Letters between Lords
When addressing others of the Nobility it is always important to know where you stand in the Hierarchy of the Noble Houses. The oldests are granted the title of Most Ancient and Most Noble House of Family name, One such would be Most Ancient and Most Noble House of Black which has been in the wizarding community since the establishment of the Wizengamot. They are considered one of the first Noble houses after the Founders of Hogwarts. It is said that they are only out ranked by the Royal Houses which have long since been dormant and only Mother Magic could bring back. As you look upon the rankings of the Noble houses of the British Nobility do not forget that within each house is their own hierarchy some houses like the Prewetts have Magical Twin Lords or Ladys, and can only be claimed by a pair of twins. For a ranked listing of the Noble houses of the Wizengamot See the seating chart on page 193.
----Excerpt from Wizengamot and You by Francis Silverling---
Orion had been filtering out the well wishers from those just looking to join the House of Black even if it was through marriage. He saw so many proposals for Hadrian’s hand he shoved them over to the side. How could anyone think about marriage in the future to a child that just lost their parents? He knew each one would be denied and the denial filed with the proper authorities.
All Orion wanted to do now was talk with the current Lord Potter, Fleamont, and see if they could work out a way to have their sons meet, and possibly let Hadrian meet his grandparents without knowing them as such. He would have enough trouble not wanting to be around the Potter Heir, but there was enough time difference that when Hadrian did return home he would leave with memories of those that might not be there and that was something that Orion wanted to give the child.
“He has suffered enough and will lose his family all too soon so why not give these to him while I can.” Orion said to his empty office as he went and drew out a piece of parchment. He would have to draft a letter to Lord Potter.
Orion knew that House Black was not far off in ranks from House Potter but it would still need to be a formal request letter for a coming to terms between the two houses, and possibly a minor oath to keep any extra information he shared about Hadrian safe. He didn’t want the fact that the child was from the future to get out, it would just cause issues and he had already given him the protections of House Black.
So with the idea of what he needed to accomplish in mind, Orion set about writing the letter to Fleamont. He just hoped that Fleamont would accept his proposal for the meeting between them first and figure out a date that worked best for both parties for the Heirs to meet later on.
Lord Potter,
I know that times are dark but I hope this letter finds you in good health and an agreeable mood.I have important matters to discuss with you in person and am hoping to meet in a safe place to discuss such matters. I do not wish to put too many details into this letter should this letter fall into undesirable hands. Please owl me back at your earliest convenience.
Lord Black
As Orion looked over the letter, he found it to the point and just enough details to catch someone’s attention and possibly entice them to meet with him. He carefully folded it up and addressed the letter to Lord Potter. He then called for Kreature.
“Lord Black summons me?” Kreature said as he appeared in Orion’s office.
“Yes Kreature, please get this letter to Lord Potter. It is for an important matter, do not delay sending it off,” he said as he saw Kreature nod and take the letter and disappear with it. Now it was time to work on other paperwork for House Black while he waited.
After the letter was tied to the owl’s leg it quietly took off into the blue-gray sky. It made sure to reach the clouds quickly so that the non magical eyes would not be able to follow it or notice anything odd about it as it took off in the day towards the English countryside. Following a path that only the wind seemed to know, the owl found its way to Potter Manor. As it began its descent towards its delivery point, beautiful sprawling grounds laid before it, Green houses tucked away behind a tall building that seemed to be built of beautiful stone. It had a gate which held lions facing and protecting the entry point for the human guests, while upon the turrets of the manor were lovely carved ravens looking to take flight stationed about the upper eaves of the manor where gargoyles would sit should they have been in a muggle homestead.
As the owl approached, it found the window that would allow it entry. It was careful as it went through the beautiful magical window that depicted a lovely night hunt for an owl. It spiraled down until it reached the place it was to deliver the letter. As the owl came down to a perch in the corner of an office, it set eyes upon Lord Potter. He sat there wild brown hair only partially tamed by the length and slicking back that had been done. It watched the man as he looked up and smiled fondly at the owl.
“Got a letter for me there lovely?” he asked as he moved towards the perch and watched as the trained owl held out its leg waiting patiently for him to remove the letter that was there.
Hazel eyes took in the bird and the letter as it was removed, ridding the bird of its burden. “Take a rest there little one, I’ll have a treat brought to you shortly,” Fleamont said as he looked at the handwriting on the letter.
Carefully turning the letter over he saw the three raven seal of house Black holding the letter closed. With a shake of his head Fleamont opened the letter and saw Orion’s request. He was curious what Orion would have to talk to him about that would require a face to face meeting but he didn’t mind meeting up with an old friend.
Orion,
It’s good to hear from you again old man. You have piqued my interest about what you wish to discuss with me. Do you have a location picked out? If so, owl back with location and time and I will meet you there.
Fleamont
With a small flourish Fleamont signed his response and sealed it with the Potter crest. He took a moment to look at the lovely bird that was still sitting there drinking and nibbling from the treats provided by his houselves.
“When you are feeling rested I have a response for you to return with if you would be so kind,” Fleamont said to the bird, which fluffed its feathers ready to take the reply back with haste. Carefully attaching it to the owl Fleamont set the bird off on its return journey and hoped all would be well.
Orion was finishing up some of his other pressing paperwork when the Owl returned to Grimmauld place. He saw Fleamont’s distinct writing looking back at him as he read through the letter. He knew a place that would allow them to sit and talk and had already set the reservation for lunch. He took a moment as he pulled out one more sheet of parchment.
Lord Potter,
I do happen to have such a place in mind. It was where we made our first business arrangement. I will be there at noon tomorrow.
Lord Black
Orion let the reply be sent back to Fleamont as he gathered the modified version of all the blood tests to protect Hadrian. He wanted to make sure that Fleamont could see the connection the boy had with his family and would be willing to meet the child. He wondered if bringing him close to his future father and grandfather would help his magical core grow to a degree, as it seems that they were not around in the future if his trip back to now was anything to go by.
Now he only had to get the Potter Lord to agree to a meeting of their children and keep Hadrian’s connection a secret. There were too many things at stake now for him to make any mistakes regarding his newest heir’s safety.
