Excitement of a new Year at Hogwarts
About 10 months later....
The months passed quickly and Regina learned a lot at Hogwarts. She attended the classes, was loved by staff and students, and developed a special bond with Severus. Every night she was taught by the professors and Dream. Not only could she now master earth and air magic, but she was also proficient in water magic. The only element she had to learn was fire, but Dream thought she was too young and Reggie had learned that Dream had her best interests at heart and was happy to wait. Every month, Death came by to catch up and occasionally brought Lily or James for Reggie.
With Voldemort and Barty, not everything went as it should. Death and Dream had discovered that Barty and Voldemort wanted to make a homunculus. To prevent this, but not to get in the way of the prophecy, Dream caused Barty to have intense nightmares every night and could hardly rest. Death in turn appeared with some regularity and viewed the young man who had possessed Voldemort from a distance, which Voldemort then sensed. In panic they then fled again, only to be ravaged again in the night by Dream.
It was August at the moment in the Waking World and piping hot. Barely any wind, no rain to speak. To flee the heat, Reggie and Dream decided to stay in the Dreamlands. Reggie was perched on Dream’s shoulder.
The past month she and Dream had been on several trips around the world, to see the sights and to deepen their band further and at this moment they were walking in the Dreamlands, near Fiddler’s Green. ‘I was wondering…you know where he is right? So why not do to him what you did to Dumbledore? Maybe I don’t have to fight him then?’ Reggie mused. She really did not want to fight the man that murdered her parents, thank you very much. Life was good. She had no desire to become a killer, even though he would deserve it.
Dream sighed deeply and stared at the trees. ‘It is not that simple. Believe me, if there was a way for me to do what you asked, I would. I do not relish in the thought that you and that monster will come face to face.’ He sat down in the meadow and Reggie moved over to his knee, so she could look at him. ‘Stupid prophecy,’ she muttered.
Dream stroked her feathers and nodded. ‘Stupid as it seems, but it would be more stupid to ignore the thing altogether. For now, it Is my pleasure to torment them.’
‘Did you know…Draco is attending Hogwarts this year.’ Turning his galaxy-colored eyes back to the bird on his knee, he tilted his head. ‘He is the son of Lucius Malfoy.’
Dream nodded and told her he knew. ‘You are not happy about this?’ Ravens cannot blush. But if that had been possible, Reggie would be beet red now. She looked uncomfortable and Dream suddenly realized that she would not mind seeing Draco more. Damn it. When did this happen? She was way too young to be thinking about this.

At Malfoy Manor, a certain white-haired boy was perched on his window still and looked out over the lands. This was the year he would be accepted at Hogwarts. His father was the DADA teacher, his mother would visit often and he would be near his Godfather Severus. Of course, he was excited to finally get his wand and starting the lessons, but even more exciting was the fact that the little bird that was always in Severus’ quarters would be there.
His mother had told him who the bird really was, so Draco could help her any way he could. Having met Reggie a few times already, Draco was certain she would have been in Slytherin House. She was cunning, sneaky when she needed to be, and always up to mischief. The other raven, her name was Isis, was a bit more intimidating, but she had allowed Draco to stroke her feathers. He could not wait to introduce Reggie to Blaise, Theo, Vince and Greg. He had his doubt about Pansy, but he was sure Daphne would love the bird to.
The door opened and his mother walked in. ‘Should you not be asleep, my Dragon?’ He smiled a bit sheepishly and walked over to his bed. ‘Can’t sleep.’ His mother hummed and sat down on the edge of the bed, while Draco laid down. She adjusted his blankets and looked over in fond expiration. ‘Thinking about school?’ Draco nodded. ‘Will we go to buy everything, tomorrow Mother?’
Narcissa smiled again and gave her only son a kiss on his forehead. ‘I will talk with your father. If he has the time, we will go tomorrow. You know he is very busy with his lesson plans and the Wizengamot meetings. Because Lucius was a full-time teacher, he had offered his voting right to Narcissa. This had caused quite an uproar, for society wives had no place in the government. Of course, there were women there, like the Dowager Longbottom and Amelia Bones, but the Daily Prophet had a field day when Narcissa showed up and calmly stated she would be the proxy for her husband. The first few meetings were a bit awkward, because people hoped she would make a mistake. But when that didn't happen, the gossip mostly stopped. In the evenings, Lucius was home when possible, and he and Narcissa discussed the issues to be voted on.
After tucking her son in, Narcissa walked to her own bedroom and got ready for bed. Tonight she expected Lucius home later. It was summer vacation. He was busy maintaining his business contracts and had a business dinner. She smiled. Life was good. They had overcome the misery of the Dark Lord and were happy. Draco was not going to become a soldier in his army and die a pointless death. Over the past few months, she had been cautiously approaching her sister Andromeda, hoping for a reconsolidation and she hoped that as Draco learned to see Muggles and Muggleborns differently, people would see that anyone could change.
