella with her two due to age. As the heirs finally assembled in the small ballroom the age range was about 4th year Hogwarts students down to the youngest being Regulus and Hadrian at 4 years old.
As Hadrian walked into the room he saw many different people around and felt nervous as he looked up at Narcissa not sure what to do as he looked for guidance. “I will take you around to meet some of the other heirs in a moment, okay Hadrian,” Narcissa said, smiling at him. She looked to Andromeda and they seemed to nod as if they knew what they were going to be doing now.
It did not take long for Narcissa to find them a small group to talk with, It had Heirs of Malfoy, Nott, Fawley, and Lestrange standing together. She stood there as she watched Hadrian listening to the conversation.
“I am not saying that the muggleborn students need to be excluded from our classes but it is getting harder to keep explaining the simple things that a wixen born knows or gains from lessons before Hogwarts. Trying to explain to them not everyone is entitled to being heirs or that everyone will have the same power level is exhausting,” Lestrange said as he watched the others.
“I think a mandatory culture class should be implemented from first year and get more in depth until we take our O.W.L.S, that way they learn why some of us observe certain times of the year differently and it would allow them to learn about the gift they have been given by being able to come to the school, not everyone who has magic is strong enough or can grow enough to be invited to study,” Heir Fawley said as he ran a hand down his robes as if dusting off some invisible dirt.
“Even if they got a culture class from their first year, they would claim we wixenborn should have to take Muggle studies as a counterpoint. I do think a proper updating to the course needs to be done since from what some of the muggleborn have said it is not up to date with the information it is providing, Maybe a blended class would be better so we could see where the cultures differed and how they evolved down the paths they are on now would be better and possibly allow us to teach the muggleborns why we don’t celebrate Christmas and choose to celebrate Yule,” Lucius said as he looked at the younger child that was now in their circle and nodded a quiet acknowledgement to Narcissa.
“But Muggles cannot be that complex,” Heir Lestrange started as a counterpoint.
“But like the muggleborns say, their society is changing just as ours does so you cannot say they are not as complex they are just different from ours being non magical, they have had to learn how to cope with what life has thrown at both societies without the aid of magic. So that is not a very clever argument. I do agree with Heir Malfoy, we need to teach the Muggleborns but with so many of our traditions being stripped away from us, how can we teach them when it is beginning to become against the law to practice our own culture?” Heir Nott said softly as he watched the other heirs of his group nodding.
“Change the rules,” Hadrian said suddenly, which drew the eyes to him.
“We are still not able to do that as we are only the heirs,” Lucius said.
“Then talk with those that can change the rules, they are your parents right?” Hadrian said as he watched them all nod. “They should listen to those being most affected by the rules they make, if they don’t listen now we could lose a big part of our history and culture,” Hadrian said softly as he felt the boy’s eyes wondering if it was just so simple.
“I believe Heir Black is right, we should talk to our fathers before the end of Yule break and see if they will help us be heard, maybe we can talk with the governors of Hogwarts as well to state our need for these basic classes,” Lucius said as he looked everyone who nodded and looked a little hopeful.
“You just have to appeal to them the right way. Research might need to be done before you approach them but get the conversation started, trying to make our culture more inclusive should not mean our culture should be completely replaced by the muggle culture. We are not the same societies, we should be allowed to practice the religious practices we wish to, not muggle holidays that eclipsed our own to eradicate our people and caused us to bring about the statute of secrecy,” Narcissa said as she saw the males nod.
Across the room James and Sirius were being introduced to the heirs of Selwyn, Avery, Longbottom, and Travers.
“You can’t think that Muggleborns should have to give up their heritage just because they come into the wixen world, that’s like saying that we should forget magic if we have to step foot into the muggle world, it’s not right,” the Heir Avery said as they stood there arms crossed.
“But without even attempting to learn our culture is not a good impression with any of the wixen born,” Heir Selwyn said then added “Why come in to learn magic if they just want to leave back to the magicless otherside? Why bring those hateful holidays that celebrate a made up religion that caused many of the children to be harmed by their parents? Why can’t they give our world a chance to share what makes it magical and then the wizengamot is trying to entice them to stay by making our culture illegal? How is that fair? How is that teaching them what is the best part about our world if we can not even show them or have them experience the rituals that so many of us grew up with? No where else in the world is our culture SECOND to the muggleborns culture, they are expected to give our world a chance and if they cannot and plan to leave they have their magic bound so that they cannot accidentally expose us,” Heir Selwyn ranted as they watched the rest in their circle nod.
“But why not after their first accidental magic have them spend some of their time with a wixen family?” Sirius said. “Bring them into our world sooner so they can learn like we do before we go to Hogwarts?” he asked.
“Because requiring them to actually have to spend time with us before they invade at age 11 is too much on the muggle parents, or at least that’s the arguments that are being said by some of those that keep striking down the laws that are being proposed. To bring a child into our world and teach them things that they cannot speak about is too much pressure on a growing mind, like they are not held to the statute of Secrecy at age 11,” Heir Selwyn said, almost disgusted with the double standards and inconsistency that is being said around.
James thought about it for a moment then asked “Why not have them spend one weekend a week with a host family?” James continued. “ With their parents so that they are not just worrying about their child and get an idea of what’s going on with the world that their child is joining?”
“Again why should the muggles be allowed to learn that much about our world when they cannot benefit from the knowledge and how do we keep them from sharing what they are learning with the world?” said Heir Travers.
“A vow of silence around the knowledge, they can be walked through it and the spell cast upon them to keep them from sharing with those that are not in the know,” Sirius countered as he watched the heirs.
“To many people want to claim it’s too cumbersome having to deal with muggles for even 8 hours to start introducing their child to the world they will be apart of, but other countries normally take a muggleborn from their parents as soon as magic is detected, so that we are not that barbaric as some would say we don’t take them away from the muggle world so we leave them in ignorance and expect them to try to learn when they come in at age 11. Not the best solution but it's the only way that most have figured to handle muggle borns. We do need a better system but no one can agree how to handle bringing the muggleborns into our world,” said Heir Longbottom.
“Why not start a primer school to be able to start teaching the muggleborns? Have half their day be their normal lessons then have half the day be in a time bubble that would allow them to learn their wixen studies as well?” offered James and Sirius, working the idea out between them.
“I do believe that might be a good suggestion and the primer classes could be open to all so that they can learn and mingle with wixen born and non wixen born possibly. It would be worth a try if we could get the adults to come up with the idea for the primer school,” Bella stated as she was proud of both of the heirs she was standing with. If this were the ideas they had at only 6 years old, then it would be a good idea to start now and see with the upcoming generation what they could do about making the muggleborns want to stay in the wixen world and breathe new magic into the bloodlines here.
One of the other groupings was where Andromeda and Regulus were standing and listening to the Heirs Greengrass, Bulstrode, Macmillian, Rosier and the twin heirs Prewett.
“Really now, have you read about how the rising Dark Lord is causing trouble in the muggle world and making so much more work for our ministry?” Asked one of the Prewett heirs
“It really is a shame how disorganized it feels that our ministry is when trying to work alongside the muggle government. I mean our Aurors have to obliviate the police to hide the evidence of our world from muggles,” The second Prewett heir finished.
“Why should we have to do anything other than make evidence of our world disappear?” Heir Blustrode said flippantly, looking bored with the conversation.
“Because using something as strong as obliviate on the muggle mind has been proven to possibly take more than just the localized memories containing magic, so something that happened between the magic laced memories gets forgotten and causes trouble like misplaced files or not knowing the answers to give in other court cases,” said Heir MacMillian
“Should it really be something we should care about? I mean what can muggles really do in the face of magic? Why should we not use the advantage we have to make ourselves disappear from their minds if the need arises?” asked Heir Rosier as they watched the twins curiously.
“Because it can cause criminals to get free, and if criminals get free, they could attack wixen who are trying to blend into the muggle world and then we still risk exposure,” said the twins in unison.
“Why not use muggleborns or squibs to bridge the gap?” asked Regulus as he looked at the older heirs.
They looked down at the small Heir Black then looked back to each other.
“You know that’s not actually a bad idea, someone in the know about magic being able to alert the Aurors about possible breaches of the statute. So having them being the lead on the cases would allow criminals to not go free and cause trouble later on as well as being able to hide wands should they need to be hidden,” said Heir Greengrass as he smiled to the young Heir.
“It does give some use to those magicless ones that come up from time to time, they would be born in the know and when they need to be cast off they can be given a proper task to protect their more privileged brethren,” Heir Bulstrode, as they gave a very dark slant to their view of the world.
“That’s a very negative view of squibs, they might not have active magic but they have magic that allows them to use so much of the magical world’s inventions, why should they be cast aside so recklessly? Why would you call them useless just because their magic decided to support them internally instead of being able to be used actively?” asked the twins prewett as they narrowed their eyes at the Heir Bulstrode.
“Now now let's not get too deep into the debate of how to treat squibs, we do not have enough hours in this night left,” Said Heir MacMillian as they tried to cut off the fight that was brewing between the Prewetts and Bulstrode. He sighed as he looked at Bulstrode and then pointedly at the young heir that was in the circle which only got them an eye roll.
“Fine fine, so maybe the Ministry could work a bit better with the muggles to make life a bit easier for them and keep our existence secret,” the Bulstrode heir said as they realized that they would not win any argument in this group, to many neutrals or light raised wixen in the group.
“If a young Heir can see this solution why has none of the adults in the Ministry come up with this solution? If they were to give the muggleborns the option to be able to bridge this gap and help keep the secret of magic safe wouldn’t that allow them to feel apart of the community better?” asked Andromeda as she pointed out that if the youngest could find a simple solution why couldn’t the adults.
“Very true, why can’t they seem to find the easiest solution to our biggest problem?” asked the prewett twins talking in twin speak on this one statement.
Within the different groups everyone started to wonder how much more in depth the Black Heir’s lessons were to bring this much of thought after only hearing a few statements about the current social aspect of their community and how they were becoming disillusioned to muggle borns and their rejections of the wixen culture without knowing it.
