Junko Enoshima's ghost smiles, and does not answer.
No matter how much she asks her, it is the one thing she does not say, does not answer. Despair fills Mikan up like a powder keg set to blow, like a carbonated can shaken. And still, Junko doesn't answer.
“Mikan-senpai, do you remember what I said about oranges?” She asks her, instead, eyes sparkling with her mischief. Mikan feels like she may cry; she nods, she answers, because what else is she to do? “I eat them not because I like them, but because I don't. I guess you were like that, huh? And you knew it, I know. Only I could forgive you, because only I could love something as unlikable, as despairing, as you.”
Mikan nods. She knows this. She always knew this. It's the only love she will ever get.
“But I didn't want to eat you, love.” She answers her without answering a thing. “I wanted you to eat yourself.”
