Chapter 1
Very few campers were on the border where the Hades siblings arrived with Firenze. Nico headed to the cabins as Hari pointed out the Big House. She was about to get off when Firenze started towards it without letting her down. More then one camper watched them move through the camp towards the Big House. There was already a Hermes kid running ahead of them. Hari saw The Ares Cabin mobilizing, most of the camp was already here. Hari and Nico were the late ones.
Chiron came out of the Big House in his wheelchair, Hari frowned as she very rarely saw him use it. “New Campers?” Hari asked
They all jumped having failed to notice her for all she clashed against Firenze’s Palomino colouring.
“Hari… Why do you get to ride a centaur?” Someone whined
Firenze looked at her and chuckled, she was blushing as she refused to look at him. Hari took the chance when he stopped to slide off. Firenze attempted to offer her a hand but she was ahead of him. She soon enough stood there shifting her bag embarrassed.
“Princess, is it truly that bad?” Firenze asked smiling
“It’s not that.” Hari stated still blushing “But that’s the second time you’ve had me ride on your back. I know Chiron has only ever done it with Rachel.”
“You’re teasing her.” Chiron stated shaking his head “When did you let her ride you? Let alone why do you address her as Princess?”
“Good to see you too Grandfather.” Firenze stated with a snort, “I saved her life once when she was eleven, we were in a very dangerous forest when I found her. It was faster for her to ride. Also, why shouldn’t I address her as Princess? She is a crown heir.”
Hari wasn’t looking at anyone as her ears were turning red. Saying it herself was different then having a professor of hers announce it. There were more eyes on her then she wanted.
Chiron raised an eyebrow at her. “Warning would have been nice” Chiron then looked at his grandson “Welcome to Camp Half-blood Firenze, I could use the help right now.” Chiron led the way to the table set to the side of the porch. “What brought you?” he asked as Firenze ducked under the trim and dodging the things hanging underneath with Hari not far behind.
“My herd kicked me out for siding with humans last year. Hogwarts was allowing me to teach Divination for some time, but I saw no reason to stay. When the Princess offer to bring me here, I saw no reason to refuse.” Firenze explained as he laid down on the lounge chair cushion a satyr brought him.
Hari was sitting on the railing as Chiron settled at the table in his wheelchair. Chiron looked at Hari who just shrugged with a half smile, making Chiron sigh in response. They ended up playing cards while Firenze and Hari explained everything.
Meanwhile Nico was walking to the cabin to drop his gear. Hedwig took off to go torment the local mouse population in the strawberry fields. When he looked up, Nico saw Percy running up to him grinning, moving like he was going to spread his arms. Nico seized up and put shadow rope lassos around Percy’s chest pinning his arms down so he couldn’t hug him. Jason or the others hugging him, alright… Percy? No way in Hades. Percy pouted as he was flailing his hands around, he could still bend his arms at the elbows.
“Don’t hug me!” Nico yelled as he was blushing ever so subtly.
Percy ginned and started running towards Nico intending to hug him anyway.
Nico looked terrified. “Annabeth!” Nico yelled in panic as he took off running for the camp. Dante didn’t seem to understand the game but chased after Nico anyway.
Annabeth looked up from the book she’d been reading near the cabins. She saw Percy looking like an idiot chasing Nico around with his arms pinned to his sides waving his hands in front of him. All with a miniature Cerberus with all three tongues hanging out running with them.
“He looks like a dinosaur” Jake stated as he was sitting nearby with Will patching up his latest burn from a prototype going haywire.
“A Percy-rex!” The Stoll brothers yelled leaning nearby having come to check out what the screaming was about.
There was giggling as Percy heard them and started making dinosaur noises too. The wrong one, but that just made everyone laugh harder. Nico hid behind Annabeth, vaulting over the rocks she was sitting on to do so. Percy smiled and went to hug her then frowned flailing his arms some more… “T-rex have no game… no wonder they died out.”
Annabeth sighed rolling her eyes even as she smiled. She proceeded to push Percy backwards with a hand on his chest. They all smiled at the panicked look that cross his face when he realized his arms were caught and he couldn’t catch himself. They left him laying on his back on the ground. That’s when Dante decided to lick him. Percy made strange noises again.
“Are you staying at camp all summer?” Annabeth asked as they walked away from a now turtled Percy who was yelling for help and kicking his legs trying to get himself up. Dante was chasing after Nico leaving Percy slobbered on.
“Not all summer. I wanted to check up with a few people. That and I was working on something. I was thinking of completing it for a present.”
“Present?”
“Yeah, I’m going to a wedding next month. Sis is the bridesmaid.”
“What is she going to be wearing?” Annabeth asked her eyes bright like most girls when the topic came up.
“A golden dress. That was the plan last I heard but that could have changed since Christmas.”
“Do you like the couple?” Annabeth asked
“Bill is awesome. He’s like an older brother to both of us. He just adopted us into the family without thought.” Nico was excited as he started talking with his hands. “Fleur… I swore she was an Empousa. Then it turns out she’s more like a siren in effects. Her other nature is actually some sort of fire-oriented bird monster out of Slavic folklore.”
“Is she dangerous?” The worry crossed Annabeth’s expression slightly
“Aren’t all girls?” Nico asked confused
Annabeth bit her lip then burst out giggling. “Not what I meant” she gasped out
“No, she’s only a quarter Veela and keeps it under control. Bill is pretty much immune to it, but he’s also a curse-breaker and a tomb raider, which is really cool by the way!”
Annabeth giggled as Percy finally caught up with them grinning as he had an arm thrown around Annabeth’s shoulders. “Glad you’re having fun over there.” Percy said truthfully
Nico went to say something then blushed. “Did you meet someone?” Annabeth asked
“Yes” He turned bright red ducking his head.
“What’s she like?”
“He is Sweet, a bit of a stickler for the rules, but he’s relaxing slightly thanks to Hari. He’s got an odd sense of humor.”
“Is he better looking then me?” Percy asked having caught the ‘He’ part, that actually startled Annabeth, Percy just naturally accepted it. It didn’t even faze him in the slightest.
Nico actually considered it much to Annabeth’s horror and sudden understanding. “Yes, but he’s Handsome… you’re…”
“Hot?” Mitchell one of the Aphrodite kids said grinning making everyone blush, including Percy.
“I wasn’t going to say That!” Nico yelled at him very red and annoyed.
“That’s why I did” Mitchell stated loudly as he walked past with something in his hands.
“You mean you actually found someone that can compete with Percy on hotness scale?” Miranda stated shocked having caught the conversation.
“Yes, and he was single.” Nico gushed a little with a smile on his face.
Miranda whistled “Nice Catch.”
That’s when they saw the first re-enactment of Percy’s T-rex. It went through camp within the day and every time anyone said ‘T-rex got no game’ everyone in hearing range burst out laughing. The ones actually there harder then most.
Hari came over from dealing with the centaurs looking a little confused even as she greeted Dante who ran up to her barking “What’s with all the dinosaur noises?”
“Percy” Annabeth stated
“Okay? Being a Drama Queen again or something else?”
“He was chasing me around trying to hug me.” Nico stated as they reached their cabin to drop their stuff off and slightly unpack. Nico gave her the full explanation while blushing sitting cross-legged on his bed with Dante’s heads in his lap. Hari laughed.
The Hades siblings actually properly spent time at camp, including Percy actually teaching Nico how to swim while Hari was laughing as she was learning how kayaking worked. Cabin inspections usually required someone to knock on their door and wake them up, even if it was Hari’s turn to do the inspections. Not that they stayed there the whole time, not when Hari was dealing with a panicky bride, a fussing Molly, and she was still planning for the whole taking out Voldemort thing. Nico and her were still trying to get the gift for the pair ready. All with Dante growing so much he took up most of Nico’s bed.
Then a new problem came in. “Have you actually asked Jason to go as your date to the wedding?”
“Cazzo!” Nico swore as he looked at her.
“I’ll cover” Hari stated tossing him something “Give that to Blaise if you can.”
“He’s invited too, right?”
“Yes, Fleur told me to bring him.” Hari stated “I talked to him about it before school ended.”
Nico grabbed a hoodie from his bed and shadow travelled. Dante right behind him. Nico arrived near the Temple of Pluto. He’d been visiting Hazel every other week or so since she’d joined Camp Jupiter. Nico had become an almost fixture in the camp, not that Nico would say that his father sent him there as an ambassador. Hari knew about it but had never actually been to this camp.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The camp was training. Jason was supervising with Reyna when a messenger was running to them panicked. “A Cerberus… in the camp. It’s chasing… a stranger in… one of our hoodies.” The messenger panted out.
“Does the stranger look like he just rolled out of bed?” Jason asked unconcerned
“Yes, possible out of the Underworld too…” The messenger admitted
“It’s fine. You just saw Dante.”
“Dante?” Reyna asked raising an eyebrow at him.
Jason blushed a little bit making a few people stare. “Yeah, I guess you haven’t met him yet.” Jason saw what had the messenger freaking out. Jason after all could see past the aura, he also recognized that oversized hoodie as his own. “Nico” he smiled as the Son of Pluto ran to him looking a little winded as he arrived.
“Hey” Nico grinned
Jason bent down so his cute boyfriend could kiss him on the cheek because he was still nervous about other public affection. “I wasn’t aware you knew about Camp Jupiter.” Jason said
“Hazel’s here.” Nico stated “She’s another sister.”
“Hazel… She’s fifth Cohort?”
“Yep, that’s her.” Nico nodded even as Jason reached around him to ruffle the ears of the three heads whining at him for affection. “What brought you to camp?”
“The wedding.” Nico said almost excited
Reyna stiffened “Right, I forgot about that.” Jason muttered
“Would you go as my date? I really don’t want to be left alone with the rest of them. The twins are only so much of a buffer.” Nico asked looking a little desperate
“Of Course, but I don’t have a gift or anything.”
“I’ve already got that covered.” Nico stated
“When is it again?”
“August First.”
Jason looked at Reyna as if asking permission. She sighed “You can go, the Feast of Fortuna has already passed.” She stated shaking her head
“Feast of Fortuna?” Nico asked looking confused and cute.
“It’s the 24th of June, it’s what decides the camp’s luck for the rest of the year.” Jason explained
Nico raised an eyebrow at that. “Never let Hari attend…” Jason snorted turning away to laugh into his fist. Reyna looked confused as Nico smiled pleased with himself.
“Ambassador of Pluto, I’m surprised you let yourself be seen this time.” Reyna stated
Nico shrugged “I wasn’t hiding before; it just freaks people out if I’m seen too often.” Reyna took that explanation even if Nico had become something of a ghost story around the camp.
“By the way, am I ever getting my hoodie back?” Jason asked as Nico and him walked towards New Rome.
Nico looked down at the purple hoodie he was wearing as if he hadn’t seen it before. “Oops… I meant to give it back after I washed it…”
Jason chuckled. They walked towards Terminus and Nico frowned at the talking marble bust, he’d never actually been in New Rome, he usually only came to the temples to see Hazel, he hadn’t exactly interreacted with the camp itself.
“Weapons”
Nico frowned as Jason put his gold coin on the tray. Nico looked at him then sighed pulling the knife off his belt, sheath and all then patted his pockets to make sure there wasn’t anything else… “does my wand count?” Nico wondered
“Yes” Terminus stated
“I left mine in the drawer beside my bunk.” Jason stated as he hadn’t used it since he returned. He’d had a week to prepare for the Feast of Fortuna when he’d gotten back. Reyna was not impressed but accepted it. Octavian was pissed through. Octavian also had it in for him since he’d become Praetor.
Nico put his wand on the tray beside his knife. Nico trembled feeling unusually vulnerable. He’d never been truly without a weapon since that first day at Camp Half-blood. “We’re all unarmed. It’s a safe place Nico.” Jason said putting his hand on Nico’s lower back making him jump. They walked into the city, Jason leading the way to one of his favorite bakeries in the city. Nico followed him as Dante was left whining at the gates as he classified as a monster so he couldn’t enter. They had a nice day, Nico even dropped off what Hari gave him to Blaise. Telling Blaise, he was expected at the wedding too.
They returned to the gates, Nico was reaching for his knife and wand before anything else. He then went to his whining puppy whose tail started wagging ferociously as he yipped happily from all three heads with their tongues out. The heads then proceeded to slobber all over Jason’s hoodie with Nico still in it.
“Nico, aren’t you capable of defending yourself without a weapon?” Jason asked tucking his coin into his pocket.
“That’s not the point!” Nico stated with a small glare “It’s not a matter of being able to defend myself so much as knowing I have something that…” He couldn’t say, so he had something that he knew would kill and block anything sharp coming at him. Or more it was used as a focus so his power didn’t do the same as it had when he summoned Theseus. He shuttered.
Jason frowned not understanding but didn’t argue as he wrapped his boyfriend in a hug from behind. Nico relaxed into him. Anyone watching would have called them cute or adorable. Even if Nico looked like he’d walked out of the Fields of Punishment.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The week before the wedding arrived. Everyone helping with set-up was conglomerating at the Burrow. Nico grinned seeing the twins and Bill. Hari didn’t even have time to say ‘Hi’ to the boys before Fleur, Mrs. Weasley, and Ginny were dragging her into the house.
Nico blinked as something got thrown at him, it was Hari’s bag “Tents” she called as she was being dragged into the house. Nico was already pulled his wand out.
“Aren’t you worried about the trace?” George asked
“Trace?” Nico asked as this seemed to be new to him.
“Yeah, the no magic outside of school until you turn seventeen.” Bill explained
Nico blinked “We have a trace on us?”
“Our wands but yes.” Fred stated
Nico frowned “Then how do we use magic at camp and not get in trouble…” Nico considered it “Maybe it’s because we’re in the states rather then the UK.”
“No… it tracks you overseas… How have you never noticed?” Bill asked
Nico shrugged “Maybe the gods were blocking it. The wards on the camp would account for everything.”
“Camp?” the twins asked in unison
“We go to a summer camp.” Nico stated then didn’t elaborate as none of these people quite realized what they were, except the twins who looked stunned.
“So, it’s for people with… you know what…”
“Yes” Nico said then looked around “Where can I set up our tents?”
“Oh, that will make sleeping arrangements easier.” Bill muttered then showed him a section near the garden but not where the wedding was being held.
Bill and George set-up the pair of tents. “Whose all coming?”
“Well Jason and Blaise are coming, so are our Dog fathers, I think they’re still fighting with something.”
“You know that Blaise and Jason aren’t going to be allowed to share a tent with you two, right?” Bill mentioned
“Mum would have kittens if they did.” George stated
“I think Sirius and Remus would have puppies” Fred stated.
Nico was considering something and the twins eyed him because they knew Hari. “Not before the wedding. Mum and Fleur would murder us all.” Bill stated all too aware of the three looks.
“Fine” Nico and the twins said pouting.
Meanwhile in the house. Hari was shown to where they were working.
“’Ari” Fleur was gushing as she was right in the middle of the planning and last-minute stuff that couldn’t be ignored. “You must ‘elp me. I cannot decide.” Hari blinked at the flowers and ribbons. Fleur was trying to make her Bouquet and Hari apparently had last decision. Hari was getting Fleur settled, Ginny was mocking her and annoyed.
For most of the day Molly was seemingly trying to separate Hari from the others. Hari frowned as Molly was trying to get something from her. Hari looked so confused. “I’m sorry Molly, I have no idea what you’re getting on about. There was never any word about me dropping out of classes. If anything, there was thought of me taking my O.W.L.s late. Possible testing for my N.E.W.T.s. late if I can’t keep up.”
“Oh… I thought… Never mind Hari.”
“It’s all right Mrs. Weasley. I’m sorry I let you worry so much. But rumours aren’t good to put much faith in.” Hari smiled even as she suddenly realized that Ron and/or Hermione must have been acting odd and working for Dumbledore. Of course, he would have spies on her to report her movements.
Hari went back to doing what she was assigned as Mrs. Weasley had a list of tasks that needed to be done. They spent days cleaning cutlery and dishes, they were all colour-matching favours, ribbons and flowers. The boys got to de-gnome the garden. Everyone took turns in the kitchen helping Mrs. Weasley cook vast batches of canapés and making vol-au-vents. Nearing the end of the week before the wedding there was an enormous stack of wedding presents that needed sorting all stacked in Mr. and Mrs. Weasley’s bedroom. There was even a mass cleaning of the backyard. Hari didn’t know what it would look like but that’s where the wedding was being held under a huge white Marquee tent. It was arriving the next day.
Two days before the wedding the Delacours arrived. Hari blinked as she looked around the yard. Their tents were in a different section of the yard so she hadn’t seen this yet. Hari had never seen the yard look so neat and tidy. The rusty cauldrons and old wellington boots that usually littered the steps by the back door were gone, replaced by two new Flutterby Bushes standing on either side of the door in large pots. The chickens had been shut away, the yard had been swept and the nearby garden had been pruned, plucked and generally spruced up.
Hari was stunned by the transformation, though she was annoyed at the security measures they decided to put in place for Hari’s presence. Not that the army waiting just below the surface wouldn’t activate if something attempted anything on her or Nico’s lives. She figured it was all overcompensation on the Ministry’s end.
The chaos that was the families meeting made Hari so glad she wasn’t sleeping in the house with them all. Nico leaned into her, having grown on her again “Please tell me we aren’t trapped in that chaos.”
“Nope. This is why we have tents.” Hari replied smiling as she was accosted by the Delacours.
“You must be ‘Ari. You are as lovely as Fleur tells me.”
“Thank you” Hari said smiling. Then she watched Molly try to get them in the house that wasn’t big enough for everyone. “Umm, Molly, how about Gabrielle and Fleur stay in my tent… that way… well.”
“Are you sure?” Fleur asked
“I’ve got four rooms in mine, Nico’s got one and the twins are staying in the other tent with another four rooms in it. We suspect our guests will crash there with our uncles.”
“Would that really be alright?” Molly asked concerned
“It’s fine” Hari said smiling “It’ll also free up the bathroom on the day of the wedding.”
“Thank you, Hari, you’re such a dear.”
Hari smiled “Not at all.”
“Why did you offer?” Gabrielle asked confused
“Do you really want to be trapped in the house?” Hari asked with a raised eyebrow.
“Non” The girls stated and they got the right luggage into the right rooms. This allowed Mr. and Mrs. Weasley to used Percy’s old room to sleep instead of the sitting room as the original plan had been.
The Delacours were very helpful. Mrs. Delacour was happy to teach Hari and Nico a few of her impressive range of Household spells. All while the others were helping with the last-minute arrangements. Hari and Nico refused to take meals in the crowded kitchen. Just been trapped with that many people made both of them twitch. They had another full day before the wedding day.
Hari blinked as Nico muttered in his sleep beside her. “’Ari, joyeux anniversaire.” Hari blinked as Fleur and Gabrielle were inside the door yelling.
Hari frowned “joyeux anniversaire?” She was confused…
“Buon compleanno” Nico muttered snuggling under the blankets. Gloria meowed at them from the end of the bed.
“Hari! Up and At’ems” Fred yelled
“Come on, Birthday Breakfast!” George yelled as they invaded the room.
Nico yawned “Why do I have to be up for this?” Nico whined as he was thrown over George’s shoulder. Hari sighed as she was tossed over Fred’s and they were run out of the tent. Hari smiled at the shocked expressions on the French siblings’ faces.
“I told you to go wake them not drag them to breakfast in their pajamas…” Molly yelled at the twins.
“Then it would be birthday lunch not breakfast.” Fred argued.
“You could have at least let them get dressed!” Hermione yelled at them.
“They would have gone back to sleep.” George stated
The French siblings reached the kitchen in proper clothing, compared to the shorts and baggy tees that where the Hades siblings. Coffee was fetched as apparently tea wasn’t going to cut it today.
Hari blinked at the pile of gifts on the table. She stared at them curled up in the chair clutching her cup of coffee. “Oh right, I’m seventeen…” she sounded still half asleep.
Nico snorted as Bill almost breathed in his tea. Arthur’s tea was halfway to his mouth as he blinked at Hari stunned. Molly and Hermione looked horrified. Ginny was meanwhile choking on her toast as Ron inhaled a sausage the wrong way. There was a knock on the door. The family blinked, restarting all of them, including Hermione doing something to keep Ron from suffocating on his sausage. Molly rushed to the door. Sirius and Remus had arrived.
“Oh, I was right” Sirius said grinning as he walked in to ruffle Hari’s frizzy braid. “The twins got you out of bed before noon.”
“Yeah” Hari yawned
Remus chuckled and nodded to the other guests. Hari blinked as the little gift hovering under her nose. She looked at the arm it belonged to then looked up and smiled. “Our gift. It is traditional to give a witch or wizard this for your seventeenth.”
Hari blinked at him and took the box from Remus’s hand tentatively as if expecting it to blow up. Hari opened the box to find another box… “If this is your idea of a joke…” Hari muttered tentatively expecting another box or something to explode out of it.
“Is it dangerous?” Mr. Delacour asked nervous from where he was standing putting his dishes to wash.
“Depends on if they are being serious or figuring out a new prank.” Hari stated shifting so that the firing range was away from her.
“That was the only trick Pup” Sirius stated “This is much funnier then if we had done something” Hari elbowed him in the side making him yelp in pain.
Inside the box was a silver pocket watch with a single albert chain. It was delicate and very pretty. She was stunned, as a decorative piece there was a pretty coat of arms shield with the Deathly Hollows symbol in the center where the crest sat. She looked at them confused.
“James had it made the moment he learned you were a girl.” Sirius said smiling “He was so excited that he was finally able to…” the smile faded.
Hari hugged him practically jumping into his arms. “Thank you so much” all while still clutching the watch. There was laughing and a little bit of crying. They got back into the rest of her gifts as Remus and Sirius got themselves tea.
Hari blinked as the small kit Bill and Fleur had gotten her. It was a full proper embroidery kit. Hari had never show this off to anyone but family, she looked at Fleur… all of this because she’d mentioned it once and complained about her kit being pieced together. “Do you like it?” Fleur asked nervous
“I love it!” Hari gushed hugging the kit to her chest, it was even a proper wooden case that closed properly with a clasp and didn’t need to be tied closed.
Most of the house didn’t know about this little habit of hers. They were a little startled at her pure delighted excitement. Not that she didn’t love the rest of her gifts, there were the chocolates from the Delacours, a sneakascope from Hermione who apparently paid attention to when hers had shattered on the floor of their dorms. The twins got her an enormous box the Latest Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes merchandise. Molly smiled as Hari was happy for the treacle candies, she’d made right under Hari’s nose.
Hari headed out to actually get dressed this time to see wizards in the backyard setting up a large pearly white marquee tent. Hari and Nico with her presents in hand went to the tent. She looked at the bed to see two Underworld wrapped gits. One was a new dress from Persephone but it was the tee-shirts from their dad and Nico that made her giggle. Nico’s grin was the best thing she’d gotten yet.
They were running around doing the day before prep for the wedding, now that they could actually decorate the tent. Hari and Gabrielle were giggling as they were placing flowers about. Even in their hair. Nico was blushing trying to look mad as he had a small flower crown on his head. He finally broke down laughing with them. Bill stood there grinning as he got a picture of the three of them surrounded by flowers.
They had the tent decorated most of the way done before dinner. Hari made everything easier as she was able to actually use her magic. Nico was grinning at the huge uproar when Charlie arrived, Jason and Blaise arrived about the same time. Hari ran and hugged Blaise, his smile was obvious as he tucked a fly away hair behind her ear amused by the flowers still in her hair. He pulled a small long box out of his pocket. “Happy Birthday”
Hari smiled and opened it. She was stunned by the gold bracelet. She knew instantly it was imperial gold… “Blaise… this is…”
“I wanted to give you something special.” He said smiling
“Thanks” she said blushing then they kissed.
Both sighed at the wolf whistles as they separated, mostly because Molly started yelling at them to get back to the party. Hari ended up putting on the bracelet. Jason leaned into her ear, “It’s a resistance charm, not a shield like you gave him.” Hari smiled glad that he’d been able to use it, though it was also unlucky he’d had to use it.
Her party ended up being a small bit of chaos as they’d been forced into the garden with several tables end to end. The twins had gone all out and the male Weasleys did much the same. Even Hermione was showing off by draping the trees in gold and purple streamers. She even turned the leaves of the crab apple tree gold.
Hari blinked as Mrs. Weasley was still trying to disagree with Fleur as she made a spectacular cake for Hari’s seventeenth in the shape of a giant snitch. Fleur wasn’t disappointed at the splendor but excited she was allowed to spend Hari’s coming of age with her.
Everything was finally set up even as the last people finally arrived. Dinner was served and everyone was chatting over each other. Hari was laughing at a joke the twins were telling while Blaise held her hand. By the time the cake was served everyone was well and truly excited for the next day. Everyone got shooed off to bed. Blaise and Jason followed the twins to the right tent as Sirius and Remus were doing last minute security checks around the property and house.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The wedding took up the next day. Hari was so glad she’d had her last fitting over a week ago so she wasn’t worried about herself. She was concerned about Fleur as they were getting her ready with the final last-minute things. Hari was giggling as she was with Gabrielle and Mrs. Delacour helping Fleur get ready in the master room of the Burrow.
Mrs. Delacour attacked Hari with the make-up, it was better then Hari could have ever managed. Nico poked his head in “You any where close? Mrs. Weasley is starting to flake.”
“We’re almost there. Are all the guests here?” Hari asked. Nico nodded blinking at his sister. “What?” Hari looked at him confused
“You look really pretty today.”
Hari blushed and muttered “Thanks”
They were finally almost there, when this ill-tempered witch attempting to resemble a flamingo came in. Fleur just needed her hair done at this point. Hari was the one that greeted the witch, only to be handed a box. “My tiara. Hold this so I can instruct the bride.” Hari raised an eyebrow at her when the witch stopped to look at her and the skull pendant around her neck. “You’re a pretty girl, delicate and graceful. A proper English girl.”
Hari smiled “Greek, actually” just to watch the old witch twitch. Hari’s accent was fully English, and she was raised English but Hari was well and truly Greek. The bell like laughter was delicate and half hidden as the Delacour ladies giggled.
“Well,” She ignored Hari who rolled her eyes as the decrepit witch lectured Fleur on how to best wear the goblin made tiara, that she bragged about endlessly.
They got Fleur’s hair up where it accentuated the tiara not hiding it while leaving Fleur’s hair loose. Fleur was wearing a very simple white dress and seemed to be emitting a strong, silvery glow. Hari smiled as Fleur was truly so happy, she was glowing differently then normal. Gabrielle and her mother went ahead to announce the bride was coming. Hari helped Fleur down the stairs holding both bouquets before they met Mr. Delacour. Hari made sure Fleur was perfect before they started walking.
Hari watched the gliding Fleur and her bouncing Father. Hari followed behind as Bridesmaid. Hari beamed, Bill and Fleur looked the happiest she’d ever seen them. Hari was fascinated by wizarding weddings, but she’d never been to a muggle one either so she had nothing to compare. Hari loved the simple splendor of it, even giggling when the twins exploded the balloons to reveal birds of paradise and tiny, golden bells that flew and floated out of them.
Hari was trapped with Charlie as everyone was greeting and congratulating the bride and groom. Hari knew it would take forever before she was allowed to escape. Though she did get to laugh and hug Viktor when he came to greet them. She got to meet pretty much everyone even if none of them realized who she actually was. Her very faded, almost gone scar was tucked behind her artfully styled bangs, Mrs. Delacour was a wonder. Cedric smiled as he approached them. Bill grinned as he shook hands with him. Charlie snuck a kiss which made everyone smile when Cedric slipped over to greet him afterwards. Fleur looked all too pleased at the proceedings.
“I must ask, the black tents in the side yard…” a guest hinted
“Those are mine and my brother’s” Hari said smiling
“Oh, such a distinct colour” The woman was trying to be offensive.
“Thank you. It matched the aesthetic on the inside.” Hari smiled all too happy with the choices.
Fleur nodded “Tis very nice,”
The guest in question stopped and went on their way. Hari was finally freed from bridesmaid duty to mingle. She was surrounded by people complimenting her. She relaxed the moment Blaise put his hand on her waist. “Mind if I steal my girlfriend from you?” He asked, not really asking as he was blocking them from her as he led her to a table.
That’s when the dancing started with Bill and Fleur opening the floor. Hari collapsed in a chair to see Viktor and Hermione being slightly mushy, while Jason was being introduced to Cedric by Nico. “This is Jason” Nico said gaining his boyfriend’s attention, “Jason, this is my former head of house, Cedric.”
Jason smiled and shook the offered hand.
“Are you dating?” Cedric asked looking at them holding hands. Nico blushed and nodded with a silly little smile on his face. It made Jason blush as he looked at his little boyfriend.
“Yes” Hari stated with a grin. “They’ve been together since about Christmas. How’s life at the reserve?”
“Bloody brilliant. Charlie is amazing… so are the dragons” Cedric said blushing a little too much for that to be anything but a cover up. They chuckled.
“There you are.” Sirius weaved in. “Have you seen Xenophilius Lovegood? He’s wearing that stupid necklace again”
“Who?” Hari asked confused. Even Hermione looked confused as she arrived off the dance floor with Viktor.
“The idiot wizard in yellow robes.” Sirius stated “There are too many international wizards here for him to be making that damn stance.”
“Not since he gave his greeting” Hari answered
“Fuck.” Sirius vanished into the crowd.
“Symbol?” Hermione asked. She then saw the large pendant on Xenophilius’s chest as Sirius was approaching him. There was a small argument that Sirius was losing only because this was where Luna had gotten some of her weirder traits from.
“If he vos not a guest of Fleur’s, I vould duel him, here and now, for veering that filthy sign upon his chest.”
“Why? What’s wrong with it?” Hermione asked confused looking at Hari as she had more then one thing with that symbol on it.
“Grindelvald. That is Grindelvald’s sign.” Viktor stated agitated
“Grindelwald … the Dark wizard Dumbledore defeated?” Hermione looked started at Hari; she’d never heard anything about this apparently.
“Exactly.” Viktor’s jaw muscles worked as if he were chewing, then he said, “Grindelvald killed many people, my grandfather, for instance. Of course, he vos never poverful in this country, they said he feared Dumbledore – and rightly, seeing how he vos finished. But this –” He pointed a finger at Xenophilius. “This is his symbol, I recognised it at vunce: Grindelvald carved it into a vall at Durmstrang ven he vos a pupil there. Some idiots copied it on to their books and clothes, thinking to shock, make themselves impressive – until those of us who had lost family members to Grindelvald taught them better.” Viktor cracked his knuckles menacingly and glowered at Xenophilius.
Hermione looked perplexed. Nobody else in the tent seemed to have recognised the symbol outside of Sirius and Remus. “Are you sure?” Hermione asked frowning confused
“I am not mistaken,” Viktor said coldly. “I valked past that sign for several years, I know it vell.”
Hari frowned “Um Viktor, the symbol is a few thousand years older then Grindelwald.”
They all looked at her startled. “You know what it means?” Hermione asked
“Yes, It’s the symbol for the Deathly Hollows. A set of three items said to grant one the power over Death if they were all collected. Grindelwald and Dumbledore were both obsessed with them. Grindelwald actually displayed his though.”
“vay do you know this?” Viktor demanded
Hari sighed leaning on the table nearby “Because I happen to know where they learned of them, it’s technically my father’s historical family crest that they stopped using a thousand years ago except on a very few things.” Victor looked at Hari horrified “Yes, he ruined my family crest making it feared through out the wizarding world, all because it’s tied to three items of great power. He was mostly obsessed with the ‘deathstick’ which was a wand said to be undefeatable.”
“Then that man…”
“Is Luna’s father so most likely he’s wearing it because he knows of the items not because of Grindelwald.” Hari stated
“Where did you learn that?” Hermione asked “I’ve never read anything like that.”
“A fairy-tale actually, added with a few pieces of historical information.” Hari stated
“Hey, come dance with me” Blaise said grinning as he’d vanished at some point. Hari didn’t even hesitate to take his hand. The conversation needed to change anyway.
Hari was taking a break from dancing as the cake was to be cut. She was awed as the two model phoenixes on the top of the wedding cake took flight when the cake was cut. As the night wore on things became less contained.
Hari knew more then a few people were off with the Veela cousins. Hari was spending time dancing. Nico was sitting in the corner watching as Hari collapsed beside him. Cedric was laughing with him as they watched Hermione and Viktor dancing. Jason managed to escape the girls surrounding him as he collapsed into another chair using the Hades siblings’ auras to keep the others at bay.
The party finally wound down at about midnight when the couple left for their new home. After that most of the guests slowly made their way to their own homes or to their lodgings by about one in the morning. Jason was smiling as Hari had ditched her shoes and was dancing something more jazz then a waltz with Nico. They were giggling as they took over the dance floor. It only had a few other people all dancing close together on the other side of it otherwise. They all finally went to sleep at about two or three in the morning. Clean up started the next morning. Magic made it insanely easy.
